To make your kitchen cleaner. I use Clinging wrap on Counter top. Make your cleaning up easier.

Made em… And LOOOOOOOVED EM !!! I used 4 grain whiskey barrel wood for the first 3 hours with a honey bbq rub. Boom Shacka Lacka. Thanks for the video 👍🏻👍🏻

got three racks in the smoker, put em in for 3 hours, then buttered, honey & bbq sauce wrapped in foil for two hours, not doing the one hour un wrapped, thought about tossing them on the grill to char up the bbq sauce but, we're just going to try the 3,2 method this time, thanks for posting this video...

@@MeatyMike the ribs were great, but ! I used too much dry rub it was a little over powering, I didn't char them on the grill, smoking meats, a huge learning curve, thanks

I just got a electric smoker for Christmas and this was the first recipe that I tried out. The ribs came out perfect! The 3-2-1 method is definitely the way to go. Thanks for the recipe!

Mike, I tried this method on a couple of racks in my Masterbilt electric smoker and they turned out fantastic. My smoker held steady right between 225 and 230 and I like to add chips about every 40 minutes and alternated between hickory and apple wood. I used 4 different rubs for my seasoning but all of the other method was similar. I found light brown sugar and dark brown sugar and wasn't sure which to use so I bought both and put the light on one rack and the dark on one rack. I also experimented a bit and put 2 different types of BBQ sauce on one of the racks. Then used a 3rd sauce and put that on front and back of the other rack for some variation. I'm sure I'll get quicker in between the transitions so it ended up taking around 6.5 hours taking out the racks to put in foil, then take out and take off the foil for the sauce. The ribs were very moist and I will probably alternate positioning the bigger rack next time so the thicker end is over the heating element at different times. The thicker side of the larger rack was a bit dryer from more heat so I'll adjust this next time and spin them around so the thicker side is not always over the heating element. I will use this method/approach again for ribs going forward. Thanks for the video!

When I smoke my pork baby back ribs for 3 hours and then 2 more wrapped in foil I’m going to sauce them and finish them on the grill. Plus I make my sauce with just ketchup, brown sugar, and some honey. I just mix them together and refrigerate until I use it.

@@nadiamatejek5121 I only used the chips for the first 3hrs, filled chip pan with only a handful of chips then added a little more about an hour after…once you wrap the ribs after the first 3hrs they don’t take anymore smoke being in the aluminum foil…good luck

Either way works! I usually do meat side down, though. That way the meat sits in all that goodness that drips down.

I’ve never tried it but I see a lot people who use coke on their ribs. Never hurts to try ! Actually might have to test it out myself

I tried the basic 3-2-1 process yesterday on my Masterbuilt electric smoker. I kept the temp at 225 for the entire 6 hours. The ribs were cooked but nowhere near "fall off the bone". In fact I ended up putting half of them back in at 250 for another 3 hours. And still the meat stuck to the ribs and required a knife to get off. Just wondered if I was doing something wrong.

I’ve noticed at times my masterbuilt temp is off- I could set it at 225f and then put another thermometer in and it’s actually 200-205. Maybe try that and make sure your temps are reading correctly. Seems like you did everything right otherwise !

@@MeatyMike Thanks. I will check the temp. I was also wondering if maybe my foil wrap wasn't tight enough. I am thinking maybe I really need to triple wrap it to seal in the juices better.

When the ribs are wrapped i put them meat side down. brown sugar, butter, and honey on the foil, put the ribs meat side down, then put the same ingredients on top. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🍻

I have an offset wood smoker I love it!!! I got the electric smoker for Christmas I figure smoking ribs will be the first thing I try to smoke in it. Which do you prefer smoked ribs from electric smoker or from the offset smoker?

Can’t go wrong with an offset but I think they’re both really good! Electric smokers always produce some great meats.

@@andrew40000 I did, I put half and half apple cider vinegar/Water. When I got the meat out, I grabbed the bone to try and cut and the rib and it slipped right out the meat (fell off the bone)

Mike, we just bought a Masterbuilt 30” digital electric smoker and we’re going to make your 3-2-1 ribs today! We’ve seasoned it and we were wanting to know if we should add any water to the bowl. Is there a rule about only adding water for certain foods? If so, which? Thank you for a great video!! And for any advice you can offer, too!!

I’ve done it both ways but it never hurts to add the water to the bowl for all cooks! Helps keep meat from drying out. Enjoy your ribs !

Do you spray your ribs? I have read some people will spritz them with an Apple cider mix after 90 minutes, then they will spray every 30 or so until they go into the foil.

Hey Mike! I usually don’t spray my ribs, yes a lot of people do that to help with the bark but I personally don’t find it necessary all of the time. I’d try it both ways when you do them then you’ll have your own preference ! Thanks for watching. Cheers 🍻

Good video! I've done this before and I gotta be honest, even though the results were delicious, this basically reduces the ribs to pulled pork. I'd much rather smoke a butt and do the 'competition rib' butter, honey and brown sugar wrap to the butt.

I do not , if you have a Masterbuilt electric smoker that is on legs and off the ground, this side smoker will fit right in no need to buy anything else! Mine isn’t, so I bought a couple duct fittings from my local hardware store to fit it in.

Great video. I am new to smoking and have a few questions if someone could help me. Do you soak the wood chips? Also, I see some people use mustard as a binder and spray apple juice every so often. Any advice would be helpful.

thanks for watching ! no, never soak your wood chips. soaking gives off steam, not smoke and it’s not necessary. mustard as a binder is great, you don’t taste the mustard, but the point is to help your rub/seasoning stick to the ribs. spritzing with apple juice helps with adding sugar throughout the cook to help build a good bark as it cooks. spritz every hour for additional flavor !

Smoking ribs for the first time today. The recipe I have uses apple cider instead of honey. I was thinking the last hour, they would come out of the smoker and go on the grill on low-medium heat. Any difference between the smoker and grill to finish them off during the last hour?

that’s a good question i’ve never tried finishing ribs on the grill. id say it’s worth the shot! never hurts to try. let me know how they turn out if that’s what you decide to do !

Does placement matter bottom middle or top on master built?

If it’s closer to the bottom it’s closer to the heat source so it might cook a little faster. If you have the space to choose middle or top works! If your smoker is full you can rotate them. Cheers 🍻

Does a full rack of ribs fit on one grate in the Masterbuilt? Or did you have to cut a portion off to fit? Does it need to lay flat on the grate or can you stand up the ribs and curl them to fit if they’re too long? TIA!

i put this rack on an angle and they just fit! if you have larger racks you may have to cut them in half. to be honest i’ve never tried standing them up. happy smoking !
