In this webinar, Sol-Ark discusses "whole home backup" and what is needed to make this a reality in today's world. Sol-Ark has brought together a cost-effective and comprehensive solution to the problem combining a 15kW inverter and their new series of microinverters with a Smart Load 14 panel providing sophisticated control over fourteen (14) 100A circuits. The SA-15K inverter brings a solid amount of power (and 'surge power' to start appliances) to the home and the Smart Load 14 panel brings a new level of load management with auto-profile learning (by circuit) user programmability and intelligent real-time managing of the entire home's load on grid and/or off-grid. By possibly combining Sol-Ark's new M-1000 (2 channel) and M-2000 (4 channel) micro-inverters, home owners can take advantage of the SA-15K hybrid inverter's ability to both DC-couple and AC-couple and really drive the solar PV array's contribution levels to keep a system running in a prolonged grid-down scenario.

Thanks. **EDIT** Ok, I think I get it now. The Sol-Ark produces 15kw DC OR 12kw from the battery. Therefore, if it produces from the battery only, it CAN'T produce from the DC at the SAME TIME, but with the microinverters, it can produce from the battery AND the microinverters produce 15K from the solar array at the SAME TIME. Which means 12kw + 15kw = 27kw at any given time. Plus, the smart load 14 allows a greater overhead by shifting around onto the circuits that are being USED, and cutting circuits that are not in use. Which would roughly double or triple the AC potential energy available to any given load at any given time. So any given load could MAKE USE of that 27kw at any given time, even if only very briefly. This "effectively" creates more available power, because the power can be FOCUSED where it is needed. This should be more clear, as it is a pretty amazing setup.

I've been off grid for 30 yrs. And I run everything on 40 used 240 watt pannels and 2 5000 watt inverters diy and 2 48 volt forklift batteries. Only cost 10 grand.

Another question. I note that there is ac coupling and the combined Kwh during the day increased to about 34kwh. 15 kwh for dc panels and the remainder from ac coupling. Good. What would happen if instead of ac coupling by mivro inverters or ac generator i use a TEG from waste heat from solar pvt panels. It is a 25 kwh TEG can i use a second inverter to convert the 19 kwh at day or night to ac current and attach to ac coupling to sol ark 15k?

At 39 minutes in, does the Retail $ he shows include panels or is it just the ESS and battery? I wasn't positive if the 28x500W meant 28 500watt panels or if that had to do with the micros only. Thanks.

Last question about battety bank. This flows from the 34kwh ac generation flowing throught sol ark 15k to the load. Can i use a large battery bank of 100kwh? If the system has 34kwh then during the 6 hours then it can charge a 100 kwh battery bank. Can an ambri 1 mega watt liquid metal battery be used? in 10 days i can theoretically charge the 1 Mwh Ambri system.

One query suppose i have 2 grid meters and usually have 10kwk transformers. Transformers removed now. Can the Sol Ark 15 k can be used to power both meters?

How do you know that grid went out and you are in "island mode" now? Do you get an alert? How? (With the 4 ms transfer time it might be hard to tell!)

So, after 6 weeks of data collecting a research my wife and I decided to purchase tge Sol-ark 15kw through wibd and sun out of Northern Arizona. They claim the first week of June we should recueve unit. Looking forward to that day. This is our first time attempt fir off grid power. We will probably be contacting your tech support. A year ago we met your team at the Knoxville convention and was sold at that point but we wanted to make sure.

In the Sol-Ark videos they constantly mention that this is "Retail MSRP" pricing. It would seem that the difference between the wholesale prices paid by installers and the MSRP pricing is part of the compensation for the labor to install the product. Is NAW&S installing it for the $8,250 price on their website, or if you are installing it yourself or paying someone else did you get a discount? “Inquiring DIY minds want to know.” 😀

Does the 15k solve the issue of tripping when 1 leg hits 4500. Seems the system should be able to deliver the entire rated power without manually having to balance the loads between the two 4500W inverters.

Is there an accessory to auto balance some loads? Like an auto switch in the SL1000 but instead of switching the load off, it switches from L1 to L2 or visa versa.

@@optionstrader9637 inverter from battery is 12k- worst case at night. During the day it can be 12k from battery, and then another 10k or so from solar. This is assuming no grid assist at the same time.

If your system is off grid can the load management activate when solar is not available & you would be pulling from battery only? I would like to have some of my larger load pull directly from the sun only. Thanks, Dustin

From what i understand the smart load only operates when the grid goes down. If you have a propane generator you don't need the smart load panel.

Its a useful dump load when you've filled your batteries, your loads are all met, and you still have extra PV power available that could be put to use. Water heating is a form of thermal energy storage!

I believe solark would really benefit getting into the automation front, work at supporting access to tools like Home assistant. You can do load management far better with home assistant and cheap wifi smart relays when monitoring solark live data and calibrate triggers based on all kinds of data. Smart relays go for $3-4 now and if 3.5KW isn't enough to control per device, they can operate larger relays. With the big tech companies harmonizing on standardization like matter it's going to be a missed opportunity not to have a plug and play feeding data on to the local lan to give access to these smart control hubs. I already do this with a Canbus to usb interface and a mini PC with SOLARK 12k, but it could be a small interface solark sell to make it easy for all users.

100A on each channel is pretty big which is great, but I think it'd be nice if you had some 50A channels as well as 100A. Instead of fourteen 100A, how about ten 100A and eight 50A. That is, if you have to stay within 1,400 A total.

No reason to lower it to 50 amps if the circuits can handle 100 amps. Lowering to 50 amps on some, does not provide more overhead for the cost or size of the box to enable additional circuits. It would simply have to add more 100amp circuits and it would cost more. They probably wanted to go for a sweet spot and obviously, you could stack a second box if you wanted 28 circuits.

I understand having micro inverters on some panels can add to the 15kW output by connecting them downstream.

Because the 15k inverter can pull from the DC OR it can pull 12k from the battery. It cannot pull from both the DC AND the battery at the same time. He doesn't make this clear I guess because he doesn't want to sound like his product is limited, but it sure would be nice if he made that point more clear. It can pull 12k from the battery AND the microinverters feed the entire panel array (assuming 15k) into the circuit at the SAME TIME. 12k + 15k = 27k. The Smart Load then allows this entire 27k to be focused on ANY given circuit at any given TIME. "Effectively" increasing load potential.

I can run my house entirely off grid. You just have to watch what you do. I run heavy loads, dryers, AC, cooking, etc, during the day when the sun is shinning. At night I turn off/TV's stuff that consumes power that isn't being used, computers, TV's light, etc. I replaced all the halogen/incandescent bulbs in the house with much lower power LED equivalents. With all these things in place being careful about what I do I can run the house from the available battery power for 2 days without sun. Being able to do that was not exactly cheap but I have done it.

@@jimmyg6215 Imagine a house like most people have with a 240 septic pumps, well pumps, dryer, electric water heater, and electric stove. You will never be able to run these all at once on a solar system, it requires deference and knowing what you are running at any one time. Now imagine waking up at 2am and running them all. A normal house things just run whenever the hell they want because the huge loads are no problem to the grid.

Dennis: What all these responders said. Basically, all Tom was saying is that, with all the loads people need nowadays - and are trending into the future - (people want/have more & more "stuff" that needs energy; and more and more of it is converting from other combustible sources to electric; and people want to be able to use them all at once - should they have that situation), one would need a massive solar panel setup to handle the power generation. And maybe another inverter or three to handle all that generation. So, huge investment required. But if you're smart about it (smart load management, soft-start modules, etc.), and are willing to compromise a bit on simultaneous usage, you can get a high percentage of the capabilities of your ultimate desired setup at a (more) reasonable investment. That's all.
