Snugtop Rebel Topper Review 

That sucks! I have an ARE topper on my 2015 Tundra and have had zero issues and its been on since 2016. Keep up the great work on your videos, I enjoy your channel.

Well, I just picked up my 2021 Ranger Tremor with 12K Miles. Guess what Im not putting on it 😕 I appreciate the Video, you saved me $3700 😮

Lessons learned. I just had a snugtop rebel installed on a Tacoma, the fit is horrible, for a canopy that costs over 3k, it shouldn't stick out an inch past the bed on both sides, doesn't really look like it was made for the truck. First and last snugtop I'll ever buy.

i feel your pain. I went through the same thing. Never again will i let those "truck accessories" shops touch my truck.

Yeah installation will be the biggest source of issues. As of early 2022, when I priced all 3 manufacturer's, SnugTop was only a little more because I had to add a bunch of options on the ARE or LEER to make it comparable to what came standard on the SnugTop. My biggest problem was trying to find the latest generation of truck top that fit on my 2012 Tundra. The SnugTop Rebel was one of the few, with most being older designs of very barebones models (no headliners, no lightning, etc) that have very limited upgrade options

My snug top is perfectly centered on the top of the bed. But is off an inch to the driver side at the top edge. So it doesn’t line up flush with the cab. It’s a horrible factory defect. My window and tailgate does exactly what yours does. It’s like they gave up on quality. These aren’t even costly for them to do right.

AD, I did. The AT4 was a Lemon. It had starting issues that couldn’t get fixed. I traded it for a 2022 Silverado HD LTZ. No issues with the new rig and just ordered the A.R.E. should be here in three weeks. I’ll post pictures.

sounds like it's not the Snug top. Sounds like its the company that installed it

Who installed it?

Viewers have to keep in mind that half of your issues seemed to stem from the shop that installed it. That experience will vary wildly based on location. The issues with the shell itself seem to be easily resolved with some adjustments. Thanks for the review!

Sorry to tell you adventure dad, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. My entire life I have never ONCE had someone do a job well for me. I learned at an early age to not trust ANYONE and learn to do everything my damn self. You will have these issues everywhere with anything.

Adventure Dad, sorry to hear you had such a bad wiring job and crappy installation. I too purchased a Snugtop Rebel for my 2021 GMC Siena AT4 last year and had some same issues. My rubber gaskets around the door came unglued, the drivers side window on the cap leaked, the door would not lock after only three month’s ,and the finish was garbage. not to mention, the LED light was loose the day I picked it up. I personally believe the build was rushed and there was no quality control put into the build. I just bought a 2022 Chevy Silverado LTZ 2500HD and getting an ARE. Sure, there all fiberglass products, but ARE has a three year warranty and their products are well built. Everyone I know who has ARE has nothing bad to say. Again, these are four people I personally know. Good luck and keep the adventure going.

Amazing you have a EZ Hauler trailer so do I. Also you have a Toyota with a Snug Top so do I lol. I guess great minds think alike. I`m sorry you have had such bad luck with your Snug top mine has been ok so far Ill be on the watch out for it...

Have a bran new Snugtop here in Washington. It is leaking mysteriously all the way around the bed rail a lot of water. It rains here a lot. Make sure you buy in the Winter or you will have no recourse when it starts leaking like crazy. Didn’t check my wiring. Thought they just used the tail light area for the power with designed clips to mate with the factory ones. Going to check that next. Both the top and dealer have been a complete nightmare. Going in Wednesday for a second “water test” and repair/seal. Doubtful this top will be even close to water tight. The locks and hardware seem really cheap. Same extra push to get both sides locked, and the Windoor lock was so loose I could twist with my fingers..dealer had to “fix” it. The small key they gave me for the “locks” looks like something you would use on a kids piggy bank. $3400 new Rebel Sportsman. Read similar complaints about other brands…think these are all hit and miss. Another treat was the six months it took for delivery…told me a outrageous three months, then six for the actual delivery…no apology ever about the lengthy time. I had to call 4 times for the “estimated” delivery time with no care, urgency, or apology, from the “dealer.”

It appears that all of the problems are installation related real hack job however the top itself appears to be of decent quality

What state are you in ? I'm assuming it wasn't installed at the manufacturer in Long Beach CA. That's REALLY unfortunate . . . I would send this video to Snug Top directly so they can be made aware of the poor quality of work during installation at their dealer. The locks / latches issues should be taken care of at the dealer, but I would understand your reluctance to go back for anything. A lot of those 'adjustments' SHOULD have been addressed prior to you taking delivery, especially for the premium price you paid, no excuses. . . . that electrical work is just plane horrendous.

Snugtop is garbage stay away from this truck cap.
