I had 2 in the space of 3 months- 1 on each side! Due to undiagnosed extremely high blood pressure. (Probably brought about through the stress of being made redundant after 18 years thanks to this bloody virus) so I can sympathise with you. Best of luck with your recovery ( mine is very slow but I'm trying to stay positive. 👍🙂
I had a Left lacunar thalamic stroke in 2013. The symptoms I had was a 10hr headache that didn’t respond to pain meds. My speech was a bit slurred. I developed a wrist drop and depth perception issues. I have 30% sensory loss on my right side… it still persists and I just learned to live with it. I’m lucky my Sister in law is a PT/OT. She helped me lose the ‘wrist drop’ and encouraged me to ‘touch type’; so I could go back to work without fully feeling the keys under my fingers. I used the Videoke, for my speech therapy & to speed up my reading.
Greetings! I’m an idiot too. Woke up in the middle of the night with my left arm (from shoulder to finger tips) numb. Thought I was having a heart attack. Called ambulance. They did EKG and it was fine. Symptoms were calming so DID NOT GO TO ER like an idiot. Waited til next day to see my primary care dr who said he thought I had a pinched nerve. I finally ended up in ER day after that. I never once thought it was a stroke. Hospital did MRI and confirmed stroke. I ended up with weird sensation in three fingers and around one side of my mouth. It’s permanent. I hope you are doing better.
Thank you for putting this out. You're not an idiot, you didn't want to make a big deal about it. I understand you have permanent damage (as do I) but it could have been much worse so count your blessings.
I had a thalamic stroke on Feb 24th and it was similar. I could smile and raise both arms. The entire left side of my body was numb and tingly and it took all of my energy to bend my knee but no problem smiling. Maybe we need to ammendment the way we teach identifying strokes!
Thank you for the comment. I would be interested to know how your recovery is going and what other effects you have. I hope you are doing well. Thank you for sharing!
Same here, I could speak, smile, lift my arms for the "FAST" test so I ruled out a stroke. 5 hours later I collapsed at the airport & they called an ambulance. The "FAST" stroke identification system (face, arms, speech, time) definitely needs an upgrade!!
The FAST test for stroke definitely needs to be updated!! My left leg was tingly & I was drowsy & disoriented but that was it. Thought I was ok & kept going on to the airport & collapsed. FAST (face, arms, speech, time) is not effective to diagnose stroke!
Good job, dude! I had a thalamic stroke (right side posterior) 11/16..so far so good, though the left side sensations if heat and/or clamminess are freaky.
Mine was a left sided thallamus stroke they diagnosed as hemiplaegic migraine. They scanned me to rule out stroke and there it was!! Treated too late and right sided damage permanent. My right eye is weak and keeps crying! Like you I ignored the symptoms and the initial A an E doc did too because I could raise my arms and smile!! Anywaysie wishing you well here. xxxx
I'm really sorry that happened to you. The leaking eyes may come and go, mine does that too sometimes. Just keep trying. They have such a small amount of information and it's based on past results from others who have gone through it. Don't give up. It's exhausting but keep trying and keep pushing yourself. You won't be disappointed.
@@agent6t8 Thank you for your reply. so kind of you. Yes, the leaky eye doe come and go a bit. The same as you I find the fatigue levels incredible some days. Just hard trying to live with a new reality and not over exhaust myself. Take care of you too Mike.
Hello! I am doing quite well, after only 13 months I have just a few lasting issues but I believe I'll be making a pretty good recovery. Anything specific you want to know about?
@@lleaha sorry I just now saw your msg. Yes it does bother me quite a bit but what's worse than sunlight is wearing sunglasses for some reason. Still working on it.
