Well not really he sinned against god three times. Solomon sinned three times with the exact sins God told him not to commit so Ironically God also in his omniscience warned Solomon about his future deeds ironic for this version since he does possess the ultimate clairvoyance, but when time came it fell on deaf ears, so when Solomon asked forgiveness from god he was forgiven however the punishment had to be dealt, and it was; oh boy was the punishment more severe for him than the ones who didn't promise anything to God. But I'll give it to you he did come around and became devoted to God before he died so in the end it did work out well for him. A bit better than his father David but both of them were chads with it had nothing to do with Women...and no I'm not saying women are bad I'm saying they basically failed to keep their desires for "women" in check although like I said Solomon sinned three times and the rest had relatively nothing ti do with women.

A composite being made from 72 imaginary demons made from human desires to understand and help humans with all theire life goals and to defend them from all that could threaten them. He was driven mad from grief that we can't imagine. It hurts humans very much when a loved one dies and many doctors put distance between themselves and their patients because they can't handle caring about so many people in their care dying. How could it feel to have billions of loved ones who you knew intimately through their emotions die over and over again for thousands of years? Goetias pity for us and his hatred of us was the only way he could cope with his grief. He still loved us, he didn't want to abandon us or simply destroy us no he had to change and remake us into beings that he could stand loving and protecting. That final battle as he is dying and all the pillars have left. The whole remaining after all parts are gone proved that there was more to him than his constituent demons. And in the end he finally understood something presious about the human experience that only having limited time makes it so valueable and even if nobody will remember it or care it could still have value to him. Thats also why I love the Salem arc. Raum on of the saner demon pillars who cared about human settlements and not humans as individuals since he was a domon of cities and villages was spared the majority of Goetias grief. Many of Raums dear settlements like Rome and Jerusalem where still standing even if the humans in them had be replaced many trimes over. What did Raum do even till his dying breath? He didn't seek vengeance or anything of the sort no he sought to find a replacment protector of mankind. He might have been twisted in his acceptance of torture and suffering but he genuinly loved Abigail and wanted to empower her to be the replacement for Goetia. So that there would be someone powerfull enough to protect humanity in his stead.
@Simon Wåhlen Personally as flawed as I know Goetia’s goal is, I kinda agree with him. I don’t want to ever die, and while I’m aware that living forever could possibly drive a human mad. I’m willing to bet that if one could accumulate enough knowledge and resources they could possibly travel on a voyage across the stars. Such a journey would no doubt have some sort of meaning and it would be impossible to ever become “Bored” or “Mad” given the enormous expanse of the Universe. As long as new and exciting things are introduced to you in your daily life your immortality should never become a burden to you. Plus as long as you catalog everything you’ve done then you also have nothing to fear of forgetting yourself or losing your memories of things you find important. That’s my 2 cents on the whole thing anyway.

Well, immortality is a gosh darn long time too! And it is 100% certain that a human can accomplish infinite things given infinite time. It is only a matter of eventuality that every human would accomplish the exact same infinite things. What would happen then? You would lose your individuality, because everyone had done the exact same things, had made the exact same bonds (because they have infinite time to experience every single interaction possible with each individual in the universe). Would you say that is preferable to this limited life where your choice *actually* matters precisely because you are constrained by time and resources? It's a story made exclusively by you, by your choices, and no one else, because you can't (and won't) choose to do it any other way. That is the essence of human mortal life. There is value in simply existing, in suffering, in grief, jealousy, and conflict. Because that is what made you you. It is something omnipotence, omniscience, and eternal bliss cannot accomplish.

His calm tone is probably him reflecting upon his life as King of Magic, a Servant, the Romani of Chaldea, and lastly his choice to face Goetia. So Ars Nova is a cheat code. Not only does it seal away all the magecraft (or true magic?) of Goetia (and possibly Proto Merlin too), but it also removes Solomon from the throne of heroes. Meaning to say he can now enter the circle of life and death and can be reincarnated as a human again. Emiya: Give me that cheat code.

Honestly, this makes me cry. Someone who was loved so much from heavenly father that was given so much power, yet at the end, he chose to give back the blessings as they were too much. It's touching as we are growing up in a society that feeds infinite greed and desire to have. Youth seek only materialistic goods and worship the rich elites. Sad
Even sadder is that in the end, Goetia isn't completely evil. He wants to free humans from the concept of death and the ultimate sadness and despair when lives end. Contrary to Romani, he embraces his omnipotence while failing to see humans as individuals. To become a Beast, one must hate but also love humanity from the bottom of their heart.

For example, something like how Tiamat loved humanity but become a beast so she can transform all of humanity back to her children so they don't leave her. I don't see him giving it back as a sad thing. I think Terry Pratchett had the perfect quote for it. That the gifts weren't his reward. Returning such power was his reward. For he realized that man's work should be done by man. The reward was giving overwhelming power back, and allowing man to build a world by their own hands.

@@Horne_Baka not exactly. Counter guardians have been permenantly removed from the cycle of rebirth and essentially used as mercenaries for the Counter Force. Their job is permanent and never ending. A heroic spirit is drawn to the Grail by the throne of heroes because they have unfulfilled desires left in life, and they make a "temporary" contract with the Throne to be summoned. However, as we know it's very unlikely that this desire is ever fulfilled, hence for all means and purposes, most heroes are permenantly stuck in a loop of being summoned and fighting grail wars. The fundamental difference being that even if it is a narrow chance, heroic spirits CAN still rejoin the cycle of rebirth should their desires be fulfilled, while counter guardians cannot ever rejoin the cycle of rebirth since they've already been removed from it when they drew up the contract with the Counter Force.

Ars Nova, which completely delete magecraft from human history, is the failsafe for the time in the far future where Magecraft becomes an Evil of Humanity, in other words, a Beast. Ars Nova created by Solomon the human (not the Heroic Spirit) was made to render all of Merlin's power useless and gives the World an advantage to take him down.
It also negates all of the efforts of the more drastic true magics, Merlin is small compared to Mages from the 20th century gaining access to Heaven's Feel and other True Magics

@@yammoto148 Not Jewish but I am Christian. I think this is fairly a good fictional depiction. But again the real Solomon did commit sins, I don't think he was that perfect here. But it has one thing done though, that having wisdom is too much for humans. We aren't made to be omnipotent, we are bound to sin that's very obvious. The Lord did forgive Solomon and Solomon repented, I guess in a way that represents Ars Nova, because in the end, Solomon did give back and return to God. Solomon is a wise person, but he took that for granted. In the real Bible story though, Solomon sinned against God, this portrays him as human, while in the FGO franchise he is portrayed as a father of magecraft, which is a glorious role, but then again we see that in the end, Solomon went into the state of "not doing anything anymore." I have liked the concept of Ars Nova for multiple reasons but the fact is, Ars Nova can be a representation of Solomon's repentance and his spiritual awakening once more. That in the end, after he has experienced everything, Solomon called everything in vanity, because without God, then truly it is vanity. Solomon realized that, and gave back his heart to the one and true Lord.
@@quaso7558 Well not necessarily the father of magecraft, because there was magecraft before Solomon, he just invented the modern system that worked without relying on mysteries of the old world where gods and monsters walked the earth. He also had two very accomplished apprentices, one of which found the clocktower mage society while the other actually achieves true magic. Solomon in Fate is sort of a solemn figure in that he wanted humanity to be fine without divine wisdom since his time represented the end of the age of gods as divine spirits can no longer live on earth without vessels. And his life represented both the good and the bad of divine mysteries. Him giving his rings back is less making peace with god and more making peace with the fact that humanity will be fine without Gods, and passing on the wisdom he essentially no longer has a reason to be reincarnated as a heroic spirit and can truly pass on into the afterlife whatever form that may take. But yes this scene is sort of the same symbolism, of he who gives up the world
Solomon in the Islamic Quran was a prophet that created a kingdom with an army of djinn. At the end of his life he prayed to God to sever connections between man and djinn so that the two will never again be able to interact with one another. Ars Nova is the representation of Solomon returning his blessings back to God. In short , it's a self-burial or purification rite , as such , he is considered as "completed all his works on Earth". Because he "finished everything" he could do , he is now removed completely from the World , including the Throne of Heroes.
Reading the comments made me understand how strong ars nova actually is, when i watched it at first i thought it was just to bind goetia for a moment and a really useless ability because it looks like deal zero damage to him 🗿

The NP allowed Ritsuka (the masters) and servants to deal actual damage to Goetia, right? Like it just took away the majority, if not, all of Goetia’s magecraft left by Solomon besides his existing ability of being able to control the Pillars and basic attack moves
Basically yes given that Goetia, who's a product of Solomon's magecraft, is also slowly weakening and dying. That's why even a weaker Servant like Koutarou was able to damage him with just kunai's compared to when he just shrugged off Mordred and Bedi's NP earlier
Can't tell you all the op Noble Phantasms because, well that's all of them. But Solomon's Noble Phantasms are: Ars Almadel Salomonis: The Time of Birth has Come, He is the One who Masters All Which is the bands of light. I'm, not too sure what it really is, since it lacks any clear association with Solomon to my understanding, and only Goetia uses it. In practice, it seems to be the ability to turn humans into raw magical energy. Ars Paulina: The Time of Crowning has Come, He is the One who Begins All The Timeless Temple itself. In a way it's the ultimate version of Territory Creation, the creation of an entire Reality Marble, unmoored from space and time and a macrocosm of his own Magic Circuits, as his workshop. And finally, of course Ars Nova: The Time of Parting has Come, He is the One who Lets Go of the World Which is the act of Solomon giving up his powers. It is him deciding that his works on Earth are done, and that all of Gods' gifts to him shall be returned. It's in effect, nullifying the legend of Solomon, saying that nothing he did is needed anymore. Which of course, wipes him from the Throne, but also meant that Goetia, who was himself one of those works, and also relying on Ars Paulina and Ars Almadel Salomonis for his power and plan, was himself no longer needed and had met his conceptual end.

With it being one of the few abilities able to completely destroy Humanity in total whereas a true Anti-Planet/World Attack doesn't get close as they all get Nerfed by the planet out of a self survivial instinct.

Goetia is a beast made from the corpse of Solomon and therefore is immortal whilst Solomon's Second Noble Phantasm is activated Ars Paulina (Which is the Temple of Time, a Reality Marble outside of Time and Space in the imaginary numbers space). It is powered by Solomon's Magic Circuits, and creates a contridiction granting Goetia and the 72 Pillars conceptual rebirth (practical immortality). Ars Nova is effectively Solomon Completing all of his post humous tasks one of which being Goetia not being needed. (Which was a spell to animate his corpse and then have it keep watch on Mankind. Solomon was meant to fill a role similar to Gilgamesh as the watcher of humanity) and because he no longer is needed he therefore is removed from the Throne of Heroes. This causes anything conceptually powered of Solomon to lose its "worth" making the combined 72 Pillars to become rogue Demons again and Goetia loses the abilities that Solomon Possessed including Ars Amadael Solomonis, Ars Paulina and he never had Ars Nova to begin with because he isn't Solomon truely.

Gotta admit, disappointed by the rings just flying at and stabbing him as the actual effect of the Noble Phantasm. I get that it's not really an attack per say, but after the animation used in FGO, was expecting something a bit more dramatic than a few lines flying at him.
Remember the days when noble phantasms were supposed to a crystallization of one's legend? Well king Solomon's legend doesn't have anything that resembles vaporizing one's existence... And Goetia isn't supposed to have a legend
Ars Nova doesn’t erase Solomon, at least not directly, it’s the legend of him “returning the rings of god to heaven” which as the last act of King Solomon, is basically the same thing as saying “that’s it, I’m done, I’ve finished everything I was meant to do”…which results in Solomon no longer having any reason to exist as a heroic spirit, he’s completed all of his tasks and works. It’s not that Ars Nova is a “delete Solomon” button, there’s just nothing left to bind him to the world anymore now that “everything” is complete.
Goetia indeed isn't supposed to have a legend. After all, it's just a grimoire: Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis. However, the existence of that itself is a mystery. No one even knows if the "Solomon" in that grimoire is indeed Solomon in the bible himself. After all, it's just weird that Solomon who was gifted wisdom by God, was able to summon 72 demons

They had so many good potential Noble Phantasms they could have used from Solomon's legend, and instead they made up random cosmic shit about rings so he could shoot lasers.
Gilgamesh's GoB is mainly filled with HUMAN crafted weapons. The few divine constructs He has can be counted by one hand. He doesn't have anything that come from Divine origin/crafting. Ars Nova is an NP that conceptualizes the act of Solomon returning his rings to God. Those rings were crafted by the abrahamic God and given only to Solomon. There isn't any copy from beginning cuz the those were the real rings, not NPs materialized by any summoning or grail. Gilgamesh doesn't have it.
I wont say worst, cause by Fate concept: No NP is bad regardless their uses Cus a NP is not just use for defeating or defending, it also have uses as counter-measure (for the servant themselves or their master etc) which in this case Arcs Nova is that kind of NP And by arguement, Stella would also be worst NP as well cause it literally made Arash suicide just to pull off a massive destructive attack Which if its not FGO gameplay, and actual combat situation/Grail War, def something you dont and never want your Servant to have as NP usually

If you want to access the Greater Grail you need all 7 servants dead so having Arash use Stella to take out the final Servant or Servants is killing two birds with one stone, the command seal you save could also be used to power up that final attack ensuring the double ko

A lot of Noble Phantasms are unimpressive not gonna lie its because Noble Phantasms are just Replicated Legends surrounding the Hero in question like if you think about made into physical form think of characters such as Zhuge Liang's (Waver) Unreturning Formation or Siegfried's Armour of Fafnir Noble Phantasms they aren't flashy attacks like Excalibur or Ea but they still have a purpose and some of them being amazing like Avalon: All is an Ever Distant Utopia which grants Anti-Purge Defense and granting constant physical regeneration even for mortal wounds.
