Frank once said he would like to be on a Mount Rushmore of voice actors with Mel, Daws Butler, Peter Cullen, of course he then says June Foray.

You have to respect the show more when you see all the hard work that went into it.
@JR-ju3kj

I think that people have to respect animation as a whole when they see all of the hard work that goes into creating an animated show(and I'm talking about BOTH traditional hand-drawn animation and computer-generated animation). Whenever people dismissively talk about something just being ''a cartoon'',I can always tell that they don't know the first thing about how hard it is and how expensive it is to do animation(as an aspiring comic book writer and artist,it's the same way that many people don't realize how much hard work,effort,time and money goes into making a comic book).

amazing to see greats like Maurice and Frank Welker at work .Would be great to see more of that, including stuff with Arsenio and Lorenzo. Probably sadly will never be seen.

This is soooo cool. I remember a young woman who was told she couldn't be an animator because she didn't speak Japanese!!! How dumb is that. Don't know if she ever studied it, but I hope the teacher who said that to her is waiting tables! Amazing how much alll this hand drawn stuff, at least the production end of it, has changed so radically since this was done. Artist will always use pencils to start, but the computer is it for animation, at least in the commercial realm. Thanks!

I remembered that you could always see which episodes were done by the A team and B team. The Saturday morning episodes always had the dynamic cool animation.

I knew it was animated in japan, but it never occurred to me all the time and effort it took sub contract to another Continent like that in the days before the internet.

Now that I think about yes he does look a little like the animated Ray Stantz. This is so cool so see Frank Welker and Maurice Lamarche working along with the other people involved in making The Real Ghostbusters. It is still one of my favorite cartoons to this day. In fact the final episode"20,000 Leagues under the Street" aired on my 9th birthday in 1991.

Once again, proof that the majority of cartoons in the 80’s were actually anime in American drag. The Ghostbusters really did get an anime. And Frank Walker is pure epic!!! Now I appreciate him like I do Paul Freese, June Foray and Robin Williams. 👍

Speaking of voice actors, by the 3rd season, Dave Coulier took over as the voice of Peter Venkman. I personally think Lorenzo Music was the better voice actor because he captured Peter's character perfectly. Yes, Coulier could do a voice impression of Bill Murray but it sounded more like Bill Murray playing Carl Spackler in "Caddyshack" instead of Bill Murray playing Peter Venkman in "Ghostbusters." Plus, I liked it better when Peter didn't like Slimer so much as he's holding a grudge against him for sliming him at the hotel. When Dave Coulier took over the role, it's like Peter and Slimer were best buds and that just doesn't fit.

Does anyone know how long it took to make an episode of The Real Ghostbusters? I know it took 9 months to make an episode of The Simpsons (They had over twenty teams working at the same time to produce one series a year) but The Real Ghosbusters often had even better animation than The Simpsons. Anyone know?

At 2:23, Frank Welker one of the biggest voice actors in the business. Although in this, he kind of looks like Mr. Roper from "Three's Company." Any famous voice he's known for doing is Freddy from "Scooby Doo."

So The Real Ghostbusters cartoon was actually part Anime/Japanese animation, lol Who knew XD and 13,000-14,000 cells/per episode @_@ thats insane, man, PROPS to those animators!! they really don't get paid enough~ :/

If Frank Welker could do Skeeter (Muppet Babies) well among the female voices, he could've done a perfect Janine as well.
@youkai3785
@youkai3785 7 лет назад
ClassicTVMan1981X Welker is VERY good, but Janine needs to be voiced by a woman. Soucie wasnt bad, and shes one of the good ones whos been instrumental to many of our childhood favorite shows, but Laura Summer was the best Janine after Annie Potts.

Not surprising,really,. Like you said,I always got that kind of Anime vibe from it,too. But one thing I liked was how well Winston was animated because typically,Anime doesn't do a particularly good and flattering job of depicting people of color.

I'm tempted to think that more than how cheap it was they wanted a Japanese animation studio to animate the series because US animation in the 80's was horrible, really bad animation. Anime in the 80's was the opposite, it was really well done.
@nuclearcatbaby1131
@nuclearcatbaby1131 Год назад
Why would Japanese animation necessarily be any cheaper? Japan isn’t some sweatshop Southeast Asian country.
@ijansk
@ijansk Год назад
@@nuclearcatbaby1131 Japanese animators, at least in the 80's were exceptionally good but underpaid. That's why the US sought some of their series to be animated in Japan. Cheap and good.
