I have a knockoff version of the Earthway spreader. I have experienced every frustration you covered with those types of spreaders. I just ordered a Solo and was trying to get some feedback on them. Thanks for the honest review👍

This is what I love to hear!! Thank you for this feedback. You will love the Solo. I truly mean it when I say it is a game changer. I always try to minimize any stress on the farm. This change with the spreader was huge for me.

@@StewartFarmApiary Thanks for the video. I went ahead and lubed the crank handle and gearbox with wd40 hd lithium lube just to make it a touch easier to crank and maybe extend life. Says lube it every 4 hours of use I believe. Take care

I bought an Earthway because thats what all the big "food plotters" use in their videos. The first thing I noticed is everything you mentioned. Its a huge pain. Then I discovered the Solo spreader. I havent bought it yet but I plan on it.

Need to replace my Earthway 2750 spreader that I have used for about 15 years and came across your video of this Solo spreader. It appears to be a very good spreader that I might have to consider!

@@StewartFarmApiary What kind of settings are there on the Solo spreader? Are there numbers to allow you set it for different things like humate, fertilizer, and grass seed, similar to what the Earthway Spreader has?

@@kentheaps2115 Yes - there are numbers and settings also just as the Earthway. They are very similar in the number/settings for both spreaders so if you know what number you liked on the earthway, you can just set same adjustment number on Solo. That is what I did.. Thanks for asking

I just bought an earthway seeder. I filled with 8 pounds of clover. Started spreading the seed and the red nylon bag top fell apart from the plastic bottom. All of my clover seed fell on the ground. From what I can see is they have a big zip tie that holds it together. That is cut off so there’s no way to tighten the bag to the bottom. It’ll fall apart again. I’m sure. Has anybody else had this problem?

What about a review on the spreading pattern. Earthway spreads to the left therefore leaving bare spots in my foodplots.

Earthway does have a reputation of spreading to one side - I have not had any issues with an uneven spread. I tried to do a demonstration when I did this video, but every angle we took just didn't pick up the seed well enough to show it clearly enough. You shouldn't have a problem like you are with earthway - I walked 5 acres this past weekend with the spreader and then inspected the seed on the ground. I was happy with it. Hope this helps

One more thing- if you can buy or rent a spike aerator like the one I have in an earlier video, you will have great success on the food plots. I take it down narrow roads that the deer travel and then seed behind. the seeds fall down in the holes and the germination rate is amazing

My earthway was a sack of crap that lasted 3 seasons from seeding 3 acres each season

Yes indeed - that is why I wanted to put this video out there - When guys like me are coming from a city with limited experience, we need to get the products we buy to be good.
