that alabama guy just walking in a blizzard with a raincape, tracking shoes and nothing on the head and still was in good mood at the top. guy is a beast wtf

One, he is probably excited because the South doesn't get snow (winter is too warm). And two, a blizzard is a joke compared to how many tornadoes hit or come near Alabama. He's been preparing his whole life for this moment- The blizzard is scared of him.

One of the most scary moments of my life was getting lost atop a mountain in the middle of a snow storm. I took a few steps away from the cabin, and everything had become white, and nothing but white. Visibility barely a meter in front of me, wind howling, complete isolation, all the steps i had taken behind me, gone. The only reason i managed to make my way back was sheer dumb luck, tripping on a cable that had been laid on the ground from the cabin, on which a former fence had been strung on. I first went the wrong way, found a pole, then made my way back and found the cabin. By the time i was back in, i was already so cold my face had icicles. Snow storms are fraked events to be in. I've done some really bad things in my youth, disregarded common sense many times, broke a few bones, got in some bad ends, but that one time... i genuinely though i'd bought the ticket. :))

❤ have we all. I was just like Shiey when i was young. Checking out old buildings and factories. Most scary part when we went into a abandoned apartment building car garage. It was 4 levels. On the roof level there was a old swimming pool. We went into the change rooms and heard a girl screaming far in the distance. We freaked out and ran like little wussies. We didn’t have a flash light. Smart eh? We did bring BB guns and pellet guns.

Had something similar once while out snowboarding, visibility was still close to 5 meters but that doesnt help when the red flags at the edge of the ravine are spaced out every 15 meters. Slowest but scariest decent of a lifetime

To give you all some more context to the facility shown in this video: The antennas where part of the world wide "ACE-High". It was a communication network used by NATO countries such as Norway, Danmark, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Greece and Turkey from the 1950s to the 1990s. The antennas where scatters. It means that they send a signal to the troposphere, reflect it from there and get it to the actual destination. This technology was the safest way of communication because the signal didn't go in a straight way, nor it was receivable for spy sattelites. The antenna in this video is the Dosso dei Galli antenna in Italy. It was connected to a similar station in Feldberg in Germany. The coordiantes are 45° 52' 13,7'' N, 10° 22' 32,3'' O. Hopefull this comment doesn't get censored for leaking the exact position.

@@theoriginalbiscuit To clarify, I have seen every video Shiey has made. I'm 100% more comfortable watching him climb a sketchy structure than trekking. Although it seems like Shiey is a bit flagrant with care in the mountains, he is actually well experienced and is pretty prepared from a gear standpoint. Watching Matt and Checkmate in this video though and hearing, "I warned them to be prepared" didn't do it for me. Matt looked like he had walmart shoes on and could have gotten some serious frostbite.

Over at Patreon there's a large bunch of people supporting as well, just; I started paying here before having bothered with a Patreon account, and now it might as well keep ticking here, same difference. Strongly recommend supporting your favorite creators when you get yourself some reliable income. I don't interact much, but it's the worst thing seeing people being stuck accepting terrible forced ad-read deals in order to sustain their content. If it's great and original content, it's worth a monthly penny, _if_ you can afford it, of course!

Great video as always, I just really couldn't help but to also state your exploring partners really need to take your advice and stock up on supplies and clothes/gear. I'm sure they did just fine without it, but never too safe. The trek up the mountains would have been much easier on them if they had proper boots and layers from what I was seeing

13:33 Besides the once again very exciting video, this time especially the philisophical reflection on contentment, appreciation and self-relocation was very inspiring.

I love what you said about the weather at the end...all weather is beautiful and offers different experiences. What a great way to look at it! I agree with you...I live in the US where we get 4 seasons and I never tire of the variety, always something different right around the corner. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Beautiful snowy place

I've never claimed a snowy mountain but I have had my fair share of -40°c abandon snow adventures in Saskatchewan Canada! Always a thrill when you can die if you don't get to your location! Gotta love that shelter!

looks like the refugio, Croce Domini and the road, I rememeber once riding that unpaved road "in summertime" with the motorbike - really nice there - I knew there' s an old military station on one of the mountains there - anyway the whole road is up to 40km down to Anfo at lago d'Idro

I enjoy Shiey's Philosophy. I appreciate the "reinvent the wheel" view. That's why backcountry camping is amazing, living on the basics helps you appreciate the amenities back home. After a week out in the wild, I'm always thankful to return home because the first hot shower is always... Bliss. 🚿🧼🥰
