On this episode I continue with the ongoing restoration of this 1979 Kenworth W900A truck to turn it into a tribute movie truck to the one used in the 1977 classic movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. On this episode I wanted to try something new, so I purchased my own powder machine and small toaster oven to try my hand at powder coating. First on the list was to etch the chrome rings that are just standing out too much and will not look right unless they’re coated black, so they needed to be sand blasted and then I was ready to go. Powder coating is quite easy and very forgiving and now that I know it works so well, I’m planning on getting a larger over and already have plans for many more components on the truck to get coated in future episodes.
