Re-watching this again...this is one of the saddest and most heartwarming scenes in Smallville. It captures the bittersweet beauty of Chlark magic that kept the show alive so well. The music just makes it even more powerful.

If Chloe loves Clark with every fiber of her being, then she should've been allowed to love every fiber of his being. Sorry, I don't buy Don Whitehead's nonsense. Clark and Chloe were the Mulder and Scully of Smallville, and everything the writers did after the season 5 finale, Vessel, and the kiss between Clark and Chloe made no damn sense whatsoever. Getting Chloe with Jimmy, having Clark fall back into the Lana madhouse after she broke up with Lex, all knowing that Clark/Lana were destined to end and Clark/Lois were destined to be. They should've gotten Clark and Chloe together during the middle seasons of the series instead of wasting so much time with Lana, who had worn out her welcome by season 5.
@@44excalibur totally agree. They went to town with Clark and Chloe’s storyline. There was a nice sequence, parallels, effective use of dialogue, background music. Everything about Clark and Chloe made to look like it was leading somewhere. Take this scene for instance . What was the point in this scene if they gonna blatantly ignore that Chalrk exists? It almost as if they used that relationship to practice their skills, practice their imagination and also make more money just by tagging along Chark fans, by giving them false hope. While also tagging along Clana and Clois fans. They were too cowardly and greedy to leave any ship behind. That greed took over any artistic aspects
OMG this was so heartbreaking to watch. You know thats not what she wanted Clark to say and you can see it in Clark's face that it wasn't what he wanted to say. GAHHH!!! He so has feeling for Chloe and she still has feelings for him. COME ON ps3 give us CHLARK!!!!!!!!!!
Lust, physical attraction, romance are the stuff thats easy, its the stuff thats on the surface. The stuff thats easiest to die out, walk away from or be swept aside. Its their time together, what theyve done for/with eachother. What theyve given, lost and sacrificed. its their trust, theyre deep understanding of eachother. They have the complete set that makes true love. Its not just infatuation like with Lana, or Lust and playfulness with Lois. Intimacy, Honesty, Understanding, passion.
And the hug was one of my favourites. The shot at 2:00 and the line "don't worry about anything else" always gets me. She looks so tiny and fragile in his arms. The scene makes your heart melt and break at the same time.
I think that we, the fans, deserve a opportunity to see Clark and Chloe together, to explore that type of relationship between them!!! Your point is good too.
In a perfect world they would have happened long ago. But even the most perfect of pairs dont realise that it is possible, that you can have it, if you try. I would love to see them reveal to one another what we already know. But so much for our happy ending.

we've gotten other looks to (Bound, Zod, Wither Vessel, Magnetic) just to name a few. But you are right, It's now Clark's turn to tell us and Chloe how he feels about Chloe. We know Chloe's feelings, we can see Clark loves her in this scene, but he still has to say it to her, for her to know it also. I think they both really care about each other, but Clark thinks that Chloe is happy with Jimmy, so he does not want to come in between. aww they are soo CUTE and PERFECT together!
Its really heartbreaking...Why the hell did Chloe decide to brush off Clark the moment she met Jimmy Olsen in the Season 6 premiere,considering they just had an amazing kiss in the Season 5 finale(which was so precious considernig the amount of actual romance they have had in the series)
The surety Clark said ‘we’re more than just friends Chloe’ with was almost like him saying let’s stop beating around the bush and talk facts. We both like each other but you’re gonna get married now? The most persistent Clark has ever been with Chloe
ehhhh i love and hate this scene at the same time....i know it was always gonna be clark and lois, but damn it cud've gone the other way with clark and chloe! he even says "we're more than just friends" to her and you can see they both awkard about the whole engagement thing....i wish....oh well i still love the idea of clark and chloe being together...maybe someday ill see it onscreen....
This scene is reflecting that Clark had some hidden feeling for chole and I wish the story could have been changed and they both might be together at the end
This was a tough scene for me to watch too. They both have feelings for each other. IT sucks that they won't be exploring these feelings this season. I never liked her with Jimmy. He is too nerdy for her. She deserves to be with a superhero after all she has been through...
Even when Lana was on the show, I've always been a fan of he and Chloe. Something about them made me like them together soooo much. So close but so far away. It saddens me as a Chlark fan that I've never seen them together as a real couple.... Louis irritated the hell out of me and made the last season boring to watch T_T
I think it’s that unconditional love that is so rare. There’s no limit to what extend they’ll go for each other. Also, nothing can come between them. Similar to Mulder and Scully. They drifted apart post S9 but that was a clear forceful decision by the writers to take Chloe away to make way for Lou’s and Clark. They even recycled some of Clark and Chloe’s dialogues and scenes with Lois and Clark just injecting some romance to them. That’s why to me Lois and Clark felt forced. It was so manufactured whereas Chloe and Clark developed naturally
These 2 are irritating to watch. This dynamic, their relationship, its foundation everything about it, thats true love. The thing he had with Lana was based on looks. The thing he has with Lois is looks and she challenges him. Neither Lana or Lois have all 3 pieces that make a true love with Clark. Hence why Lana is gone. And Lois and him arent a good fit. The only one that he truly loved was Chloe. This is true love not transient feelings. Attraction/romance have the least to do with true love
Took the words right out of my mouth! Clark did love Chloe the most. :) Chloe was the most loyal to him. Lois I didn't dislike but she went from making fun of him to getting all piney over him in seasons 9 and 10. Season 8 was the end of Smallville for me. Davis, Jimmy, and Oliver all knew where Chloe's heart truly was. It was with Clark. :)
OMG this is the most heartbreaking scen of Chlark. the awkwardness, the hidden emotions, like they dnt know to say it or not to say it. they just dnt hv an explanation for how they feel but actually being closest friends wh care abt each other they shd be happy, bt that's nt what's inside. this is why I worship Chlark. All about them is for us to figure out, for us to feel n realize. the unsaid is more than said between them. season 9 sucks..the story and the characters took a 180 just ovr night

Utter.Devastation. *Sticks the finger towards the tptb* If someone could describe to another how one could love something and be deeply moved by it, yet hate it just as intensely, and unleashes the flood gates, through this example, this scene would define and embody that description. @HOTROD well, for one, it was ABSOLUTELY clear to her that clark was still gaga over lana and at a certain point, she just realized that moving on was logical....and also, while that season 5 finale kiss was great, you have to put it in this perspective: everything looks like it's coming to an end and it might be the very last time you see this close friend of yours who you've always had sexual tension with..why not go out with a bang??

I hate Clark. What are you doing man? Look if your not gonna be with her don’t be pulling this “we’re more than friends” “your happiness is the most important thing in the world to me” crap. How can he be so dense. There are better ways to tell a close friend that you care and don’t have to toe a line. She gave him every chance. You let a good one get away Clark. Edit: to my recollection of the show, she is the only one who has consistently interested in him. She had relationships but he was always the one she’d hope to end up with. Oh please! Chloe has waited for Clark for more than seven years, she's been in love with him since they met, what makes you think that she would think that now all of a sudden Clark will be into her? Clark is the one who has to make the first move, not Chloe because we already know how Chloe feels. Clark is the one that needs to tell the truth. Also why would he grieve for Lana???? She's not DEAD! She left him!
This eight season has been great! But I would love to see an episode with this two together, I mean, it doesn't have to be real, it could be AU, like in Lexmas, when they were supposed to be together. It would be really cool!
@musicjunky018 yeah they should do a "what if?" special after smallville wraps up with chloe and clark taking over the emphasis that clana and clois has had on the series....we're literally erasing lana and lois as if they never existed and really seeing what a carefully developed clark and chloe love story would be like....i think it would be awesome seeing as that's been one of my big "this would be interesting to see" moments throughout the run of smallville....
@GD29 She mentions meeting a guy a few times in season 2, but in season 4 when Lana was thinking of having "that kind" of relationship with Jason Chloe told her about her first time during her Daily Planet internship the summer after her freshman year. I think it was s4 ep11.
Very heartbreaking for me to watch. It's obvious these 2 have feelings for each other. Clark and Chloe will always be in my heart a couple. Had Jimmy and Lois not been in the picture Clark and Chloe would have had a relationship. She loved him more than Lois and Lana combined. Clark fell for Lois simply because it was convenient. You could tell he was disappointed when she was engaged.

When she tells Clark in season 2 you think it’s fake but in season 4 when she tells Lana, you realise she actually did sleep with Jimmy during her internship in season 2, it wasn’t just bs to try and make Clark jealous.
Gah... the producers hate Chloe/Clark fans. They had so many great scenes together, there is absolutely no reason they shouldn't be together other than Lois being, sadly, the foregone conclusion. Still, they really should have put them together, even just for one episode (the season one thing doesn't count).
Well that depends. A lot can happen before that marriage. Also just because there is a wedding doesn't mean they will end up being married. Clark and Alicia got married, but they weren't really married by the following episode. Same thing could happen to Chimmy. Chloe deserves better, and Clark deserves a girl who can love him and help him and save him and sacrifice for him the like Chloe. They basically complete each other IMO. CHLARK FOR SEASON 8!

Chloe was written as a truly a pathetic character with her fawning over Clark during the early to mid seasons. The only time they wrote her smartly is when she paired up with Oliver then it felt like Chloe had not only moved on but blossomed into the character she should have been written as.

@GirlNextDoor1493 Chloe loved Clark from day one, but after a little crush in season 1 his feelings for her have been completely platonic (maybe debated). Chloe started dating Jimmy and somewhere along the line her feelings for Clark changed. I believe she really did start to love Jimmy more. They get married but at the end of s8 Jimmy dies. Many things lead up to this event, and both Clark and Chloe felt responsible. So in s9 they start to pull apart. There's lots more, but I'm out of space.
@Peacelover1212 u know tht wud've hpnd right at the beginning of season 6 if Chloe didn't defend herself saying "i'm not expecting us to hook up"..Clark was eager there..n throughout the season 8, this episode plus following all epis if she asked it just once she wud've had it like 100 time in return..not saying she had to..it's totally Clarks turn to do it after all the years..but afterall Clark has always been a jerk, he hardly cud look in Chloe straight without been uncomfortable
You know, I wish they'd just make up their damn minds already. For the longest time, I desperately wanted a Chlark romance. Now, I love Clois, I love Chlark, but most of all, I love Chloe's character and I want her to be happy. I'm tired of seeing her wanting Clark and not getting him, and if that means she ends up with Jimmy - or even Oliver, though I don't like the idea as much as I once did - so be it. Just stop dangling Clark in front of her if you won't let her have him.

See, her with Jimmy bothered me in the last couple seasons, but now she's playing it low key. She's lost a lot and she just can't keep up with Clark and his destiny anymore - which is where Lois comes in. It's like cousin tag-team. Lois is relieving someone whose been on the front lines, and Chloe gets to fall back a little and chill out with Jimmy. Maybe after she has a time out and seems like the eager old Chloe again I'll start looking for that superhero-esque beau again ...
Oh please, she didn't flirt with him but was really surprised that she was getting his attention, that's why she told Davis she was engaged. Please, you are the one that should watch the episode again.
Chloe loss her virginity to jimmy back before season 2 when has a summer internship at the Daily Planet. They didn't meet the for the first time in season 6 we just didn't see him until season 6 just correcting a comment.
@karaven23 yeah, like most others, that relationship was both unexpected to come and actually work..i suspected something from that moment at the end of an episode where oliver is helping chloe get "mentally tough" im guessing with archery...the question is, what will the writers do with chlollie in season 10?? chloe's appearing in less than half of the season's episodes while it is assumed that oliver will appear in far much more so im predicting an eventual, unfortunate end to chlollie....
I REALLY REALLY hope that Clark and Chloe will be together by the end of this series.Resolving them as friends by the end of the series is a crime.Words cannot describe how HEARTBREAKING this is...knowing that you are marrying someone that you dont really love because the guy(Clark) had his eyes more on someone else for 7 seasons...and the thing that really is saddest was how Clark is only starting to realise how much hes actually in love with Chloe when she is about to marry someone else...

@grevious01 I think it was sad because they both knew that if Chloe married Jimmy the close friendship and companionship between these two would have to change. One the normal person level, marring someone should make Them the most important thing in your life (which at the moment Jimmy is not Chloe's priority), and on the superhero level Chloe would probably have to dial down her helping Clark All the time ... I wish he loved her like that, but he just doesn't. :(
Why is Chloe talking like she and Clark used to be a THING and now things will change between them? It's bad writing. Makes this viewer annoyed and frustrated. All that she was saying are things that Lana should be saying when she announces her engagement to Pete Ross.
My best guess is maybe they considered their friendship to be an emotional affair... I find that really stupid though considering that Clark missed every opportunity he had to date her, but always chose Lana instead and "now" that she's taken, he's noticing her.
Clark loves Chloe like a sister, she is his best friend, the person he tells and discuss everything - so he won't tell her anything she loves her as a girlfriend, because his love is differently and I really think that Chloe loves Jimmy. I love the way he makes her smile and I love how her eyes light up then. He makes her feel good, and that what matters in my eyes. I want them all to be happy.
Clark meant it differently: we more than just friends - WE'RE FAMILY. And he was hurt, that Chloe hide it, and didn't came straight to him and told him, like he had done after his proposal. If Chloe really loves Clark, she wouldn't say yes to Jimmy, she would wait until Clark grieved enough over Lana + is ready for sth new, and then go for it. I can understand that Chlarker fans wish to have at least some Chlarker love in the show for so long, but that has nothing to do with real love. I'm sorry
I have to say, IF Chloe marries Jimmy, but is unsure about her feelings, and still hopes for Clark it WOULD not be fair to Jimmy and would make a very bad picture on her. And I think you as your fans, would not like her that way, do you?
