SONY ILCE-7III Tear down and shutter unit replacement 

if I ever have to do this to my a7iii, I thank god videos like this exist, the fact you were able to do this without sorting the screws while doing it is insane

This camera has more screws than you can take pictures before the shutter fails :D

literally just completed this repair. thank you for this. i ordered the shutter on ebay for US$130 and reapir took around 1.5 hours. much more economical and faster than a repair from sony or switching cameras

Thank you very much for this video, I followed your directions and was able to save lots of money by just buying the shutter assembly. I placed each screw on a piece of tape sticky side up in the order of removal and that helped quite a bit. The ribbon cables definitely need patience and care if it's your first time like me.

Very good video, I was able to replace my shutter on the A7RIII without issue. Saved me $400 and sending it off in the mail. This fixed the shutter being stuck in the down position and the camera error message.

Wow.. I didn't know it was this easy to remove the 1st cover where you can see the board.. My A7riii has a damaged slot 1 so I think will just buy a new card slot and then replace it by my own.. I have an electronic background but i haven't repaired something for about a decade because i shifted career so this one is very helpful. Cheers sir!.

Anyone can replace items in modern cameras. Just like mac computers. The only go one way. Not easy to mess up. Don’t be discouraged and stop paying $100s if you can do it yourself. Hardest part are the flex cables but once you know how to properly disconnect them you are golden.

What an excellent job. My only slight criticism would be that you blew into the camera with your breath and not using a aerosol airline Incredible job, though really impressed with that

I have a problem with my camera! the shutter is stuck with the error message " turn the power off then on" when i turn on the camera there is a very loud noise! the sound come out of the shutter drive motor i think, and the shutter still close. is this the shutter or the motor drive?

Did you have to perform a calibration after you replaced the shutter? Some of the eBay sellers are saying it's needed after replacement.

You are a talented guy. I had a stuck shutter. I took it apart and moved the shutter. It seems stiff. Everything is still in a plastic container. How much would you charge me to have a look at it, give me your opinion and put it back together. It might need a new shutter.

I know this isnt an a6000 but if you could help me figure outa problem im having with mine. The shutter curtain closes and does not return unless i turn it off and remove battery... however it will not go back immediately i must leave t alone for a while before the curtain resets and opens back up. i have contemplated opening and fixing myself but i heard simply replacing will not solve the problem because it requires some kind of calibration with software available only to repair centers. would you recommend i replace it myself i have all the tools and sufficient experience with electronics to be confident in the replacement however the calibration with dedicated software is what has held me back.

I broke the glass on my a7rii viewfinder housing, not the viewfinder, the viewfinder still works but the glass is broken. Can that glass be replaced without having to replace the entire viewfinder?

Flying an FPV drone. Is it a very difficult task to keep the IBIS of the a7s3 from moving? Is there any way to fix IBIS without disassembling it? If I shoot the camera without the sensor inside it with a silicone gun without disassembling it, will the IBIS be fixed and the camera work? Kak kerja di servis center mana ya? Kamera ilce-7rm3a tidak tajam hasil nya.. dibagian kanan & kiri terasa blur.. saya tes dengan bukaan f4 sampai -f7 masih tidak bisa tajam,saya coba lensa dan setingan sama di a7iii dan hasilnya normal.. apakah sensornya yg bermasalah?

Good luck taking that apart and not losing screws, do not attempt this unless you are confident, those fragile ribbon cables are easily broken.

I own a Sony a7r VI with a Sony 24-70 gm lens. Why is it that when I use AF-C to shoot. The camera lags a bit when I want to rapid shoot on single shot option? I tried everything from changing around the settings but it only made a slight difference on the speed performance. I even switched sd cards and nothing. I tested my lens with Sony and it's fine.
