After reading Ajin, I was so blown away in each chapter. After finishing it, I wanted more manga so I watched this video and I'm SO GLAD THAT YOU MENTIONED AJIN.
Ok some recommendations from the bottomless-trench that is my backlogs: - Drifters (From the author of Hellsing. It is set in this alternate fantasy world with typical fantasy stuff. Has the same comedy and tone as Hellsing but the characters have so much personality. The premise is about different historical figures being transported into another world to battle it out. Not much about the story is know as still is ongoing) -Blue Giant (A story about a regular japanese boy finding his passion in jazz, more specifically playing the sax. The story presents you with many problems musicians face in their early and the general hardships of adult life.) -Blue Period (The story is about a boy finding himself to be severely lacking in ambition and interests. One day, he sees the beauty of art and decides to take up oil painting in highschool. The story has some hard hitting moments pertaining to insecurity of being an artist and being accepted into society.) -RIKUDOU (The story is about a boy whose faced trauma early in his life with very terrible people so he takes up boxing to release his pent up emotions. This very dark and sheds light on the darker side of families, relationships, and boxing. Something similar to this would be Holy Land, which is a down right amazing manga.) -Masuraou (A boy gets sent to live by himself in this suburban town in Japan. The town has this tradition of a fighting battle royale to decide who would be the “man” of the town. It is very action packed and surprisingly funny. The art compliments the action and story held my attention right to the end.) -Ranger Reject (Made by the same author as quintessential quintuplets. It takes the typical Kamen rider and power ranger format and flips it on it’s head. The story follows a just a regular villian the Rangers, the heroes, fight. A crazy amount of events transpire as the mc tries to take down the Rangers by himself.) - Oshi No Ko (WARNING! BANGER ALERT!! I can’t say much without spoiling the entire story so I will say that you just read it. It is amazing.) - Send my Regards to Kenshiro (This whole manga is hilarious fever dream about a man who dedicated his life to learning acupuncture points and techniques from Fist of The North Star, another manga you should try. The hilarious thing is that acupuncture point technique don’t have any actual applications but mc is so into character that everyone around him just goes with it. Definitely one of the most funniest manga in recent times.) - Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyo (This is like a traditional shounen. Doesn’t try reinvent the formula but adds it’s own unique flare to it. The story is set in feudal Japan, where bugs have basically turned into Kaijus and Monsters. All the characters have heart and personality even the villains. If you miss traditional shounen then I recommend you give this a try.) I also have a lot of unread mangas in my backlog that I have heard a lot of good things about. Idk I might come back and update this list.
I loved Black Torch back when I read it, and the inner demon in it absolutely had room to become one of the greatest inner demons ever, right up there with White, Kurama and Sukuna. The author also had a lot of things being set up that had potential to pay off incredibly. Black Torch IMO is a series that had all the makings of greatness, but didn't get the time it needed to really get there. The mangaka's newer work, Heart Gear is extremely unique from what I've seen, and it's got the same level of potential that Black Torch had, though it's been on hiatus for almost a year now due to his health.
I recently read it because i kept seeing the crazy artwork all over Instagram, i felt it had a blend of bleach, and naruto Themes in it that i felt were used pretty good and done uniquely. I wish it could have gone a little longer but for what it was i enjoyed it a lot

It's technically both. Screenrant did a story on the history of the film's name changes and it essentially boils down to people being unsatisfied with a name so it got changed.
@@fancypants5782 Yeah It was marketed as Live Die, Repeat: Edge Of Tomorrow but was probably shortened due to it being way to long of a movie name, thus Live, Die repeat became a tagline for the movie, the movies official title is "Edge of Tomorrow".

the most interesting part reading ajin for me was old man sato. A complete anarchist who is capable of doing what he wants to do, not letting others do it for himself but him alone is enough. A very straightforward antagonist yet having a complex and brilliant mindset when it comes to his plans and decision making. 8/10. (and the art is absolutely clean asf)

I recommend reading Suicide Boy. It's a manhwa, weird combo of cute and dark, but it's not depressing like PunPun. I like how it's simple and casual, not trying to appear deep or dramatic. I think it handles the topic well in terms of following the MC's daily life struggles and his thoughts are especially relatable. I heard that there's no official translation yet but there's about 100 chapters out as of now. There are self-inflicting harms involved so disclaimer there.

Thank you for the recommendations, I just finished "Ajin" and it was amazing, Sato is such a great villain, like, who uses a recovery ability to teleport and break through stuff? Genius. I loved the paneling and facial expressions, I could almost hear Tosaki screaming when he was angry. The IBMs, even though as an idea are very similar to Stands from JoJo, only 3-4 times I felt like "oh yeah, it's like a Stand", most of the times I was thinking of them as companions to the user or different autonomous entities (in Nagai's case for example), in opposition to JoJo that I was feeling of them like tools (except Reverb Act 3). I have a question, since both, Nagai and Sato went through a "Flood" (that's how they called right, when under emotional pressure, an army of IBMs comes out), doesn't that mean they can't revive anymore, am I forgetting something? I highly recommend it, especially to anyone who likes guns (I'm more of a sword and katana fan)
I recommend gannibal there's only a few chapters out but that shit goes hard. It's about a cop who transfers to a small town with suspicious towns people and that's because they may or may not all be cannibals. The art is akin to something like golden kumey and the characters are really interesting so far.
Tsuyoshi Takaki’s art will forever be one of my favorite art styles. Also I know All You Need Is Kill was adapted into a Hollywood film Edge of tomorrow.

Rainbow was written by George Abe who unfortunately passed away two years ago. The Green Blood mangaka only did the art. We have no idea if the story will continue unfortunately

Honestly, i'd highly recommend checking out the anime for Ajin. From the standpoint of fan of the manga, the anime is really worthwhile.... unless you just can't sit through cgi anime, however it is definitely the best cgi series I've seen (tied with dorohedoro)
I agree man. The cgi in ajin is really good and enjoyable. It doesn't take you out of focus. But many people always feel the need to shit on cg so I doubt many will think it's good, because cgi means bad in anime.

A short manga that I would recommend is definitely girls last tour especially the ending it’s a wholesome series set in an apocalyptic setting due to the aftermath of a war the manga follows two young girls exploring the apocalyptic world
I would like to give two of my own recommendations which are not manga but still good reads nonetheless. Pigpen (Manhwa): From the author of Bastard and Sweet Home. I don't need to say more I guess. It's one of the best psychological stories I've read in my life. Feng Shen Ji (Manhua): It's one of the more popular Chinese comics out there. It's about a human child who lost everything rising against the gods and has one of my favorite protagonists. Both of them are finished stories and I highly recommend giving them a chance.
I would recommend Land of the Lustrous (you might have read some of it I don’t remember), Heart Gear (the same author of Black Torch I think, but it’s currently on hiatus), Oshi no Ko, and Sousoi no Frieren.
The manga series I will never stop recommending are *Innocent* and *Innocent Rouge* (sequel). *The plot* of Innocent and Innocent Rouge revolves around the life of Charles-Henri Sanson, who was the King's Executioner in France during the late 1700's and his little sister Marie-Joseph Sanson. Probably one the best art I've seen in manga in a while, almost as detailed as Vagabond. (Also there are a LOT of trigger warnings)
A highly agree with the last two (especially A silent voice since the anime didn't do it justice) but I can't in good conscious recommend Beastars anymore. Those last two arcs or at least that last arc ruin the series as a whole. I almost have to recommend a stopping point for Beastars now, it's sad

I personally recommend any work my Oasaka Naoki. The man's a flipping genius. Monster, Pluto, 20th century boys! If you like Tokyo Revengers (or hate it, like I do), I personally recommend Great Teacher Onizuka and Shonan Junai Gumi. Amazing character-driven stories with high stakes and lots of inappropriate fun.
I just started reading Rainbow a few days ago. It has that ugly aesthetic I wish more series would use, and I was heavily intrigued from the era and subject matter alone. After feeling more burnt out on anime and manga than I ever have, I hope this can pull me in.
As an Ajin fan, I am very happy that my favorite series was mentioned, not sure why it's so underrated though. It has all the potential to be considered one of the GOATs of manga.
All you need is to Kill Manga is basically like Groundhog Day like on a certain day the days keeps repeating like the only way to stop the loop is to fix it.

Watched the anime of Rainbow and my god. There's no other anime that brought me to tears. Rainbow is thus far the only one. Even though Koe no katachi was really damn close.
Tsuyoshi Takaki's artwork are so clean and beauriful especially his oneshot manga "freak" and sci fin"heart gear" sadly there's no update in the chapter and also to the author
One anime that does not have a manga I would really ask you to check out is Legend of The Galactic Heroes. I'm currently watching it and I'd say it's a masterpiece on the same level as series like Monster or Berserk. It's about the political struggle between the Galactic empire and the Free planets alliance. I really recommend you check it out
Tougen anki is like the basic of basic demon-anti demon society theme generic shonen with a lot of predictable plot and backstory. It currently have around 60+ chaps and maybe you want to check out. It's a fun read cause you kinda know the characteristics of the characters and their backstory even before it was reveal.
Day 2 of Recommending Masked to read Ao Ashi. Soccer Manga that reminds me kind of Haikyuu and Slam Dunk I would put it above Blue Lock for its more realistic approach and better characters through the challenges that they have to overcome. And it is over 257 chapters long and ongoing. I have not caught to the lastest but to where I am, it is really Freaking good. And one last thing, the series is giving vibes of Haikyuu and Tokyo Revengers combined. I hope you will give this series a try, especially with so many people giving you other recommendations of series to try. And I really love all of the work you have.
your comparisons are weird but i agree ao ashi is excellent, maybe the most realistic youth football development manga. in terms of realism similar to giant killing. tactically excellent as well
I highly recommend the masked man to read "Real" it is another highly underrated sports manga.For me it is even better than slam dunk in character development and story progression.
Black Torch is dope as heck. I always recommend it and I think it's really unnecessary to be so critical about it since it's that type of attitude that helps end series' before they flourish into their own full self. I haven't read any of the others on the list but the only one that sounds slightly interesting is Ajin.
Oh my gosh! I saw Rainbow, and my heart is just instantly crushed. This is the manga the made me cry almost every chapter. Such an excellent masterpiece of a manga, easily one of the best ever for me. I can't stress that enough.
You should give Ender Geister (Tsui no tamashi) a go, even though the whole demon hunting thing doesn’t seem very original, it still intrigue me right from the get go. I would recommend to anyone who is action thirst
Here are a few manga recommendations if you're looking for something that's a bit on the psychological side, but also not insanely deep: Imo Alice in Borderland and Onani Master Kurosawa are by far the best out of the three. Onani Master Kurosawa (Drama, School, Psychological). It's around 30 chapters long and an absolute ride from start to finish. It has a really weird premise at the beginning and the 2nd half story is the main character's development from dealing with the outcome of the initial events. Can't really say much else cause I don't want to spoil too much about it. Wakusei no Samidare(Seinen, Action, Drama, Comedy, Psychological). It's about 60 chapters long. This story is a bit of a fantasy parody manga. It's about a dude who is visited by a talking lizard and told that he is going to become one of the Beast Knights, a group of warriors all affiliated with a different animal who protect the "Princess" and will save the world from being destroyed by the great mage and his biscuit hammer. I also can't say a lot more about this due to spoilers, but this manga is amazing. It's very campy but also presents its themes in a very nice and clean way. All of the characters are great, and it brought me to tears at least twice. It also has some great fights. Alice in Borderland (Action, Horror, Shounen, Psychological). Also about 60 chapters long. This got a Netflix live-action adaptation last year, and it actually wasn't terrible. Alice in Borderland is about a high schooler who is pretty much shunned by his family for not being as smart or hardworking as them. He and his 2 friends see a flash of light akin to fireworks before waking up in what seems to be a future version of japan. They are forced to participate in many death games to keep earning days on their 'visas', which upon expiring leads to their deaths. I typically don't like death game manga and anime, but this one was an exception. It's a psychological thriller that I think executes the theme of 'what are people willing to do to survive' very well. I also love the way it's written; the manga is made up of the main story and a bunch of side stories. The side stories either have nothing to do with the main characters and involve other characters that are important to the main story or just further develop the characters by showing you a game that they went through previously and showing how they survived through it.
@@drfranky3463 Half & Half (Seo kouji) - a short 13 chapter romance, you won't regret reading it it's one of the best romance I've read for how short it is Eden: it's an endless world - an extremely dark seinen, it's seriously a masterpiece but was too fucked up to ever be animated and never gained the popularity it deserved, if you've never read berserk then it might be a bit too much but otherwise I would strongly recommend it Hope you give these a chance and enjoy 😄
idk if I recommended this already but MoonYou is a webtoon about a guy that gets traped on the moon after the earth is destryoed. It is a comedy that feels a lot like one punch man or one of One's works.

For me Ajin is basically Tokyo Ghoul with Mikado from Durarara!! as the protagonist. (I mean the psycho version of Mikado, not the naive innocent country boy)
I had just realized while watching the last section about Masasumi Kakizaki that I've read a 9 chapter series by him called Hideout that was an amazing read. I'd highly recommend it.
