Pretty random choice of SF3 rep btw. In previous games the devs decided to start with more popular chars like Ibuki, then types as Dudley in SF4 and Urien in SF5. And then the games added less popular chars like Hugo in SF4 and Oro in SF5. So it's definitely unexpected to start with Elena.

nah, they're probably just halfway done with the rest of the season 2 characters and don't wanna show incomplete work. honestly, with how long development takes and with the negotiations behind guest characters, i wouldn't be surprised if they've been working on them since launch lmao

@@tatzeta And that reminds me of the matter of how SF devs managed to save this hot news? As they failed to save the entire base roster + the entire dlc season 1? What happened now, that they were able to save Terry and Mai? And actually they werent able to save Bison and Elena from leakers... but the original leaks said it was Bison, Elena, Vega, Sakura and Mika. Many other fg companies, and obviously outside fgs as well, cant avoid leaks, yet the SF devs were successful to protect the most notable fg news in the latest years.

Capcom themselves said it takes about two years for dev/testing of a character. Good chance terry and Elena are playable internally, but no reason to take the spotlight from the character that is soon to come. It’s still essentially the same on what they did for s1 reveals.

Considering many people's introduction to Terry is from Smash, I wouldn't be surprised if people watching the SGF casually would see the trailer and go "YO, IS THAT TERRY FROM SMASH!?"

I'm almost curious to wonder how pissed off the fanbase woulda become if the season was ALL guest characters. It'll turn into the same heated debates that the MK community has with "wasted slots for original characters from our game". I do kinda commend GG for still not having any guests, even if I feel it could help the game grow. It somehow makes the game more authentic in that sense. (I still want Dante in GG.)

​@@leithaziz2716While some people doubtless would bitch, which is inevitable, I don't think it would be as bad as the _MK_ guest character situation for a couple of reasons. The first is that due to whom the guest characters are in this instance, it readily hints at another game that * lot* of people, myself included, have wanted for quite some time in the form of _CvS3_ (or, hell, a much more polished version of _SvC2_ even). That alone is something that the _MK_ guest characters can't really replicate, and I'd even take one or two more guest characters this season--likely Kyo and maybe Iori or Nakoruru--to all but guarantee it's a thing. The second major difference between this and the _MK_ guest character issue is that *all* of the MK guest characters so far are one-and-done characters who never show up again, in part because they're such licensing nightmares on average. Hell, the thing with Ash from _Evil Dead_ fell through at the 11th hour in _MK11_ and I already don't remember who replaced him since they'll never show up again. Meanwhile, both Terry and Mai could easily show up in future mainline _SF_ games now unless Capcom and SNK have a pretty bitter falling out. That said, I do get what you're saying. It's just weird to read as some who genuinely wouldn't mind another guest character over M. Bison coming back already, and I say this as someone who likes M. Bison.

Dont worry, even SF5 got 5 seasons. This game is just starting and wont end soon. Dudley is almost certain because the company is aware of his popularity. He was even among the first SF3 reps showing in SF4.
