Is Kevin Costner's latest film a return to the form that made Dances With Wolves and Open Range...or is it The Postman debacle all over again? So, what did I think?
Absolutely blockbuster amazing. The scenery the photography and the music fitting in was amazing. The characters the good the bad and the brutal were obviously well chosen for that era. I sat rivetted at times with eyes closed but didn't miss too much. I loved this and didn't notice how long it lsdted. Looking foward to the next chapter.
I completely agree. I haven’t seen part 2 yet, obviously, and I doubt Costner is going to be able to produce parts 3 or 4 given the box office, but I think a lot of aspiring editors are going to have fun cutting this thing down to a single movie. I have no problem whatsoever with something that is deliberately paced. That’s not the problem here. The problem here is that it’s badly conceived and edited. The early raid scene goes on forever, without any dynamic shifts. It stays at the same level of intensity interminably, and in the process loses its impact. The movie is shot like a tv show, largely in coverage, with choppy handheld, unfocused cinematography. Scenes aren’t staged: they’re just shot. …Awful. A tragedy, given what such an endeavor could have meant to a flagging film business drowning in IP. Biggest disappointment of the year.
Amazing!! just saw it today. You can tell from the first few seconds its gonna be good. Keep in mind, he is setting up 3 movies and he has one movie to do it, so there will be a lot of character development. But as soon as Kevin fires his gun, you KNOW which way this movie is going to be. Don't miss it!!!!
I thought the various story lines were hard to follow. It's obvious they will eventually converge, though, and some serious sh!t will go down. This movie would be good one to see a second time.
The Postman is my favorite post-apocalyptic film. I love every movie Kevin Costner has directed. And sir, you are completely wrong about Horizon Chapter One. Good God, man, you’re from Ireland, you can be forgiven for not knowing about the settling of the American West. Horizon Chapter One is magnificent.
That's just typical American ignorance about the rest of the world. Ireland has a SUPERIOR education system, with many students delving even deeper into the history of the world. I'm guessing I know more about American History than you know about Irish History. Here's something I found, find me an Irish equivalent and I'll hold my hands up. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--PA34wSTf44.html
I'm sorry, but the education system here in Ireland is FAR superior than what passes for high school education in the United States, my God you Yanks still can't figure out that the Repubic of Ireland isn't part of the United Kingdom, or have any knowledge of the rest of the world, and it's a cheap shot just because someone isn't from the US.
I waited almost 5 minutes to then hear this reviewer trash the Horizon movie. Very upsetting... I'm not going to shred this reviewer, but I really want to. In 100% disagreement, Horizon is epic in every way! I can watch this film over and over again...I was that connected to this work of art. Not a TV mini series...forget all that garbage, this is Chapter 1 of something marvelous. Take it in and prepare for Chapter two. Let's see the reviewer make a better period-correct Saga; Chapter 1. Not gonna happen. Easy to talk smack when you're just jamming popcorn down your throat, but Costner did the hard work of filming this film on location(s) and was subject to the elements. This is a master work and everyone is entitled to their opinions. Watch this masterpiece at the theater and you be the judge. I for one couldn't be happier with this Chapter 1 result. Absolutely epic!!!
First, glad you didn't shred me because as I say the entire point of the channel it's So what did I think , it's my opinion and as I repeatedly say only my opinion, I won't shred you for enjoying it , in fact I am delighted you did but as far as I am concerned my opinion will not change on this , the big test will be if this will be remembered in the next few years? As I said I am disappointed because Open Range I consider to be one of the classic westerns.
funny that you're the second RU-vidr here with hardly any subscribers and no content on their channel, you Yanks really have nothing better to do than review bomb people.
how rude, why don't you review films on your own channel, wait, there's nothing on your channel, another anonymous troll, why don't you stay under your bridge.
You're wrong about everything. You don't get it. Stories are structured. In the first act we meet the characters, the main goal, the main conflict. In the second act the plot kicks in. There is a third act and, sometimes, a fourth act. HORIZON Part 1 is the first act. There's more coming. Your review is the most disappointing review I've seen. I advise all youtubers to avoid.
@richardweddle3408 and again I am glad you enjoyed it. However stories are structured . This one is not...it is bloated with no focus and from the performance at the box office we will not be getting a third or fourth act.
@@sowhatdidithink4205 The story is structured. And it's structured to fit in with the other parts in order. You just can't see it. You're not matters with this hostile review. You're not helping the western genre, either. This is the best western since OPEN RANGE. It might even be a great western. But it's obviously not for you.
who gives you the right to advise other youtubers to avoid content, you're just another of a number of moaners here who even don't have any content on their channel, if you're such an expert, why don't you do reviews, and experience some of the crap you are offering up.
