Please, don't. I was there when they made more story based campaigns. I was there for the Beastmen DLC I was there for the Wood Elves DLC There was nothing there but ruin, disapointment and dead wallets. You probably don't remember the pain and fury. But I do, for I was there and stand still in the roaring storm waiting for better days, and better days indeed have come.

@@user-lq3kt5yu1r but thats exactly what I'm asking for, give us dlc, let the lords be playable with all their quirks in the base game/mortal empires campaign and then give us a story based campaign that we can enjoy, free of normal campaign experience and you can even tie it up, so the story campaign leads to main campaign, just as prologue.

@@zacharyjackson1829 This is just a tutorial story. It isn't the main campaign or anything. The main campaigns have much less story as TW games tend to. So I would hope Warcraft 3's extensive campaigns in RoC/TFT do a better job than the brief tutorial campaign story of this game.

It is mostly warcrfat 3 story. Katarina as Jianna, Juri is Artas. Short book on total war access proves it (future demon prince is the first lover of tzarina). Good story, but nothing new.

Have you ever heard the tragedy of Yuri the Godslayer? I thought not its not a story the Ice Court would tell you Its a daemon legend. Yuri the Godslayer was a lord of Kislev He was so powerful he could conquest the fortresses of chaos and even replenish his troops in the middle of hell The forces of chaos are gateway to some abilities people consider to be unnatural... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his soul Which of course he did Ironic. He sought to save Kislev but instead only sealed its fate He's more Daniel than man now

You can really see in this how chaos corruption can seep into someone. How an intense hatered for the enemy can cause one to end up becoming exactly what khorne wants you to be.

That prologue i must admit was extremely well done, i was sceptical and was happily amazed at how nicely done it was, the Norscan didnt do anything which is a downside and no alternate path but still pretty great. Shame Yuris brother isn't a unique lord or hero in this scenario nor is Yuri in MP.

Many in the comments are debating weather or not it is a good idea to have more story based campaigns. I think if the regular DLCs will offer some small scale story based campaigns it could work. It dose not work as the main dish, TW is better as a sandbox, but small mini campaigns with story and characters can be a nice side dish.

I played both mini campaigns recently and found both Wood Elves and Beastmen to be way more fun to play in their respective mini campaigns than on the main map, which is definitely bad. But we know CA has improved a lot to make races fun from the beginning, so maybe ?

@@Neoras-official well, big world with sandbox nature of campaign is more interesting in repayablility aspect. How many times can you run a story-focused campaign with determined plot and ending? Total War is about scale, about turning history upside-down and clashing enemies which could never face each other on the battlefield. Of course, if CA could create quest-series with cool cutscenes for all the LLs of Mortal Empires, noone would object. But let's be real, that's a bit too much to implement, considering amount of factions from 1st and 2nd parts.

I like what we got with the awesome introduction scenes all the races have (especially the ogres one) and honestly as much as we all love story lines they tend to be a hindrance to sandbox experiences. tying your campaigns too much to a story narrative is how you get campaigns like the vortex that force the players to play towards one direction when they could instead have a campaign that could be played in many different ways

There was and it was called Eye for an Eye and Season of Revelation but people complained due to sunk cost fallacy or what not. I say, MORE STORY! There's always that crappy (Im)mortal Empires if you want Sandbox. There is next to 0 reason to have a half sandbox and a sandbox.

@@zacharyjackson1829 Problem with vortex is just how it was handled, not the idea itself. Most dlc campaigns (eshint/malus/thorek ironbrow/tomb kings) have got objectives too, but they don't spawn armies that raze random settlements. If vortex spawned armies that only attacked the ritual cities+your own armies while ignoring your other cities it would have been a fine mechanic.

Well, people have earned it. After all, for the last five years they have been shouting with one voice: "Vortex boring!", "I have too little freedom", "do not waste your money on unnecessary things", Nobody likes or plays VORTEX !!! "I want to conquer for the 30th time 68 regions, and then end the campaigns on turn 70 and start over with a different race ... because I have too little patience and focus "," Only map coloring, this is the real essence of sAnDBOx GaMes ". After many years, it finally worked. Greater freedom at the expense of narrative.

@Neoras We could get both, story for general directions, it's up to you to decide how you want your problem to be solved. Each faction and legendary lord come with a background story anyway, so let's expand on that, add more character to them. I want to know more about the different lords' motivations during gameplay not only just during cutscenes. (With voices, it doesn't have to be a lot of them, like malus dark blade's possession)

To play as a mortal on his way to demonhood would have been cool as well. Stacking up mutations and proving yourself to the Dark Gods. The Demon prince has already done it. It's like starting the game with a leveled up character

@@cheesus7672 It is, sorta. You play as the Ungol Prince, Yuri, before he became the Prince of Spooktown, Daniel the Daemon. You don't really stack mutations or anything, but you do follow Yuri down his very narrow path to shooting a bear in the face. I'd personally very much like to see a Path to Glory-style campaign starring a Norscan chieftain who rises to Chaos Lord status before becoming a Daemon Prince, but this is a good compromise.

Yeah, it was weird AF that the traitor was immediately granted demonhood just after ONE pray to the Dark Four. Especially since he was a loser f***ed by their enemy and Four don't appreciate failure. Could really make sense if he started as a mortal with maybe glowy eyes and worked his way to take the form of this abomination, levelling from human "parts" to "less human, more demonic".

The introduction to the game reminded me of heroes of might and magic but a better one, an updated one. The story and decision makings were really engaging and it didn't feel like a sequel to total war Warhammer 1 and 2 for me. It felt like a totally new game and I loved that part more than I thought I would. Having played the previous 2 a fair bit (1000+ hours), I was hyped for this one but I usually get disappointed when I'm too hyped. Let's just say I'm more hyped now for what's to come than before playing it ... Great job CA ! Thx for this masterpiece.

This faction existed in TWW2. Honestly at this point there is no reason for them to leave any Warhammer Fantasy content on the table. The game rules, why not add every faction? I'd even like to see proper naval combat.

we will eventually get her, the first dlc ill probably be the chaos dwarfs but we should get her as a dlc sooner or later

What a great trailer! great voice acting too! For me this feels like a DLC lord pack with Yuri and Gerik as the two (brothers?) and you can choose which path you wanna go (Yuri dark path or Gerik bright path OR like making Yuri stronger with Gerik as a hero in his army. Personal thing; I am not too fond of the name Yuri but I understand the names fitting and the character looks great even tho I am happy to see Gerik as a blonde nordic character (for me nordic stuff - especially fantasy - is always for me in line with blonde and red hair)

Good tutorial campaing, it was totally worth it to play that. Perhaps the story is very similar that the one of arthas (warcraft 3) and have some typical arquetipes, but it was able to got me the sensation of care about the situation and the characters, conecting with yuri and feeling sorry for his fate, it gives a lot more meaning to playing with the deamon prince or with kislev.
