The snap isn't loud... just a little click, I kindof like it! I mentioned this on the other video, but the magsafe phone mounts, especially the scosche magic mounts that are magsafe compatible, are rock solic mounts. I have even gone offroading in my jeep and it stayed in place!
I just got mine today and I agree, if felt cheap, but is comfortable. I have the 2nd gen of this as well and liked that too, that’s why I decided to go with this.

the 2 broke on my but i had high hopes for the 3 pro, it feels SO CHEAP i really question the durability of this. i anticipate a few months max before the hinges break but we'll see
Great review, I wanna give an update on the 3.0. I've had mine for 8 months and it has broken. The plastic hinges are actually still going strong, but if you have a 3.0, you'll see that the plastic hinges are attached to 2 panels that in turn are glued to the center plate that pops out. The panels are coming unglued from the center plate. In addition, I've found that I tend to hook a finger under the edge of the center plate to pop it out. Over time, because that plate is so thin, a hairline crack has started to develop on the center. Overall, I love that the 3.0 is so much thinner and doesn't need a separate metal ring to attach. But the plastic feels and is too cheap and flimsy. Advantages of the 1.0 is more durable materials and ease of use. I can just slide my fingers into the rubber loop (one-handed) instead of potentially using 1 hand to hold my phone while another hand pops open the back plate. And then I actually have to use my fingers to grip it instead of them being held in place with the rubber band. Overall, if they could combine the one-handed usability and materials from 1.0 with the lightness of the 3.0, we'd have a refined product on our hands
It feels cheap and mine already broke. Like around the grip. Now it looks like a donut but with jagged edges, so I know it broke. I told them on instagram and they blocked me
@@Miketv8 nah I’m good. I had other issues like the grip sticking to my MagSafe car mount when I try to take off my phone. Grip sticks to it and comes off my phone. Had same issue with 2.0. I just rather not support them any more if they blocked me cause I expressed how I felt. I’ll just stick with my MagSafe popsocket
That’s too bad you had such bad luck with the product. I have used oh snap since the first round one that came out. I have never had it come off the phone when I remove it from a MagSafe stand or mount. Additionally, since I didn’t need to put my finger under the elastic of previous versions, all the time, mine was able to last a long time, and none of them ever broke. So far, version 3.0 has been a success, although I do believe the elastic of 2.0 is more secure.
@@mtalio2858 don’t get me wrong. I used the grip 1.0 and 2.0. I LOVED them. But I was surprised that this 3.0 broke and I’m not happy that they decided to block me because I expressed how I felt. After I’ve expressed many times how much I loved their products on their instagram posts. Now I just use the MagSafe popsocket and I just take it off when I don’t need it. Like when I go out and most of the time at work since I hardly use my phone much there. What a shame
Just received mine in the mail. I agree with it feeling cheap, but it is comfortable. I am coming from a popsocket, but want the ability to use a magafe charger. I will use it for a few days, but I am worried with how thin the handle is. I really hope it doesn't break.
Thanks for the video, I personally like taking my 2.0 off and playing with it since it's connected with just magnets but the 3 which I just got would mean I have to commit and not to it and not take it off to play with it 😕
I have mine as well on a case but while using my Apple MagSafe battery pack, after the initial minute of connecting, it would stop charging and almost disconnects the whole battery pack connection. Are you having this similar problem with a MagSafe charger?
@@Miketv8 I don’t have any other case and I haven’t tried it without the case yet. However, since it is quite easy to remove and reattached (after the initial first struggle with the adhesive), I just interchange it since I primarily want to keep my case on at all time while still taking advantage of both grip and battery pack
Sounds like it might be your case. Try it without a case and maybe try a thinner case instead. Hope that helps. Sorry it doesn’t work with your current set up.
The first OhSnap I got, I loved it and it lasted for a bit over a year. It finally broke and I had to get a new phone anyway, the iPhone X was getting really out of date. I got the 2nd OhSnap and a case from them- I was disappointed. There were a few problems: the case is HEAVY, and the new grip felt cheaper- sense the sides were made of metal, the phone was too heavy for the grip to stick to anything; it would just slide down. Then the rubber on it broke within a few weeks. I was very disappointed, but I saw there was an ad for the 3rd one. I held out hope and ordered it. I feel the same way you do- it feels reeeeaally cheap and the loud and tinny click sound doesn’t inspire confidence in its longevity as an auxiliary product to something I use very regularly. The first one was just fine, but I probably won’t be able to find a new one as easily
On mine, the leg didn’t break but it popped out when I was using it. I can stick it back it and it’ll work somewhat but it’ll pop out again. I’ve contacted support
You can also put your finger between the hinge... I usually use my right hand like I am holding the phone with the mount, lift the two fingers away and a gap for my left hand opens up in the hinges so I can slide a finger in!
@@stevenscop it isn't uncomfortable, I have thick fingers, and it isn't tight either... but it is more secure for reaching really far on my phone screen, and for when I REALLY don't want to drop it.
Love it thanks! I’m coming from a pop socket with magnetic base, but it’s a bit bulky. My only worry is durability of this “3 pro” and wonder if it’ll last. The last gens seem to have had issues with breaking. Do they give a warranty?
Honestly, I've had a gen 2 since it basically came out, and it is still holding strong. There is a crack in the outer ring, but has not seemed to effect it so far.
I wonder does this work with magnetic phone mounts? Been using one in my car for many years. It'll last a lifetime unlike anything with moving parts that closes onto that phone.
Yeah it works as long as your magnetic mount is positioned like the MagSafe rings on the phone/grip. I have a magnetic wireless charger in my car and it works great even when off-road
I just got into the popsocket trend. Currently using the PopSockets MagSafe PopGrip on a MagSafe Mous Aramid Fibre Phone Case. With a Dragon Grip tape (magsafe) on the back. On an iPhone 14 Pro. And the socket is solidly on. Strong magnetic pull. As heavy as the 14 pro is (with the case), I'm confident it won't be dislodging. But it's thick. It's annoying putting in and removing from my back pocket. Keeps catching. So I just use it when I'm at home. Don't need to put my phone in my pocket. Which is why I'm interested in the Ohsnap 3 Pro. I'm wondering how you have yours installed. Is that a magsafe case, and you are attaching the Ohsnap directly to it? Or did you attach the adhesive magnetic ring to the back of the case? So the Ohsnap can connect that way. If you are just using the Ohsnap 3 directly to a magsafe case, are you comfortable that it's securely on? Your phone won't be sliding off. I've seen another review, and the guy said that the Ohsnap 3 IS magsafe, and can be used directly (no adhesive ring necessary) to a magsafe case. But the connection was pretty weak. And he didn't feel confident that his phone wouldn't slide or pop off. Can you confirm the strength of the direct connection to a magsafe case? Thanks.
The Snap 3 has adhesive already on it so it’s sticky and magnetizes to the MagSafe (I do have a MagSafe case). It’s very secure. I was using it on a boat today filming dolphins from above and I wasn’t even worried. I say go for it! I think they’re offering 35% off for Black Friday
I have been a fan since gen 1, and I was super down to try gen 2, but I don't know how I feel about gen 3 yet. I'm hoping the new car mount and kickstand options are better for this one. Also, how is the car mount/charger? The old one was iffy in how it stuck to the car vent and charged.
The magnets are strong. I don’t have their car mount/charger but I got one on Amazon that fits my set up and it’s great. I even went off-roading in my Jeep and it didn’t fall off once. I’ve been waiting for a review on this before making a purchase. I’m currently using an andobil version of what this does but with the andobil version you still need to remove it before charging. How strong or well does it stick to metal surfaces? I see that it’s plastic so it might slide down?
@@Miketv8 for my use case I stick my phone to gym equipment which is usually not at a 90 degree angle and has a slick surface. One thing with the andobil version is that there is a thin rubber coating that adds more grip. Although the snap pro can stick to metal surfaces will it budge easily when shaken?
Has it come off of your phone case before? I find that some strong magnet stands/phone holders yanks the grip off of my phone, almost like the adhesive doesn’t help too much.

To be clear, it magnetically places itself on the MagSafe within the phone. However, it is intended to be stuck to the back of the phone using the adhesive. It is, however, removable and replaceable hundreds of times.

Yes and no. I haven’t had any problems yet but I was thinking if a child were to forcefully grab you phone while you’re using it (as they do sometimes lol), that may pull it too far out and break. Maybe I’ll order a few more and do a video showing how much it takes to break?
The oh snap itself has magnets built-in. That is what helps it with MagSafe charging. However, there is an adhesive that sticks it to the phone or case. It is removable and they advertise it can be removed and replaced hundreds of times.
It's just a shame it isn't MagSafe and has to be attached by adhesive. They say the magnets in the iPhone aren't "strong enough." Pop sockets with MagSafe and the Rhinoshield MagSafe grip work pretty well.
I don’t mind the adhesive as, it is possible to remove the 3.0. I have found, however, with grips that attach via MagSafe only that any push laterally on the grip and it slides off the phone. That is why I have always enjoyed oh snap. Either previous versions with the metallic ring or this version with the adhesive, it is firmly attached, and will not come off at all.

Since they ditched the band (thank goodness since I barely used my ohsnap 2 in fear of it breaking again after a month), ig it's no longer "oh snap[ping]" into place. I’ve supported this company through 4 iterations of their grips and I just got this one today and it feels like cheap trash. These thin plastic strips and already stress mark hinges are NOT going to last. Also you didn’t show off the finger insertion way of holding it, which was how all their previous versions worked and how I intended to use this one. It SUCKS. You have to stretch it out all the way and then finagle your ringer through the center of all the strips. Not easy or convenient at all.
kinda wish they left it the same as the previous one, much easier to pop it out. I didnt own the old one but it looked like you could just slide your finger in it and it would pop out.
I gently pried off the metal ring from version 2.0 and kept it. I like it also in that you can easily utilize the grip one-handed. However, the reason they are moving away from the elastic is that it would break. It never broke on any of my previous versions but, I believe, people mishandled it. I would only use the grip as needed for fairly short periods of time, and I never had any problem with any weakness or breakage.
What's the charge time with the item vs without? Try to know your tech better and don't use words like "whatever it's called" you could have done a segway to another video and increase your views
Charge time is a tiny bit slower with the snap3pro but hardly noticeable. I don’t make videos for views. I shoot in one take as if I were explaining the pros and cons to a friend. Sorry if I didn’t meet your expectations.
The grip will not work all cases, and in fact 90% of the cases you will try won't work. Gluck contacting the company to get a list of compatible cases, because they don't have one. They told me to just not use a case with their grip. Worthless and no way to return even though this is false advertising (since they say it works with cases). All I want is to know which cases work. Not even reddit can help here as every thread eventually concludes that all cases users have tried do not work.
