Such a beautiful scene. What really completes it is Clark's exit. In every other display of his speed, you hear a "whoosh!" as he arrives or leaves to accentuate the speed of his motion but here, because the viewer is seeing it from the hidden Lana's point of view we experience his super speed as an observer. Silently.
I guess, that scene isn't complete without Lanas discussion with her aunt Nell. With Lanas marriage imminent she can no longer wait until Clark reveals his secret by himself, but is forced to stage this incident to finally get the truth about Clark. I'd be curious to see, what would have been Lanas reaction, if Clark would have defended against Chloe blaming him by mentioning that the truth about him already had killed Lana once and that he had to give his fathers live to get her back... But probably he wouldn't have been able to argue like that without breaking down by himself.
@@outdoorolli5754 at last, someone else who wonders the same as me. So much still remained buried even after his secret was revealed. Lana never fully understood what all he gave up in that snowy episode
@@gasnerhoris119 since Lana wasn't to blame for Jonathan's death, it probably wouldn't have been very productive to explain the connection between her life and Jonathans death to her. She might have developed wrong feelings of guilt and therefore might not be able to maintain the relationship with Clark. This truth really could have been quite destructive.
Kristen/Lana’s eyes say sooo much during these scenes, from what seems to be a OMG crazy fear to a OMG he’s nothing but a kid afraid to be hurt… along with that moment of realization that while Clark COULD force her to not marry Lex… he lets her have her own decision… I cry every time I come across this scene!
This is whats lead American into disarray. I feel bad for her your country doesn't forgive sins. It destroys people with them. There no rehabilitation for the lost. I feel bad for her family. She's going to do 28 years she needs dprogaming not jail. I did court orderd therapy it really helps its really sad now all I see is a woman brain washed by a cult. Thats brought on the paranoia of America. Its really sad. God says forgive. I dont know what you Americans draw from but it isn't god
Smallville Season 6 is by far my favourite! Everything's is just so intense and perfect during the whole season, and this episode is probably the best one!
The one thing that needs to be taken away from this episode is is that Lana has suspected but never really could prove that it was always Clark bailing her and everyone else out of problems and then when she finally learns that she realizes why he had to keep it from her and how much of a Despicable jerk Lex is.
@@TurusDJava , you can’t put that on him. Lex drives himself insane. His obession with Clerks secret, his life, Lana, drove him insane. His journey for corruption and power drove him insane. His dude killed his own father and never blinked.
In the comics Clark would have been aware Lana was there in the basement with them as he would not only have heard her breathing but her heartbeat as well! He was always aware of his surroundings and if anyone else was around.
If people mind the episode itself, you'll remember they played two different versions of this scene. One of which wasn't from Lana's perspective and they did have the special effect of him running
the human eye in the smallville universe can't see him "blur" so it's showing lana's POV as a previous poster stated. It's far from stupid, it's logical.
this was a great episode too. you see several scenes from different angles. We had already seen this happen. I thought it was a long scene the first time through but when they show it again with Lana watching him rip off the door and then weld it back... magnificent!
Every time Clark wanted to tell, or told Lana what he could do, bad things happened, or happened to her. It's the reason why he couldn't tell her. He saw it as literally protecting her. I think he thought it was fate that he wasn't allowed to tell her. In the end he was right, because the never can be together. Personally, I like Lana better than Lois. In the series, they were meant to be together, but in the story it was Lois. It's a shame....
And Lana learns that Chloe doesn't support this marriage and thinks her future husband is a monster...but is still lets her friend marry him without a word against it.
That’s not her fault that is on Lionel conscience cause he knew that lex was physically and mentally abusing her and if he knows that then he should tell Clark about it instead of playing god and betraying his trust for no reason he lied to Clark when Clark got suspicious and still kept up the act the fact that Lionel did this means he is messing with Smallvilles reputation
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess , Lionel Luthor is a lot of things but stupid he is not. He knows Lana doesnt love his son. He knows that. Which is why he counted on Lanas loyalty because he knew Lana would do anything for Clark.
The best way to keep a secret is within some version of truth. If Clark had just told Lana (or anyone else getting too close) that his adoption had been less-than-legal, and it would bring all kinds of trouble down on him and his parents if the truth came out, I'm fairly certain she would have stopped digging.
I remember watching this and thinking - this is the sneakiest shit I've ever seen. Lana really went to great lengths to confirm something that Clark "kinda" wasn't comfortable enough to share with her. This is a great episode though.
@naseimbuch: I also think she could have found out sooner. But the auhors always managed to put her (and Lex for that matter) off track. Either by making them "forget" what they've seen or my making Clark vulnerable at the right moment.
thanx! :) i watched smallville til when they went to college, then i started not liking it...but i do remember that Alicia more showed Chloe that Clark was "super"...me personally I think Lana shoulda put it together a while ago
@@LincyMcGabby A good point, but at that range it wouldn't have made much difference. He's caught noises before without focusing. His super hearing is always on, he's just learned how to tune out most of the sounds he hears.
@@thefurrybastard1964 man, need to concentrate to do that also, the main conversation LANA, got him and his feelings, he can focus about who is breathing or else
@@donotreplydumbpeople3866 Actually not really. If you recall he had to teach Kara how to filter out other noise, so really he has to expend a modicum of concentration to filter out everything else he can hear.
Old comment, but Lana isn't smart at all. Watching this series, Clark should've ended up with Chloe. At least if I were him, Chloe would've been my top choice. Especially after Clark finds the letter from her. Chloe is the smartest of the 3 central women Clark is with throughout the series. Lana is too helpless for my taste, and Lois is too arrogant. Chloe is intelligent. She's assertive, and she's passionate about the things she believes.
@@DerekThomasLirio Lana was a bad ass far from helpless she matured during the latter seasons. She married Lex to protect Clark and his secret, saved Chloe, the Kent's, Clark and Lois etc... Clark and Chloe had a good friendship none of it could translate to a romantic relationship as they didn't have the chemistry to make it believable.
@@HazelAmarie True, Lionel blackmailed Lana into marrying Lex. He threatened to kill Clark with kryptonite unless she married Lex. She was very selfless
@chesneygirl08: I wouldn't say Chloe suspected nothing. She had a "potential meteor freak" on Clark and there were several times when Calrk had to force her to back off, because she came to close to the truth.
Its ridiculousness of this dialogue is off the charts, the lines go over his abilities one by one, and what doesn’t get outright spelled out gets shown. Except his super hearing or xray vision apparently, cause he can’t hear the other heartbeat in the room xaxaxa
@mattymacg09 But imho this is the best way, I saw Clark disappear. Okay, when he is running through Metropolis it's difficult to show, where he is, if they go this way. But I'm no big fan of these "whooshes". Even if they make the audience aware of, what he is actually doing. Anyway: great scene. Even reagard to the content. ;)
I applaud lanas actions of finding out the truth and I don’t hold her responsible for her actions at the wedding because that wedding is a sham due to Lionel Luthor’s stupid and disrespectful behavior It is a felony to confuse a forced marriage with an arranged marriage not to mention Lionel committed 8 crimes that day that just makes him as bad as Lex is
thank goodness that you are always there to understand sorry and think that many say that Lana is hateful ah really sure Lana the villain of the series just because she made Lex and Lionel suffer was it time that these 2 suffered a little?
@@gabrielsouto6031 1.confusing an arranged marriage with a forced marriage. 2. accessory to physical and mental abuse of Lana Lang 3. threatening to kill a town hero namely Clark Kent. 4. Taking evidence from a crime scene namely the letter that should’ve been given to lex. 5 due to the way he threatened Lana and not let her make her own choices counts as kidnapping. 6. putting Lana in danger. 7. Obstructing justice by defending a killer namely his son who killed the doctor that was gonna tell Lana the truth about her fake pregnancy. 8. Pretending to become a father in law which he isn’t even if the system says so
This scene connects with the Season 5 opener so well, which only makes it more pathetic that Lana was essentially hit with the "stupid stick" for the Season 6 finale. After breaking up with Lex and visiting Clark at the farm, he tells her he's from Krypton...but she has zero reaction to that name, even though Zod mentioned it when holding her prisoner and Chloe referenced Kryptonite here. In short, the writers messed up, and for whatever reason Kristin didn't pick up on it.
If the basement was not built from reinforced concrete, but as a traditional vault, it would have been quite likely that Chloe would have had coverage for her cell phone even down there.
she had suspicions for a whil, but im pretty sure what encouraged her was events in crimson-ex stabbed clark with and iron bar and it bent-- in trespass-clark appears out of nowhere to save her from a fall (she is conscious)-aswell as freak-a boy that can detect meteor freaks reveals his suspicion about someone in the room(clark and chloe)- these are the three eps that aired before this clips ep
could a die hard smallville fan tell me just around what time Lana started suspecting Clark was "special" ...cuz she deliberately locked Chloe in the cooler, she knew she would be okay thanks :-)
"She's marrying a monster and will be trapped in a loveless marriage." wow chole now that's an unfair assumption. Lex really did love Lana. Just saying that she would be trapped in a loveless marriage is just cold and uncalled for.
She says loveless because Lana doesn't love lex, she loves Clark. But because she's working deep cover for Lionel digging into what he knows about Clark, because if I remember correctly, Lionel is now an apostle of Jor-el. Lex's love for Lana wasn't at question, Lana's love for him was.
of course hindsight is 20/20. This would've been the perfect time for Lana to jump out of hiding and confront both of them. basically catching Clark in the act and Chloe having said what she just said. "leaping tall buildings, bullet proof body of steel, "Man of Steel", the laser eyes, incredible strength. Chloe would have to confess everything and so would Clark. It was Lana's chance to really put both of them on the spot.
Why hasn’t KK been given her own show? It wouldn’t matter whether it was about baking pies or delving into advanced physics. All that would matter would be her soft, feminine voice and her dazzling smile. If her show had to be of the reality show variety, and I were it’s producer, I’d send her to all of the world’s worst war zones, to convince people like Putin, Xi Ping, Kim Jong Un, and various terror group leaders that they are seeing things all wrong. It will put all foreign policy institutions to shame, because she is an unstoppable force who none of those men could refute.
Dont like this episode Lana becoming like Lex be calculate to know Clark secret Clark is also guilty for not having no trust to tell his secret to Lana
I know people say that Clark's exit is supposed to simulate how people would actually see it but I think they are just justifying it. It's obvious it is an editing mistake, in which they forgot to show him speeding away and putting in the full "whooshing" sound.
