This week is all about the big jobs - DIY back door installation and DIY floor levelling.
While waiting to get cracking on the lounge/dining room is painful, getting these back doors installed has got to be one of the most exciting things we've done in the renovation so far. The light it now brings into the kitchen is absolutely INSANE - and we cannot wait to crack those bad boys open on a summers day for a BBQ!

Two weeks after we got a couple of cats, all the mice moved out, except the ones they bring in to play with. I hope you took that lead piping to the scrap merchant to get a few bob back. My kitchen is near 100% and works well except where there are loads of paint pots and bagged trays. Depending on where the sun shines into your kitchen it can get unbearably hot in the summer, which is why I left it where it was and with the extension it if now in the centre of the ground floor. Yes, I got a window put in (north facing) but we still need light. At least the butter won't be a total puddle in the summer. I used to stick newspaper on the old kitchen doors to cut down the light and heat. Please make sure you have blinds for the door just in case.

I did think about moving my family cat in for a while! Hahaha. So glad to hear about your kitchen - feel like I'm counting down the days for ours and now that we've got the back doors I'm more excited than ever!

Love your sharing! Been watching for a while, the content is getting better and better. Like the cooking session in the middle. It showed the reality but also looked delicious! Well done!

Impressed by your commitment to eating vegetables even in the face of kitchenlessness. I would have used that as an excuse for junk food.

We certainly went a bit takeout crazy in the beginning but were soon craving the green stuff again!

New doors look fab! You’re getting there - light at the end of the tunnel! When things look grim, I think about our own renovation being without a kitchen, mess and dirt everywhere. You guys are doing great! Thanks for inspiring the DIY in all of us.

I would 100 invest in a gas bbq with a lid which essentially creates an oven….. we had no oven for a year before we renovated and cooked on it almost every day …. Grilled veggies taste amazing on the bbq meat, fish, spatchcock chicken etc. Because it’s a gas bbq it heats up really quickly and you don’t have lots of cooking smells inside where you don’t have an extractor fan on. Plus you’ll use it anyway once you are fully renovated x

Great effort guys.. we have just finished the first stage of our renovation, and now watching your videos is bringing back memories. Anyway I was wondering where did the boiler go? How difficult was to move it? Our boiler is in the middle of our small kitchen so we are looking at moving it elsewhere. Thanks
@FeedbyAutumn
@FeedbyAutumn 2 года назад
Thank you! We moved the boiler to our first floor bathroom (as it’s very large) and placed it in a cupboard along with our washing machine. We needed to rewire the sockets to be outside the bathroom though - just read up all regs when moving a boiler to the bathroom. I’ve seen others move the boiler to the cupboard under the stairs and then have the vent go through the floor joists to the outside wall - that’s also an option. In terms of moving the boiler - it wasn’t too difficult as all our pipe work ran to the bathroom already which made us save time in not needing to bend a lot of new copper- it was extremely heavy though!

I have a mouse problem in my house. I've put out two humane traps but not caught any and it's been 2 weeks so impressed you caught so many, where did you get yours?

We've got a slow cooker stored at Tom's parents house! But hoping with this warm weather we won't need it any time soon 😉

Of course! They’re from Colins Sash Windows - painful 15 week lead time but luckily we had a lot to do in the meantime!

@@FeedbyAutumn thank you. Im sorry I know you'll do a downstairs video but how much were the lintels on your last video. It's something I need but haven't a clue how much something like lintels would cost. Very much appreciated.
