"And when you show yourself to the world...it will be a different age than ours Clark. A silver age of heroism.... that will start when they look up into the sky at you with hope for tomorrow. And you will help everyone to embrace it." Such a powerful quote to describe Clark's future as Superman.
THIS MIGHT BE ONE OF SMALLVILLE'S BEST EPISODES, DR.FATE TALKS TO CLARK WITHOUT HINTING HIS DESTINY OR EVEN HINTING WHAT HES MEANT TO BECOME. AND LOIS WILL FOREVER BE THE KEY
@@Dante-vf4sd Lois grounds Superman, which is extremely important in order for him to continue doing what he does. He can’t be all action all the time.
@@tbird4u1 Clark is and always was Superman, who he is as a person, moulded by his God fearing loving parents and from his Kryptonian parents later plus his krytonian training. He is Super not just in terms of his powers but also as a person. He doesn't need anyone or anything to continue as the perfect superhero he is. Lois is an addition and frankly a distraction and a problem all rapped up into one.
@@Dante-vf4sd that’s not true AT ALL. Superman wasn’t born to just magically become Superman. Every experience he had in his life molded him to be who he was. His parents, friends, experiences, and yes... even romantic relationships. He even needed guidance from jorel. And jorel told him his humanity is what made him who he is. He’s alien but he’s also HUMAN. He feels just like you would. And guess what? Love is part of that. Clark said it himself... what’s the point of doing what he does if he lost his sense on how to live it. I mean... you might think he should just be super and that’s it... but that’s not realistic to who he is. And it’s not just smallville it’s all super mythos with Clark Kent. So you may not like Lois, which is your priority but it does change her importance to Clark Kent and kal-el. This happened in Superman vs. Batman too. But to each their own.
"i wonder if he does horoscopes..." haha! lois without the drama. Dr. Fate didn't even creep her out! the first thoughts in her mind were "halloween" and "horoscopes".
Such a great scene that foreshadows what we saw with Lois and Clark in season 10. Lois is the key, she keeps Superman grounded and isn't afraid to tell him when he is wrong lol!! She also inspires him to fly!! What a dame!!
1:05 I don't know why but I always thought, since I was a kid, that Doctor Fate was smiling under that helm. As if he felt relief and hope when he told Clark of his destiny.
It was this ep that introduced me to how cool Dr. Fate is... and he will be realized on the Big Screen in the upcoming Black Adam movie... we got our first look of him in a quick reel of upcoming DC movies for 2022
This Show was up there, they damn near showed every hero in this show a lot more than i would have ever expected. Smallville will always have a special place in my heart
0:54 brilliant forshadowing of how big of a deal Lex Luthor will be to Clark in the future 1:05 awesome moment showing how important Clark's legacy and influence will go on to be as Superman
Gotta love the reference to the Silver Age here. It's kinda odd though considering Superman WAS a Golden Age character, heck he was the FIRST superhero!
I think the Superman that we know and love really came into light during the Silver Age. The Golden Age was like the late 30s going into the very early 40s right? Superman couldn't fly, he was way more gruff and edgy. A lot of his powers weren't really cemented or clear either. Clark Kent also didn't work at the Daily Planet under Perry White. Aside from that, Clark Kent also did not grow up being raised by Jonathan or Martha Kent. In Action Comics #1 it is described that Clark was found and dropped off at an orphanage. The Kryptonians also were just super advanced beings who had biology millions of years advanced to our own , which caused them to be naturally strong, fast and resilient wherever they went. The Yellow Sun-Red Sun rule wasnt added til the Silver Age. In short while you are correct ... I think the true version of the character that we think of today really came about from the Silver Age which is why it is the most commonly referenced. It also adopted the modern S logo and Superman costume. It is also the primary inspiration for the Chris Reeves Superman films of the 70s and 80s which is what a lot of people who havent read the comics automatically think of as the definitive interpretation.
Never watched this show in my life....but Damn was I glued to my phone watching this scene! I love this voice for Dr. Fate more than the one they have for "Injustice 2."
Smallville will never be equalled , they handled every guest superhero and story line brilliantly. At first I felt a little cheated with the ending , due to not seeing more of Clark in the suit, on reflection I figured he had done everything superman does during the show without the suit on. I now appreciate the ending more , bittersweet, no more smallville but finishing at probably the right time and moment. Dc had such a great show there I believe it made a good superman movie impossible. How can u give us a multilayered Clark character in 2 hrs we all grew to love over 10 seasons . Cavill is ok but he’s hardly ever Clark in the movies , so I find it hard to warm to the character!!!!
Oh man I wished there were more scenes between Lois & Dr. Fate. I replayed this scene between them over and over because it's hilarious. These two would've been the one in the back of the JSA & JLA meetings just looking at one another like, "Really? Are they serious?" I could see it now man. Oh what could've been.
I miss 2009 the world was a better place i wish i could go back and say there for ever ! Smallville was so loyal to comic books not woke culture like nowdays
All this build up with Clark in smallville and they just shat all over him in crisis on infinite earths. Scenes like this remind how mad im at with the arrow verse
I don't see how Crisis shat all over the build-up and how Smallville ended. Assuming Clark gives up his powers in at least 2019 to give his family a human life, that's after 8 years protecting the world as iconic Superman, hell 11 counting the Man of Steel's early years as "the (Red-Blue) Blur". If that isn't an impressive enough amount of time, we know from the vision Doctor Fate and Jordan Cross had of Kal-El's final moments that he'll get his powers back one day, Crisis doesn't change that since it could be Blue K that suppresses his powers for all we know.
How did they shit on him? That scene was a reference to the comic "Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow?". Besides, on the Smallville Earth there is the Justice League to help pick up the slack.
