This is part 2 of the restoration of a Sony C5 betamax. It is also applicable to the C7, T7 plus other similar Sony machines at the time that used the same deck.
The belts are changed in this video with detailed descriptions of changing most of the belts - I seemed to be missing some footage!
Part 3 coming soon which includes servicing the timer switches and replacing the troublesome servo capacitors. More on the later can be seen on Palsite - www.palsite.com/slc5tech.html - don't worry about the existing tants but just scroll down to see the main culprits. I have found that Sanyo caps are used in various locations but not always the same locations from one machine to another so if you see ANY Sanyo electrolytics (light blue) in the capstan and head drum servo sections (which is on the right side of the bottom board looking from the front), change them.
Hope you enjoyed this video. Would you prefer longer videos with more in-depth content or shorter highly edited videos? I prefer the longer ones as it may give someone with some technical knowledge a good chance to resurrect a machine that might otherwise end up in landfill...
please do like and subscribe - I have a lot more videos to come - just need to finish them!
