Very professional and interesting video Mike what a beast of a loco ! My BR black version left Rails yesterday although I thought it had gone on the 3rd Feb according to an email I received on that date. Off topic a mate says Kernows minimum postage to Australia is now 28.00 GBP I can see a time coming when we will not be able to order from the UK it will be unviable, all the best Stewart

Hi Stewart, you say the kindest things :) Yes she's lovely, will need a good running in and light lube on the axles and coupling rod cranks. Blimey that's steep for postage, and to think I moan about £4 lol

Another informative video Mike - and I like your reviews in particular. Thankfully you run your new acquisitions on track mounted on a baseboard - not a carpet😱 This is a splendid loco - I’m waiting for mine from Rails in the “British Railways” logo. I’ve also seen your follow up video - which is really good as well. And blast that Covid 😔 - take care.

Sonic Models have made N gauge locos for ages but I've never known them to do OO It looks pretty nice to me and is not too expensive compared to others.

As with the Kerr-Stuart, 'Victory', not a big enough motor. Quite a good looking loco and an unusual item to have on your layout. The motor heating up is not a good sign. The inconsistent pulling is a symptom of an impending failure! I hope you don't up having to send it back! Thanks for an entertaining video.

Hi Allen, many thanks for the kind comments. I'm currently not worried about the motor. Its current draw even with the five coaches is now just below 100mA which is OK. I'm planning a post run-in service video to make sure there is sufficient lubricant etc. Might get to it later

A very handsome locomotive, and she looks splendid at the head of a fast train from Marylebone.

Hi, I don't think its a worry, only working warm and the more I ran her the cooler it got. Might check out the gear lube etc

It's really an unusual locomotive a 4-6-2 tank engine with inside cylinders. I'll absolutely get one (for a good price). Great video Cheers Jasper & Willow

Nice looking model Mike, I do think they look good and are pretty good runners. I have given my GCR a drop of oil after running in and my motor was warm as well but so far seems okay otherwise. I’ve not opened the gear box yet but they do have metal bearings on the drive axles, I’m pleased with mine so far. Cheers Rob.

Lovely loco and an informative and entertaining video. Sam did confirm turned bearings & a flywheel! It is also interesting to see the differences between his GCR-livered version and yours. Apart from the livery, the cab has additional windows and whistle placement is different. Also, your version has it's lamps fitted, whilst his were in the accessories pack. I've also seen then compared side by side by Jennifer Kirk, and both are very striking. Overall Sonic seem to have done a good job. Please keep us posted on whether those tight spots & warm boiler issued improve. Thanks again, Stephen

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited Yes, Sam seems to have been very successful in "building his brand"! I realised this when I saw how much one if his Salvage or Scrap locos sold for on eBay: at least 10 times as much as identical non-Sam models were on sale for!! Well, good luck to him and good luck to you. You both have very watchable, entertaining & informative channels, IMO.

Most kind, difference for me is that its Sam's job while for me it's 100% hobby. Lot of respect for Sam a throughly nice chap and trusted reviews.

Hi Mike, seen the numerous reviews this seems to become a very popular model. And rightfully ! It is a stunner with a quite exceptional wheel arrangement for a tank engine. I'm very tempted in buying but with import taxes and additional import cost to the EU paying more than 200£ is not justified. Maybe I'll have to smuggle it in ... Success with this beauty and thanks for sharing. Cheers, Filip

Question, where do you look to get the sonic motors product?
@ModelRailwaysUnlimited
@ModelRailwaysUnlimited Год назад
A replacement motor you mean? You could contact sonic, however the motor looks very like the one in the Hornby 700 class

Hi Edward, that was only around for a year in real life, I guess you never know. Thanks for watching
@RockyRailroadProductions_B0SS
Always been fascinated by this one ever since I stumbled across a photo of it in a book some years ago. Something about the inside cylinders makes the odd wheel arrangement a lot more prominent, and it has some great lines overall. I'd hate to have to crawl in between the tank corners and the little cutout to oil up, though! The red pinstriping around the wheels and motion is really good and fine on this model, it seems like especially the wheels would be easy to get off-center, really incredible paint! I don't know why, but I have a strangely strong desire to slightly modify/repaint a black version of this loco to represent a "close enough" LNWR Prince of Wales tank. Naughty of me, probably, I think it's the shape of the smokebox door that does it for me.

Hi and thanks for watching. Yes they have done a great job with it. Glad I went for this version. Good luck with the conversion
