I don’t think Johnny’s dad was only proud of him because he’s talented. I think he finally saw his passion. He’d never seen him perform, and he realized that his son really did love singing and that he was willing to lose everything to pursue his dream. *That* made him proud. But he’s not a great communicator. 🤣

I honestly don’t understand everyone’s problem with this movie, it’s definitely not the best most thought provoking movie in the world or anything amazing, but I enjoy watching it and it’s not that bad.

It still to this *day* blows my mind that Scarlett Johansson sang a full original number for this movie. I never knew she could sing at all and yet Set It All Free is my favorite song in the movie.

It's really unclear what happened to Mike. He's not in the sequel, not even mentioned. I'm pretty sure he was eaten. I do recommend the sequel, though, in my opinion, it's much better than the first.

9:24 to basically sum up what Buster said to the Red Pandas in this scene was "You guys smell so bad, it smells like foot" Buster wanted to most likely say that their footwork improved but he definitely mistranslated- It took so many listens to that scene bc of how broken his Japanese was to finally get what he was saying.

the pig mom's character is my favorite, and her performance of shake it off in the end literally made me sit there with my mouth open the first time i saw it i guess i relate more to the "stay at home mom who does all the housework and takes care of the kids and is underappreciated by her husband" character. not because I AM one (im 19 lmao) but because i was kinda the "second parent" in the household and grew up helping my mom with everything because my dad is shitty watching her pop off was cathartic

Imagine singing Elton John so well, that you get to play him in a film. I mean, the fact Taron knew him already may have helped, but still!

This movie was the first time I heard I'm Still Standing, and I absolutely loved it. So much so, that I ended up requesting it at a karaoke evening. The guy looked at me with surprise, then announced to the room "Well we've got a youngster who asked for a golden oldie, this is a first for me"😂😂. I really liked this movie.😁

Welchy: Why is the smallest character in this movie the one that talks the most. My mind: Maybe he's compensating for something... There are many different translations because what he said was butchered but the jist of it is "Your footwork was bad, you guys stink. " Some translations also mention smelly toenails...

I honestly believe Sing has an anthropomorphic world unlike zootopia by not excluding the species to just mamals and having almost every known animal makes this world so much more unique.

I genuinely enjoy this movie. It's better than it should be for such a simple concept, and the cast really knock it out of the park w/ the talent. Solid covers. Fun characters. Thumbs up. 👍

While I don't harbor any strong like or dislike for this perfectly serviceable - if not slightly dull - film, I will admit that it is among the most replayed movies I watch. It's great background noise (and music!) while I do other activities like draw or write. It's an inoffensive way to kill time. I'll admit I DO like Sing 2 just a smidge more than the original though. I couldn't tell you why, Welchy. Even I don't understand it. But maybe if you watch it, you'll see what I mean. Or you might not. Who knows. Either way, this was another great reaction! I really hope you consider watching "The Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole" or "Wolfwalkers". Both great films in their own right that did not receive NEARLY enough attention as I felt they deserved.

I think Sing is one of those movies where its not bad but its pretty okay for what it is. An honestly I am a guy who loves bad movies so I can honestly give a not so high an mighty but honest opinion about a film or show because my standards are just so low to begin with-

And I have seen it several times since then with the same enthusiasm 😁 Maybe they were just disappointed it wasn’t more like zootopia or something

This movie isn't like...horrible, but for me it was just really forgetful and didn't live up to the hype around it. It was like the opposite of Zootopia lol.

I have to say that I thoroughly love this guy's view on these films. I saw him first react to Chicken Little, Meet The Robinsons and Megamind. Three movies I hold very dear to my heart. And I saw him break them down in the most real and perfect way possible. Love Welchy's reactions and his commentary so so much. Very nice content, man!! Keep it up!!

I was generally surprised that the mouse was played by Peter Griffin's voice actor. That guy has lungs!

the fact that Taron Egerton (the guy who voiced Johnny) first plays a singing gorilla performing Elton John then with Kingsman The Golden Circle proceeds to play alongside the actual Elton John and THEN gets to portray Elton John and sing some of his biggest bangers in his biopic musical film Rocketman for which he also records a brand new song together WITH Elton John for the movie’s soundtrack AND THEN even gets to go on tour with him to perform said song alongside him on the big stage!!! That reminds me, If you haven’t watched it already please react to Kingsman 💪🏻🎉

I saw a few people suggest it already and I'm here to second it - Wolfwalkers and Song of the Sea are top picks for European animations. They're done by the same Irish animation studio and focus heavily on Irish folklore. Breathtaking movies! On the other hand Sing is just some light-hearted singing related fun for viewers.

I honestly think this movie doesn't deserve the level of hate it gets. I always saw it as a fun, feel-good type of movie. It doesn't have to have a crazy story. It made people smile, and maybe made some people nod to the beat. I do love how all the major characters had their own problems outside of the theatre, and they were able to press on and do what they wanted to do despite all that. Personally, I think Johnny has the most enjoyable song. I can still hear that scene in my head, and it's very fitting to him since he was practically disowned by his father, but he's still standing. Definitely an enjoyable movie. Not the best by any means, but still a good watch every now and then. I wanna see the second one eventually.

I don't know why but I always love the scene of Rosita comforting Ash. EDIT I don't think Mike the Mouse is in the sequel at all.

The reason you hate Johnny: In our world he's Taron Egerton and he' still cool, a great singer, a successful actor and does all those things better than we do. Another tidbit: Scarlett Johansson voices and sings Ash the Moody Teenager. She's better than us too.

I know everyone's praising the sequel (which I don't get), but this one is definitely the better film to me. The screenwriting is actually really clever and has a lot more heart.

I love this movie, especially since it's the only animated movie my mom likes! we watch it every time it's on TV - I think it's a pretty simple, cute movie, great for a family afternoon :) + I think that them being animals makes it easier to relate to for everybody, it's more universal that way

Bro,I'm so happy that you're still doing videos, I came across your videos from a year ago, then got concerned on if you had stopped, so I'm so happy that you still are, I legit hit subscribe on the 2nd video I watched of you.

This movie could be great. All the contestants have great messages or lessons. The only suckish thing, that brings down the movie is Moon and his "message": I've got a dream and in pursuit of that dream I'm going to screw over people who work for me and trust me, while I mooch off my lazy rich friend and I'm going to continue to string people along with empty promises in the hopes that an insanely rich person will finally bail me out. But it's okay because it's all for my dream. Let's not forget that he failed to pay his performers and staff who have their own families to support and bill to pay, stole electricity from the neighboring building which is going to drive up their bills to light up both their business as well as a theater, and he continually borrows money from his rich friend until his parents say "NO" at which point he goes to beg his friend's even richer Nana. Bottom line this guy is scum and it makes me angry that it worked out for him in the end.

This movie is the worst movie to have an incredible moment. Johnny's song at the end is so freaking good.

Me and my family watched both Sing and Sing 2 and honestly for us it's just such a fun movie to watch, sure the plot and characters aren't life changing or anything like that, I can honestly say it's just a fun watch since I enjoyed the all the singing, the animation and visuals. Ngl I really liked the characters interacting all cutely and buddies with each other in the 2nd movie, I'm a sucker for those types of small details. I really suggest you watch the 2nd movie too, I've been binge watching your videos and your reactions are awesome :3 Also movie suggestion that I remember watching as a kid with my family, Space Chimps. Someone once said that my choir director looks like the koala from this movie, and now none of us can unsee it.

The problem I have with movies like this is that it serves no purpose to make all of the characters animals. You could have easily animated humans or made it live action...none of the animals really use their animal skills and it's not relevant to the plot like it was with Zootopia, so it's just a little weird to me. Why build a whole world only to not use it?

It's not the best movie but it's fun, and that's what matters. It's just a good time spender.

One of the weird things about this movie is that it comes SO CLOSE to being truly great, but it simply falls short of the mark. They have a great setup for an interwoven web of heartwarming personal stories about a wide range of interesting characters. But all those character stories are wrapped up in a tired old "let's put on a show and save the building" plot that's been done to death.

That's the thing about this movie. It's not the greatest thing to ever grace the screen, but it's not so bad that you'd never watch it again. There are a few moments where you laugh or think the visuals are alright, and as you said the people really did go all in for the performances. It's one of those weird inbetweens that kinda vaguely float in the recesses of your mind until someone reminds you of its existance.

I got way too emotionally invested in Mina when i watched this movie. I also have terrible stage fright and its paralyzing. My heart races so fast that no anount of breathing can keep up with how much oxygen it needs and then my legs go numb and my throat feels like its closing; like there's a hand squeezing down directly on my windpipe. I've been trying to fight through it for years, but I've only managed some drunken karaoke and playing guitar around the campfire with my family. I can only dream of doing what Mina did. Cartoons are wild. We get to live vicariously through a singing elephant thanks to cartoons.
