In this video we see what is faster between the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite chips and the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips by Apple. We even compare the Snapdragon to the M4 chip with benchmarks. We discuss which chips are the fastest and some of the costs of the hardware that these chips will go into to. If you are interested in seeing if the Qualcomm Snapdragon chips in the new Copilot + PCs, are faster then Apple's line of M3 chips then you might want to watch this video. We provide extensive benchmarks for 6 different CPUs to see what chip you should consider getting.
Here are some of the computers with the Snapdragon or M3 line of CPUs:
Microsoft Surface Pro - Snapdragon X Plus - amzn.to/4awz2r1
Microsoft Surface Pro - Snapdragon X Elite - amzn.to/4atft2Z
M3 MacBook Air - amzn.to/3QX1XOb

The battery life was the only thing keeping me from switching from my iPad to a surface. Now I’m sold. Apples stubbornness to improve the iPad and actually make it more of a computer has driven me up the wall. Ridiculously powerful, but doesn’t support Jit. So it can’t even run ds games at 720p. Now has hardware accelerated ray tracing, but blender can’t come because of apples stupid App Store guidelines. An exponential waste of potential

Reason for M4 achieving high Geekbench 6 SC score is because it's based on ARMv9 that adds SME. GB6 has some CPU ML workload test so the overall score is higher. But since XE has a dedicated NPU for ML workload, this GB6 score may not matter that much.

Apple also has a competitive NPU (the Neural Engine) in the M4. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon has a slight edge here with 40 TOPS compared to the M4 with 38 TOPS. This is a huge leap from the M3, which had 18 TOPS. Previously, Apple placed its strongest NPU in mobile phone chip designs. The iPhone 15 Pro, with an A17 Pro chip, has a 35 TOPS NPU. The iPhone 16 Pro might have a stronger NPU than the Snapdragon X Elite.
@TamasKiss-yk4st
@TamasKiss-yk4st Месяц назад
@TzaraDuchamp that is only based on how they measured it.. Apple's M3 was rated for 18 TOPS at FP16 precision, but the M4 is rated for 38 TOPS with INT8. Apple started to use the "bigger number" after the others also used that.. but in reality they made about 10-15% improvements in every generarion. It's similar like the 100mph (miles per hour) = 160kmh (kilometer per hour), Apple only showed you the smaller number before and now they also switched to the higher number.

Intel is the one that needs to be worried not Apple. Qualcomm chips won’t run macOS (at least not officially). Many Mac users use Macs for macOS and to get away from windows so there’s little Qualcomm can do about that, no matter how efficient its chips are. But Intel needs to pull a rabbit out of a hat and get its power consumption under control before the Client market starts to move against it. Intel now has to fend off AMD( which is about to drop a dominant shot across Intel’s bow with Zen 5) and now Qualcomm. Intel already lost market share in data center. It could begin to suffer in Client as well if it’s not careful…….

@j340_official I agree, that is why the OS market is huge on Microsoft side compared to MacOS, because people are probably using Macs because they don't have a taste for windows, which is really minority. M4 is a really good chip. TSMC 3nm N3E appears to be amazing. When watching RU-vid videos my m4 iPad uses 3.5 to 4.5 Watts !! I think the biggest winner is not Microsoft or Apple or Qualcomm. But rather, it is us, the consumer. Apple and now Qualcomm are proving that ARM can exist in consumer machines outside of smartphones and tablets. They prove the power efficiency of ARM. Their success may well incentivize others to enter the arena. Like nvidia. Or maybe AMD may revive its arm project. So arm’s market share on PC may well grow. And, to try to maintain market share (rather than lose it) AMD and Intel will have to respond and compete well on efficiency and performance per watt. So who wins as a result of competition ? We the consumer. With efficient chips we get thinner machines with less fan noise. And even mini PCs that have more performance than desktop towers from a couple years ago. I’m excited to see how it all shakes out. Intel is claiming its Lunar Lake SoC will be very efficient and performant. And the upcoming lakes like panther lake and nova lake may well be efficient as well. AMD will obviously produce zen 5 and 6. So it will be a very interesting few years to see how much better our chips get.

Could Nivida enter the marekt? Their previous attempt with Tegra chips didn't quite deliver on performance or battery life.
@j340_official
@j340_official Месяц назад
@@peterparker2068 we could say the same about Qualcomm and its prior iterations in terms not quite hitting the mark either. Yet it pulled these Oryon cores out of a hat (thanks to Nuvia which is thanks to ex Apple employees). But nvidia does have a grace cpu for data center. I don’t know how efficient it is or how performant but it does exist. So to me, so long as windows on arm can be licensed to ARM third parties besides Qualcomm, there’s nothing stopping other entrants from entering. And nvidia could be motivated to try. It could bundle its GPUs. Wild speculation here, but nvidia could take things onto the third rail and pull the grenade of not letting anyone (ASUS Lenovo etc) use its GPUs in laptop unless they use an nvidia CPU. That’s a nightmare option for Intel and possibly AMD. But it could happen to force sales of ARM laptops. Intel needs to be very careful. But this probably won’t happen given that nvidia is likely to have lower sales under this arrangement.

I agree that everybody's a winner when there is healthy competition. Windows is still the largest player so I'm guessing that most developers will be porting their x86 applications to the Snapdragon platform, and gamers will have their AMD/Intel PCs to run their games. I think the competition is pushing Apple to stay ahead, to me that is a good thing for us. My wife finally switched back like the rest of us from her XPS to a M3 Air and is loving it. What I'm really curious about is to see how the translation layer from x86 to ARM works in Windows for ARM. The laptops are fast enough to compete but if that doesn't end up working at least somewhat close to Rosetta's performance no one will switch. The Signal65 report is out as well now and shows the M3 Air vs 4 of the Snapdragon models. Heat definitely looks to be an issue and they aren't really faster as you showed. While the M1 chips in Macbooks deliver outstanding performance and battery life, any advancements in these areas from Snapdragon would be welcome. A key advantage for these new laptops is their generous base configuration of 16GB RAM. This stands in contrast to Apple's recent Macbook releases, which remain limited to 8GB RAM as the starting point (the first Macbook with 8GB base RAM launched in 2018). While the 256GB base storage might be sufficient for some, my experience with Macbooks suggests that even with basic use, I ended using around 12GB of RAM so giving consumers 8GB of RAM is like spitting on their loyal customers. Swapping memory to compensate for insufficient RAM can negatively impact performance as well as the longevity of the SSD.

@@craigneidel By the mid-2010s, Intel had become a marketing company because it was the dominant player in the PC chip market and the limitations of the x86 design. Meanwhile, Apple and Qualcomm pushed the ARM capabilities from a smartphone chip to a chip that can be used across multiple segments. When Apple released the M1 chip in 2020, it was a game changer and the first tidal wave of technology change for the PC chip. Intel and AMD responded by increasing the power supply to their chips to claim that they still have the most powerful chips. Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite is the second and most significant tidal wave. Windows still dominates the corporate world, and laptops play a major component in corporate sales. The corporate world is looking for powerful and efficient (long battery life) laptops that work well for the Snapdragon X Elite chip. Intel and AMD will face an increasing loss of market share if they don't respond to Apple and Qualcomm.
