Great lesson. Thank you. Chopped my ring finger off in a bike crash 18 years ago and basically got frustrated with slide and stopped using it. This technique has got me excited again, got a new subscriber, Cheers mate.

After losing an argument with a table saw yesterday (pictures available upon request 😆🤮), it looks like I'll be learning slide guitar for the next few months. Very very very good/relevant to do it in standard tuning! You stated all the reasons and had good or fantastic examples like Joe Walsh! Real good! I gotta use a pick to articulate the notes rather than my fingers as many do though. More volume, clarity, etc. with a picked note. I got finger picks for when I need em. Why use your ear or anything else to play notes?
Hey Scott, do you have any advice on an entry level or just a decent lap steel? I love the sound and I'm always trying to recreate the sound on a 6 string. I figured it's time to learn but I don't know the first thing. Plus I hope to be a hot commodity in me area where nobody plays steel guitar. Lmao. I appreciate the time you put in these lessons.
Howdy. Yeah, I have 4 of the Peavey Power Slide axes. I keep them all in different tunings. They have a cool tone knob on them that starts coil splitting the pickup as you roll it off. Very cool feature. They look awesome as well (always a plus). Thanks for watching and writing.
Sweet Lesson! Sorry if this has been covered before, but I was wondering what camera / mic you use for your vids? The picture and sound are great! Especially for what looks like a 1 person operation. Thanks!
Hi there Scott. I'm just using a Sony HandyCam and the mic that is on it. The mic doesn't pick up my voice real well from a distance, so I have to run the audio through Audacity to add a compressor to the whole audio to even it all out and then amplify the whole thing to bring the levels back up. No huge deal and not real time consuming.

Additional,, sorry Scott,, what I mean is,, I had to save a lot of money for the Boss Gt 1000..I purchased it from Sweetwater..what is your view on this pedal system.. thank you for your videos....
Welcome aboard Mark! I personally dig the Gt 1000. As with most units, it has about 30% usable patches and a bunch of goofy patches. The great thing is that it doesn't take much to whip up a lot of superb tones. You'll only end up using a dozen or so anyway and Boss always has some of the highest quality stuff out there. They really listened when they first started showing the unit....it was a bit lacking and folks let them know about it and they changed a LOT about it to make it awesome. You can easily use it and never need an amp again. A lot of folks actually go that route. Congratulations on a groovy purchase.

I guess I have 2 say what kind of gear I have.. well,, this may sound krazy,, I have a Marshall Valve state 150 head.. and an Ibanez acoustic with a good quality Fishman activated pickup system.. Now, my question, what would be the best matched speaker cabinet for this system..? .😊
