He has some great songs. Benjamin Tod in his Lost Dog Street Band singing “The Weight of a Trigger”

"I went down to Georgia", " Ballad of a broken man" or "September doves" are a few other well known songs.

Completely agree. IMHO, he is the best song writer going with Isbell and Arlo coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

One of the few people worthy of being called a disciple of the great Van Zandt.

Those are some pretty big boots to fill but I agree with you. He has tons of potential and his authenticity really shines through his songs. I will add that one to the list and congrats on the road to recovery Dylan.

Finally. Been making my way thru the comments for a while now n was starting to think this was the most wholesome audience ever... usually there’s a couple dozen comments about resonate struggles by now. lol! Congrats on recovery. Make the most of the life you’ve gotten back. First time hearing this song, by the time I got thru the first verse and chorus, I realized a couple things... First, that this terribly depressing and dark as hell song I was listening to was written by someone who had somehow managed to include thoughts that I thought had been silent in my head all the times I’d thought them... and 2...that my eyes had sprung a leak somethin fierce. And they weren’t stopping any damn time soon. Not by any stretch. Only a man who’s been thru it in a bad way could write those lyrics. That comes from a place of experience and from real serious talent.

That makes so much sense and yeah, so many of us end up going down those routes. I'm the son of a Baptist preacher ha!

In a way a songwriter is a preacher of truth

Easily a top ten lyricist of this generation.

Fellow recovering alcoholic here. Chemicals aside, Addiction is addiction. I felt these lyrics deeply also. Hope you're doing alright whenever you may see this.

Yeah man. I feel like with these super heavy songs it's so hard to really catch much on the first listen. I need to spin it at least a few times to let it sink in. Hope your weekend has gone well brother!

September doves is one of my absolute favorites actually everything Benjamin Todd and Lost Dog does is my favorite. Easily one of my favorite bands of all time!

Just recorded it and this line ruled me man: "And if the Lord wants to take me, I'm here for the taking 'Cause Hell's probably better than tryin' to get by"

I am looking forward to seeing it. If you decide to do the Dead South do “We Are The Dead South”. It is catchy but not as much of an ear worm as “In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company”. Banjo Odyssey is a catchy tune with, uhm ... horrible? Lyrics. It is definitely a guilty pleasure sort of song.
