What I love about these video series is that it really allows you to hear more of the sounds being played. Sounds that are often normally hidden away when you only listen to them, but reveal themselves with the visual cues. It really reiterates how beautiful the instrumentation is.
That reveals an even cooler fact: even with all those instruments booming in these songs, so packed with creativity, the sound engineers found a way to make sure you can still hear everything. Mixing more than 6 instruments is usually hard, and it gets worse with the more you add, but they still made it work.
I swear to god Chris Bullock has got to be one of my favorite saxophonists. And I have 0 shame in saying his solo on this song is my favorite sax solo of all time. Every single note is so damn clean, and I will never get over that insane run at 3:24. Between this and trinity, I have absolutely fallen in love with this man's style.
I love that his solos are nothing like Bob's. Compare this solo or the one on Trinity to Bob's on pineapple. Absolutely incredible solos but nothing alike. Just another reason this band is incredible.
I've always loved his style, especially when we get to hear more of his harmonic vocabulary like on this one. It's a little bit older now but his solo on Slow Demon has broken my brain for years.
100%, the contrast of Bob and Chris's styles is part of what makes Snarky's solo lineup interesting and eclectic, both are monster players for sure.@@letsdeduce

I have been so obsessed with the rhythm of this song 🎶💖
Anyone else hearing the heavy Brasil vibes on this track? From the harmony to the piano frases in the head, to the aesthetic of the guitars and percussions, this all feels the super classy Brasil to me! Beautiful!
Chris Bullock is so damn good. Every time he solos, it's something I've never heard before and/or something that fits beautifully in a transition or groove. Not to mention his woodwind versatility. Amazing.
I can NOT listen to these guys without smiling! What they do musically is just amazing on both an intellectual AND spiritual level. The intricate melodies, complex harmonies, fascinating cordal changes and modalities, and outstanding rythyms, all flawlessly performed by some of the BEST musicians in the business ALWAYS leaves me in an altered state of mind. In other words... I LOVE THESE GUYS!!! Thanks Michael, Bob, Zach, Chris, Chris, Mark, Justin, Bill, Nate, Shuan, Maz, Larnell, J.T., Marcello, Keita, Jamison, and yes; Sput and Cory. You are ALL truly inspirational and I reall enjoy your artistry and craft.
One thing about these videos and knowing how tight of a window they all had to learn these songs...you can see the relief and excitement on their faces in them actually working out.
If I´m not wrong, he also plays the (fucking awesome) solos in Honiara and East Bay - videos for those will come soon, hopefully. But I agree with you, he gets very little spotlight.
Can you imagine what it must be like as a musician to wake up each day and go to work with these guy?!? I mean, just look at the expressions on Zach Brock's face as Chris Bullock is blowing that fantastic solo! Talent recognizes talent and these guys are not only talented individually, but as a group. THANKS PUPPIES!!
This band is the best modern jazz formation. I saw them last week into an antique arena in France (Jazz à vienne). One of the best show of my entiere life so far. Snarky fucking puppy GOAT !!!!!!
Yo i was listening to some Pat Metheny yesterday and it made me think of how glad i am that bands like Snarky are carrying the torch. Now i hear this shit and it totally has influences from Metheney's song First Circle, particularly the live version off the record The Road to You. First circle more like full circle amiright fellas 😎
Another banger! I feel though, that it ends a bit too soon. My favourite part is towards the end - the transition into the rythm just after Chris’s solo always makes me smile. Oh what could’ve been!
Put on a good set of headphones/earbuds and crank this up. There is so much interplay in the arrangement that regular speakers can not reproduce. Good song!
Que ricooo Uruguay está en la casa a todo Candombe 🇺🇾 saludos genios tremendo tema súper gozado y no se podía esperar menos de talentosos músicos como ustedes, saludos desde Uruguay con cariño y alegría Jhonny Neves.
I always wondered why I did not see the other versions online. I bought it from their site when it first came out. I still think the chosen version is the best one.
Unreeeeeal!!! Man it must be awesome to see you guys in person. Been in awe of you for ages, and it's for sure taken the music I play to new heights. If yall ever stop by New Zealand again, must try get tickets to see
Y'all soooooooooo need to be the main Soundtrack music for the next James Bond movie!☺️ Hollywood need to stop playing! All Y'all are a force to be reckoned with!
Oh my my my my....Another jaw dropping, head bopping Snarky Puppy chart. The complexity of their music that they perform so flawlessly while making it look second nature is just mind boggling. So...did I count three trap set players? Why? And how do they somehow divide up the texture?
Michael League likes what each drummer brings to the band. They work it out beforehand who is going to play each phrase and then cue each other for when a trade off is coming up.
Is great, as always... now ive noticed... 3 drummers, a million percussionists, a hundread guys on the winds, a few guitarrists, they have like at least 3 in each instrument... but just ONE bassist... that happens to be the leader, the boss, the owner of all this.. idk... kept me thinking.
This is one of my favorite songs on the Album! Thank you for the video. But somehow the Crashes on the drums are messed up in this version. On Spotify and Tidal they sound fine but it's almost as if someone put a Flanger or Wahwah Effect on them here. Is that only me?
