I thought the recording for Wacken 2014 was tremendous though. Like extraordinary compared to many concerts. I don't know who does the recording for Wacken, but they've done a totally commendable job. Performance mistakes happen. Does it matter unless they cause something painfully earsplitting? I don't think it really does. They wrote the songs. A note off occasionally makes no difference.
Louis Kirkwood Man if you think pop concerts are perfect you'd better look twice. It's all playback and dancers to hide the lack of energy and passion in those live "performances" .
Seth Black I talked to,kerry actually once and showed him this video. He was like that because he was trying not to get emotional because he missed jeff. Unlike what people say kerry is actually a nice guy. Just shy unless on stage. The reason why people think he's a dick is because fans have said a done stupid shit. One fan even talked shit about his wife. To his face at a convention. And because kerry stood up for his wife. He's a dick. Kerry is actually one of the reasons why I play guitar. Him gary holt, jeff and kirk hammett are big influences on me as a guitar player,
tyler dees Hate wagon I guess, also I met Lars in 2010 in backstage when I told him that you are the reason I play drums, he thanked me and gave one of his drumsticks. That was hell of a moment for me, I ll never forget.
Agreed. Especially for this song. Jeff's solo is very memorable and an integral part of the song. I mean Holt is doing a solid job and I love him, but he should have kept some of the signature pieces in there, like the tapping part at the end.
Gary Holt - "We're playing that song? Dude, I didn't practise the solo" Kerry King - "Dude, just whammy the fuck out of a natural hamonic like me" Gary Holt - "But there are actual notes that Jeff Hanneman tapped in scale" Kerry King - "Hmmm. Just tremolo pick it then, that's technical AF"
"There are these motherfuckers who keep bitching about sweep picking and how hard is to master and I'm like...bruh, have you even heard about tremolo picking?" - Buddha
First thrash band I ever seen, I was deaf for 3 days but what a gig, Newport center south wales UK was the best, support was nuclear assault and death angel good times
The fact these guys are all almost60 yrs old and are still able to blow any band half their age or even younger off the stage is a true testament to the staying power of American speed&thrash metal .........................\m/ FUCKING SLAYER \m/
Seems a bunch of people watch stuff like this only to critique a missed cymbal at 67 seconds or Tom missing a vocal somewhere................. If you want note for note perfection you should stick to your mums Barbara Streisand records.
He did amazing though. Hes very respectful though to Jeff him and jeff were super close friends. Gary can do the solo no prob I asked him to play the actual solo and he played it no problem. He just wants to do jeff justice.
I love how they are live. Never got to see the original lineup, but Gary can really shred. I actually was able to upgrade from a lawn seat to four rows from stage right for maybe $10 and not being able to hear anything from my left ear for a few days. Totally worth it.
Lithuanian GLOCK31_NH420 same I can play Jeff's solo. But I'm not even close to gary because Gary is incredible. Pat O brien played it note for note. Once when he toured with slayer. Jeff would be proud of gary.
Guys i want to tell u a thing... probably kerry remains the greatest metalhead ever... and if we think with attection is so true. He grow up with hair, He lost them and remains the same metalhead of the early, u can see on stage, with his guitar, with his attitude. There is only a band thrash and this is Slayer.
I think Paul is an an incredible drummer, I really do... he is awesome... But listening to the feel of the songs... I will always believe dave was supposed to be in this band . hands down.. Could Eddie Van Halen ever be replaced? or alex? not
Shit happens when its live. When your on stage you can't hear what the audience hears its often distorted. As far as they're concerned until the sound tech says something everything is going as planned.
this is live not all frontman can sing perfectly,i have seen them twice and i tell you Tom can scream all night long ,he is amazing,Lombardo is a human machine,Holt a crazy talented guitar,Exodus miss him ,.RIP Jeff,Slayer is fucking Slayer.
I'm feeling 30 in my head but my body feels all of 57 overkill rules they have been around since 1980 40 years of thrash still going strong putting 2 alblums out a year I love them I love all heavy metal from 78 to present .they should have been part of the big four you KNOW YOUR GETTING OLD WHEN FUCKING SLAYER RETIRES LOL OVERKILL FAN FOR LIFE.
So glad i get to see these guys on their recent tour and possibly last Tour. Last time I saw them was at the "Tattoo The Earth Concert" in Mercedes,TX. Things got pretty wild.
