I love the Citizen Kane "retirement party" which totally ignored the man who was retiring, in favor of dancing girls singing the praises of Mr.Burns. It's one of my favorite Mr.Burns segments.

Has it been acknowledged that Burns isn't in any recent episodes like nearly two seasons now? I know the Apu story and why he's being ignored now but Burns and Smithers and just the nuclear plant setting seem to have gone from the series lately just like the Kwikee Mart. I assume it's because the Smithers character portrayal is now similarly considered a negative stereotype in the 2020s but did the creators ever officially say so.
@@user-ln2go4xp6d I've only been binge watching on a catch up basis these past three or more seasons and I struggle to even recall the last plot Burns or Smithers were included with a speaking part or even referenced.
I was surprised that Mr Burns even volunteered to give a talk at the Junior Achiever’s Club. I reckon it was some form of community service he was court ordered to do.

So when Mr Burns is looking through the dictionary in his head I paused and read it all.. nothing much that stands out but when it gets to "Running Dog : One who does someone else's bidding : Lackey, ie (SMITHERS)" I almost died. I knew the writers couldn't resist putting something funny in there!
