The way she ended up pausing getting lost with her story from being nervous is exactly how I am trying to explain things to anyone in general 😂 I hate it
she was nervous, her idiot brother made her do all the speaking where legally, she was unable to drive in NYC due to her being 17 at the time. legal driving nyc age is 18.

The fact that the kids had 2 receipts placing them in certain places at certain times frommachines that they don't control that totally contradicted the tow people's written info and the town owner tried to claim they "proved" anything is not just laughable but corrupt.

The girl did great testifying and was believable and nervous and likeable imo. All these nasty comments must be from people who either never were 17 or don't have teenagers. Judge much? And according to one comment, the fact the mom didn't throw a fit at the end because she knew she didn't have evidence to prove damage means she was lying? Maybe it just means she has class and is setting an example for the kids. Wtf.

So is getting stranded and needing a tow. People hate on towtruck operators until they need one. Our company doesn't do illegally parked vehicle impounding, so we don't find ourselves in quite the same situation as the guys in the video. We do take abandoned vehicles from parking lots occasionally. I keep an eye out for such vehicles and advise our relations manager, allowing him to contact the property owner and offer our service to remove the vehicle(s) in question. Such vehicles are usually becoming eyesores, filthy and with tires going flat. Another telltale sign is brake rotors turned brown with rust. Months of sitting does that. In those cases, it's still a requirement that we contact the local police department and report the VIN to be run through the computer to verify that they don't have it on a stolen list. Once all the hurdles are cleared legally, then we get to drag the turd away. Sometimes it's loaded with cobwebs and their spinners. Others have been placed in spots that are difficult to get the truck to. We have to overcome those obstacles without damaging the vehicle or the truck. It's amazing how people who no longer have a use for car keys still won't leave them where they could be useful.
FYI, towing an AWD vehicle on anything but a flat bed will destroy the differential and other drivetrain components. They definitely damaged her car when they towed it whether it was legal or not.
That's not true. You can tow them for a short distance for a mile or two, anything longer than that will cause damage. If the tow yard is close, the tow trucks won't use dollies.
They have spotters..they literally sit there & wait until you walk into a store then take your car! I seen it happen before..someone walked in inside Popeyes to order their food..and the tow company was outside of the establishment watching people park, waiting for the right moment.. The person who walked in the store..I told her she shouldn't park there, I literally just saw somebody car get towed..she went outside and saw them pulling up behind her car..she wasn't in there for 3mins smh..she cussed them out & put them on blast for trying to tow her car..its wrong! It's a huge scam in NYC and needs to be stopped!
I agree .. I called the licensing bureau and told them what happened and they said they better pay otherwise they’re going to not renew their license. They have so many bad reports on their record one after another they’re total shysters with no heart they leave handicapped people stranded it’s just horrible.
But did he spit on it in the carpark and so therefore knew the car had been towed and then lied to his sister and her friends, remember according to the sister they didn't know where the car was until they found the signs.
I really enjoyed the daughter testifying. The son is not as articulate and was probably too nervous to be the primary speaker. The daughter is very proactive, acting like the mom of the group. She's nervous but smart. She kept all her receipts and the fast tracker really came in handy in helping to prove that the tow company representative was not being honest in reporting the time of the tow.
I agree but those guys needed to be made stupid.. They caused so much drama that day and after.. I had no car for almost a week 2000 later.. thank god it was covered by my Warrenty..
A tow company illegally towing people's cars? Who would have ever guessed 🙄 I live in Baltimore and if I had a nickel for every time I saw a tow truck just waiting by the side of the road waiting to see catch someone off guard and make a quick buck, I'd be a millionaire.
That tow truck owner knew that he had a spotter out there the spotter jumped the gun and I don't think he ever got a call from the owner of the complex
I like Judge Milian enormously; such a sparkling personality but no-nonsense when it happens to suit her. Unlike J.J., she is not always "feisty" therefore when *she* goes off, you really know it!
@@KamalasNotLikeUs just to clarify, nobody lied everything we told us the truth my son didn’t spit on the guy he spent on the truck because he threatened the kids that he wasn’t gonna give back the car and my daughter was crying and he got upset that his sister was upset so he spit on the truck they held my car hostage and then I need a $2000 worth of work..
There are several things at play here. Often tow services use spotters as opposed to waiting for a call from an actual property owner/manager regarding an illegally parked car. Often tow companies give kickbacks to property owners/managers for tows, as has been proven in investigative reports posted here on RU-vid. Spotters also get commissions. That said, having lived in several beach cities, parking is often unavailable, or unreasonably priced and scarce, and visitors can often seem entitled making it difficult for locals to park or do business. It's also a huge source of revenue for cities, who often make many millions (above costs) for ticketing and towing, so it's not in their interest to have suitable parking available for all. As in all things, follow the money. Bottom line, I prefer state beaches, often there is much more parking available, it's also cheaper, and really cheap if you get an annual pass.
Well, I've been told before that tow trucks do in fact just kidnap vehicles whenever it suits them, whether the person who parked is in the wrong or not. Now I know its true. No doubt they thought a bunch of kids would be easy prey. At least the mom taught the kids about the importance of getting and keeping your toll tickets to prove you couldn't have been in the parking lot at the time the tow company claimed you were reported for parking and going to the beach, because you were still on the road, not in anyone's parking lot. Your ticket proved it. Having a shopping receipt, not with just a bottle of water or a few sodas, but practically everything in the store, helped a lot, too. One thing or a few things takes almost no time, but shopping for a lot of things takes a lot of time.
That girl smacking her gums and all of them with their arms crossed. I totally believe he spit on the car. It was still wrong to tow it but still not a good look on those kids.
@@housekrell8811 they didn't do anything wrong, their car was illegally towed. It has nothing to do with race, it has to do with another tow company breaking the law
@@housekrell8811 being white was not the issue. The one thing that sunk them is that the tow truck driver was an average slacker employee not wondering why his bosses are so stingy on his documentation (I saw it every job I went) clocking the call in at 12:30 when the automatic toll system clocked the car a couple blocks away at 12.29.05 that became undeniable.
Y'know, usually i'm on the tow company's side, this however was pretty clear cut. The tow truck company clearly had an itchy trigger finger and fudged the times on their paper wok. Great job on the plaintiff's daughter's part, she was really well spoken and touched on all of the important details when presenting the case.
They disagreed about the distance between the toll booth and the strip mall. The defendants were quick to say its only 2 blocks. This actually hurts their story because the tow company claims there was no spotter and the tow was legit, called in by the mgmt co. The tow ticket said the "call" was at 1230. Well...if the plaintiffs crossed the ez pass at 12:29 and the strip mall is 2 blocks away (according to tow company), a "call" to tow at 12:30 would be from a spotter. With that said...I still can't help but wonder if the kids didn't split up or all walk over to the beach first, even if it was to check it out or set up some of their equipment. It's still a long time time between 1230 and their store checkout at 1:22. The plaintiff said the sandwiches took forever but idk if that could be proven or disproved.
Ever visit a busy shopping center near the beach before? They had to drive from the toll to the shopping center, which was about 8-10 mins. Ime, you circle the parking lot to find parking. You get out of the car and leisurely walk into the shop. On a busy beach day, you're waiting to order, your friends are splitting up looking for snacks, scanning the shelves, should we get lime chips or salt & vinegar? Do they have my favorite dip? Oh wait don't forget we need ice, where do they keep the ice? etc You order and wait for your order to be completed and you're in a large group so it takes several minutes. You pay for everything, sandwiches, snacks. Could easily take 30-40 mins.
I tried to get video of the day from Key Food but they refused.. it was so busy there at the store it was 90 degrees that day.. they are all in on it..The tow truck owner was so cocky and nasty..
Yes he was very cocky and nasty and the driver too.. the driver was threatening my kids that he wasn’t gonna give the car back and my daughter started crying and then when they found out they had to come up with the cash because they don’t accept credit cards. That was even worse they were stranded far from home. It was just a nightmare, and the thing is, my kids didn’t even do anything wrong. That’s why it was a principal thing, if you take peoples cars, make sure you’re taking it because they really did do something wrong and make sure you tow it the right way you don’t just drag a car along the street when it’s an all-wheel-drive car he caused a lot of damage to a lot of cars and if you look up his name, he’s a creep
You can tell that kid expected that "did you spit on the car?" question from the judge by how quick he answered it. Foolish answer however, he should have admitted he did it and just say he was upset at the time
If the son spit on the tow truck and the driver, when did that happen? He said when he was leaving so wouldn’t that mean he seen how they towed the car? I’m always so confused by the lack of info asked for😂
🧐 Great point! I didn’t pick up on that but, agree with you 💯 about the lack of digging further into the details. Clearly I missed that but I’m not a judge! 👩⚖️ 😂
@@staceyslaysdragons691 There could not be any digging further since the son said at first he didn't recall and then it didn't happen at all. His testimony after that would be suspect.
Hi I wasn’t there my son took my car to the beach was his first time ever going to the beach driving himself I got a phone call I don’t even know what time saying that they can’t find my car. They went to the police station which is close by the cops couldn’t really help them. They said maybe your car was towed then they were looking around. They were talking to people in that parking lot and they said oh yeah, the tow truck company they come and tow cars your car was probably towed but they went right to key food to get sandwiches and drinks and such to bring to the beach. My daughter has been to Rockaway Beach before so she knows you can’t park there and they were going to go on the street and find parking they come out. Car is gone. Went to the police station. Can’t find the car talk to other people in the parking lot. Some people said they saw my car getting towed. They then called me I called Food, they weren’t helpful at all. They said they didn’t see anything on the camera. Finally my kids were able to track down the sign or something in the lot. They saw the tow truck sitting there so they went over to it and the tow truck driver was very nasty with them. He was wanting them and threatening them saying he wasn’t gonna give back the car like they did something wrong because my kids were like we were in the store and he got mad because he said he didn’t believe them and that somebody called to say the car was parked there. They were at the beach. My daughter started crying and my son did spit on the truck not on the driver because he saw his sister upset. They were stranded in a place far away from home with no money and nobody was helping us I had to drive all the way over there in my daughters car and then they only accepted cash. They only accept credit cards Monday through Friday Monday through Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sundays cash only, it was a joke.. and they pulled my car from the front dragging my back wheels. I have an all-wheel-drive car cost $2000 in damage I was without a car for almost a week it was a nightmare.
My son took a picture of the spotter because people in the neighborhood pointed them out and he started cursing and yelling at my son, and I found it so laughable when the tow truck owner the bald guy was saying he was spot is illegal. All of a sudden he’s missed illegal he’s so corrupt.
Jeffster ive been watching this show since I was a kid and I’ve never seen her throw a black woman out for smacking her lips or rolling her eyes. I’ve seen her throw all kinds of people out if they’re loud and out of control. Any examples?
@Jeffster That is such BS. I'm ready to call out racist a-holes but JM is NOT one. Stop trying to bring in issues that are not an issue. If you have watched JM for a long time, you know she is not a racist. Ridiculous.
The plaintiffs might look innocent enough, but the one's speaking displayed actions that are not the most virtuous. The male spitting at the tow guy and then denying it, the girl handling taking to a judge like she's chatting with her friend in high school, and worst of all, the mother seriously padding the lawsuit. today's society is asking, begging, for a crisis where we all become very humble.
Whats wrong with the way she was speaking? She's a 17 year old girl, not a professional in a career. She spoke the way she felt the most comfortable speaking as someone in the law field, you have to be competent to keep up with the speaking style of testifier. If she were to try and sound 'Professional' it could have hampered the merit of her testimony. The best way for her to speak, is how she speaks every single day.
I put in for expenses for getting my money back that I had to pay cash for that my card was towed for no reason I wanted my money back it cost over $2000 to repair my car thank God it was covered by the warranty and I had no car for almost a week and I wasn’t sure if you could put in pain and suffering because it was hours trying to find my car. I had to drive all the way over there to Rockaway in my daughters car and then my car broke down. I had to get it towed to Nissan. All my kids never even left the parking lot never went to the beach and my son did spit on the truck never spit on the man the tow truck guy but he was harassing my children and he made my daughter cry and he said I’m not giving you back your car. I’m gonna make sure you don’t get your car back he was threatening themand my son got mad because he saw his sister crying never spit on the guy
I can’t believe the tow truck owner gonna say he don’t see how they won! Sir your driver messed up he thought they was going to the beach he lied! Y’all illegally towed they vehicle.
This part! Theyre proven liars because they didnt get a call at 12:30pm. They probably damaged this woman's car all because of their greed and laziness. They'll damage another car and lie again.
They definitely didn’t put my car on a dolly. They had a video of them before they towed my car to show that there was no damage cosmetic damage. Where was the video to show that my car was on a dolly they dragged my car through the streets and it’s my car is not the only car they damage many cars they’re corrupt and seedy
It’s weird that y’all are coming down so hard on her for small details that have nothing to do with the bread and butter of the case like her clothes, her slang, etc. She’s 17 years old lmfao. What 17 year old anticipates being in court for an illegal tow when she was just out with her friends?
The tow truck company absolutely was sitting there waiting to tow the car. No question whatsoever. They didn’t get a call from the property owner. Nope.
The tow truck driver says "anyone can be off on time". Exactly, the tow company was off on the time. The toll pass and receipt, however, are not off on the time.
Tow truck will sit and wait for someone to mess up, not all of them but some do so they can get that money, I don't know to much about tow truck drivers, just some of the shows I watch and heard them, I need this money
It's VERY LIKELY that they bought the stuff at Key Foods AFTER the car was towed. DUH. They don't have to know the car was towed to go into Key Foods and buy food. They were probably jerking around elsewhere, then went to KF and then went back to the car.
Hang on, the defendant said the son spit on the truck as he drove away which the plaintiff didn't deny... so the group of kids DID see the tow happening?
He said he doesn’t remember and when she asked again he said no. I guess if only you were there is how it would make sense because he look like he would’ve spit on that car.
@@nwil1585 He originally said "I don't recall" and he looks very guilty so I think he did which makes the plaintiff story a bit fishy now when she said they were all shocked and surprised
@rapheALtoid not true. It is common to use a goat as a red herring. In other words, send one person to buy food while everyone walks to the beach, then the person with a receipt fades out and takes their purchase to the beach. I am not sure this is what happened per say, just that it does happen often, still making the parking illegal. As for the tow, that part was technically not illegal. Given the slacking of the driver (same slacking that leads to complains about rules at work and stingy bosses), he probably got a call right after they parked and wrote down 12:30 as it is a nice round number and "he's not paid enough to care." So the tow was legal, but the call wasn't.
I was thinking the same thing but thought maybe the spit happened at the tow yard instead of at the lot? Unlikely, but the mom could've picked up the rest of the group and they all went out to the yard together to meet the sister/ daughter, and then the brother spat there. BUT, if the brother handed sister money and she went alone to the yard, with the rest of them staying back at the beach while just the mom went to meet her at the yard, then his only chance to spit at the truck would've been in the lot as it's getting towed, proving they did see the car getting towed and that they were lying about that part. HOWEVER, if he spit as it was driving away, it almost proves they were innocent of illegal parking, bc if the tow man claims they were at the beach a block away, how could they see their car getting towed and race over in time to spit on the truck? Basically, we know the spit probably happened, and if you can determine WHERE it happened, you could actually figure out who is telling the truth.
