Thanks for the info Nikki. The thing with “tweaks” and “loopholes” is that they end up becoming non-free foods. Like muller lights. People were eating 12 a day and now they’re synned. (I didn’t like them anyway but I’m sure some people were gutted)
Amazing video. The hardest part of the plan being a newbie is understanding this. You’ve sorted it in my mind by simply saying “eating free foods in a way it wasn’t intended” x
I think you read my mind Nikki. It's tasters at our group on Friday and I had found the recipe for curry loaf which I was planning to make so bought a tin of chickpea Dahl today. It crossed my mind if this was going to be a tweak so was going to contact my consultant tomorrow. I'm pleased I've had chance to catch up with your vlogs as you mentioned that because its used in its whole form that it's not a tweak. Wey hey, curry loaf back on the menu. Thank you x
Hi Nikki, using the lasagne sheets for spring rolls is one I have always wondered about 🤔 glad you have cleared it up, I always thought to myself it’s no different to having a stir fry with noodles , thank you, full of useful tips as always ❣️
Great video! This has been so helpful to me as there seems to be a lot of confused information out there. I breaded some chicken in smash once (it wasn't even that nice!) as I had ran out of bread. I said that I knew it was a tweak and I was then 'corrected' and told it wasn't and was on plan. Now i know it was tweaking after all!
Hi Nikki this is a great video because I can truly relate to a couple of tweaks which I thought was ok. I make couscous muffins for breakfast using 40grms and 1egg. Yog and 50grm blueberries and I love them and have my HEB for lunch, I also have made s/w rice pud with almond milk topped with frozen berries for breakfast so I can save my HEB for later , I thought it was ok to do this as I do control the portion sizes but it has made me realise to be careful and mindful about it thank you xx
I once made the smash pizza base and posted it online in my old group and the tweak police were out in full force lol. I now realise they were probably trying to be helpful but what annoyed me is the way they went around it. I posted a nice picture and I received messages saying "you can't do that" or "that's not allowed on the plan" when I responded "Ok, didn't know, so many syns?" I received more unhelpful messages "don't know, I wouldn't eat it" "too many to count". So I now use my Hexb WW wrap. Let's hope that's ok 😁 but I now see people going Boxty crazy. On a more positive note this was very helpful and I also wanted to let you know I am thinking and praying for you and wishing you positive and happy news to come x
I have stopped losing weight - making me crazy! Don’t do any of these though so not sure what I am doing wrong. Can’t say I wouldn’t do it for a sweet fix but I’ve found them all totally inedible 🤣
Nikki, can I ask. We tend to start the day with fruit and coffee - melon and strawberries, say and an hour later - after dog walks and house stuff, have our scrambled egg on toast. Is it ok to do it like this?
Nikki (how are you! Is Chris home yet?) This has been so helpful - I think I’ve been tweeking a wee bit too much and pissed off that I’m not dropping weight faster... 😱😱😱😱😱 Lizx
My consultant suggests we use smash to thicken and coat everything everything 😕 I only ever use it to coat things like scotch eggs and then I would eat that only with speed. I have lost 8st 12.5lb in a year but this is still food for thought.
+Kate SW maybe she doesn't realise. Years and years ago it was a thing. You can use bread crumbs or scan bran or have no coating. You are prob good with portion control. Others may end up eating too much as it's all "free" if using bread it would be limited x
Thank you. I never have great losses if eat to much in the way of pasta or potatoes so only have them once or twice a week. Also although I love bread it doesn't love me so I never eat that either. I'm comfortable using smash as a coating a couple of times a month. But I have just made a soup that already has potatoes in it and I was going to add smash to thicken it and will rethink that now. Thanks.
Hi Nikki! Why is cornflour syned? Someone told me to use smash as a thickener to sauces in curries and casseroles but I won't buy smash cos it's a processed food! I don't mind syncing cornflour but I don't understand why it has a syn value. Thanks!
+Karen K. Soup isn't a tweak as it's just veg. Low calorie and isn't easy to over eat calorie wise. Really simple. Shop bought soup isn't free as it's got things added to it
Hi Nikki, thanks for sharing this. Today for the first time i tried overnight couscous after asking my consultant if it was tweak, she said because it was part of a meal it was fine. So now I'm confused???? As i've never done this before i decided to weigh it like i would my healthy extra, but now im worried im going to have a gain.
I thought I had found a game changer and having been using couscous as a porridge, also as a coating for chicken. lol! I giggled all the way through this like a caught out school girl. But i did write a public apology to couscous as I had a 1lb weight gain this week! lol
