I know, i was stunned by Vorador’s expressions and how fluid his eyebrows and mouth moves along with his head when he tilts it in an inquisitive manner. You can tell they spent a lot of time working on the animations so that the cutscenes can work.
I find it interesting that Vorador is the only person without having some sort of omniscience (Unlike the Elder God, Moebius and Kain) to realize Raziel was both the Vampire savoir and the Hylden destroyer. All of the other people were too biased or just plainly misunderstood the prophecy while Vorador's cynicism allowed him to regard Raziel in a different light and realized that he shared traits from both heroes so it's hard to pick up what he really is.
His "let's look for the other side of this coin" says it all. He suspect Raziel could choose which one to be. What, perhaps, he never knew was that Raziel could fulfill both roles at the same time.

The expressions, way of speech, everything all orchestrated to perfection. This game is the very definition of success. Most people don't understand, they need to make a sequel to Legacy of Kain for the Ps3. They adapted the DMC fighting style that was a 1 up.
13 years later, you could not be more right, although I think we need a remake of the trilogy first - with all the music and voices untouched. Of course also should be on PS5 and PC. This game when updated in modern graphics will still stand the test of time because of the phenomenal writing and VO.
god, these facial animations are godly for their time. You don't need to listen to what they're saying or their tone to understand what they're thinking or feeling
Blood Omen 2 was being developed at the same time as Soul Reaver 2 but handled by a different team, while Blood Omen 2 was supposed to cover an alternate timeline created by the paradox of Soul Reaver 2's ending the two teams didn't communicate well and this is how Blood Omen 2 introduce many inconsistencies and plot holes in the story. Defiance was created with the intention of filling in those plot holes created by the miscommunication as well as continuing the overall story, however some plot holes, such as Vorador's presence, weren't filled because a lot was left on the cutting room floor. Originally there was supposed to be a quest in Defiance where Raziel would have been responsible for resurrecting Vorador and it was to be given to him by a still human Umah who would upon completion be rewarded by Vorador by being turned into a vampire.
Since you seem to be somewhat knowledgeable on the subject can you explain why vorador being back is a plot hole? the way I see it at the end of soul reaver 2 Raziel is sent back long before Vorador is killed and sets up a new timeline that we don't know the history to and there is no reason to assume Vorador would be slain in this new timeline, at least not that I can see. Janos showing up at the end of Blood omen 2 on the other hand is not at all something I can understand.
@@mohawklogan Despite the changes made to the original timeline young Kain still traveled into the past and slayed young William the Just in order to prevent him from becoming the Nemesis, this in turn was the catalyst that allowed Mobius to incite the human uprising against the vampires which lead to their near extinction. Vorador was a victim of the vampire genocide and this event remained unchanged. Defiance answered the question as to why/how Janos Audron was alive in Blood Omen 2, Raziel resurrected him in Defiance, which took place in the past before Blood Omen 2, hence how he appears later in Blood Omen 2. Janos's resurrection was part of what caused the new altered timeline of young Kain. Vorador on the other hand was never explained, however it was confirmed by an employee that it was intended to be resolved in Defiance as well. A human Umah was supposed to task Raziel with the resurrection of Vorador and upon resurrection Vorador would have rewarded Umah by turning her into a vampire. It would have filled in the plot hold of Vorador's appearance in Blood Omen 2 and filled in some of Umah's backstory, however it was supposedly cut because they felt it was redundant to have two resurrection quests.
Why would a human help a vampire? Did she want to be a vampire from the start? Or, maybe it was similar to the Cabal sympathisers in Blood Omen 2 who considered the vampires a lesser evil than the Sarafan

I consider poor Janos & Vorador to have been dealt the worst hand by Fate (or by that jackass Moebius). I see that they're doing Soul Reaver for the Ps5, I'd better start saving for that!
If "Destroy All Humans" can be remastered with the original voice files then so can this game! LoK needs to be brought back into attention, if not to receive a final chapter, at least people can be inspired by it's themes.
K A He did that because the guardians of the pillars were working with the sarafan. Retaliation for the guardians betrayal. Yes, he knew they were originally vampires. Janos Aldrin explains all this to Raziel. This occurred 500 years before Ariel’s murder.

@@kevinallain2415 he did as revenge as this was after the Sarafan Assaulted Janos's Keep and murdered him. ans Since the Sarafan were working with the guardians, revenge was jsut right and he murdered 6 of the guardians, only reason why he didnt get the last 3 : (SPOILERS?) Mobious and Malek were holding Raziel down in the Cathedral and mobious knew vorador ws there and kept Malek from intervening(a ploy ot consolidate the power of the Srafan under him). Mortanius wasnt present at the time he was in possesion's off Janos's Heart and was in the process of raising Kain..possibly?.

Yeah, the glitch where you couldn't escape the Temple of Darkness was triggered by chasing away the birds at the entrance. If you leave them alone then you don't get the glitch.
That's because Blood Omen 2 takes place in a different timeline created by the paradox at the end of Soul Reaver 2. This is also the reason why it was released after Soul Reaver 2, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to understand this whole Hylden/Vampire thing. Blood Omen 2 was created solely for story and narrative purposes, so we would understand the events of Legacy of Kain : Defiance.

I hear a lot about Twilight and whatnot these days. Every time someone mentions those prissy vampires two things come to mind... Dracula from Castlevania and every vampire from LoK. In my eye, those are characters that show just how wise, powerful and monstrous a vampire is supposed to be. I have yet to find any vampire short of Bela Lugosi that can even compare.
I like this visual aspect more than that of Defiance. Somehow, it is much more realistic, and very expressive. In defiance, it all seemed too... arcade. The encounter with Vorador truly impacted me when I played the game. The voice actor, as usual, is excellent... and Vorador himself is a flawless character, although less involved in the plots of Nosgoth after Blood Omen 1. D.R.
That's because Vorador cared very little of what happened to the world by the BO1 era. He was the last made-by-the-old-vampires after all. His only concern was Kain, and what would happened to him after he died. But even with that, he didn't cared that much.
half right buddy, as seen in SR1 and implied in the end of SR2 vampires were made from the dead by giving them a part of your vampire soul. so i dont see this as a clue to a possible ressurection.
@@aladinthemonkey768 resurrecting a vampire isn't about making new vampires. Funny enough though, Kain does make new vampires when he becomes strong enough. But that is neither here nor there. Resurrecting vampires has nothing to do with the Heart of Darkness. Janos needed his heart back to be resurrected, because when you kill any vampire by simply severing a vital organ, they come back when you reunite it with the rest of the body. That's why Dumah comes back to life when Raziel takes the giant spears out of his body. All Kain had to do was reunite Vorador's head with his body. Furthermore, when Kain did make his own progeny, he discovered an entirely new way of creating vampires, as mentioned in the SR1 manual. So creating a vampire from a dead body is something Kain invented later in life.
@@jehkart that's not all vampires. If you read the SR1 manual, it makes a distinction between vampires created the way that Vorador did and the way Kain breathed unlife into corpses.
@@aladinthemonkey768 well even an amateur bitch can put a severed head back onto a body. Just like how Raziel just had to plop Janos's heart back into his chest cavity. Also if you've played Blood Omen 1, Kain had tons of magical abilities by the end of the game that made him basically invincible. It isn't stated in the game that he resurrected Vorador, but it is known that there was originally supposed to be a cutscene depicting him bringing back Vorador that was removed from the final version of Blood Omen 2. The fact that Kain specifically acknowledges that Vorador was once dead alludes to this, it's really not saying much to assume he brought him back between Blood Omen 1 and 2 so that Vorador could raise an army for him. It's the only logical explanation, and it doesn't require Kain to have been immensely powerful. He did something anyone could have done in order to bring him back.
I really like BO2, even if it has some mistakes. They got the right atmosphere and thanks to the altered timeline, it makes sense. It is also implied Vorador was somehow resurrected before the actual story happens as ArvelDreth said.
It doesn't make sense vorador is alive after dying in blood omen 1 and defiance and it has trillions of plotholes blood omen 2 is non cannon like dead sun

No, Jano is rescued by Kain during BO2. The Hylden lord is physically present not possessing someone. Janos is being used to power The Device, and appears to be a huge monster until freed then returns to his normal appearance. While the pillars decay lets more Hylden through to spiritually to possess others they needed Janos to open the physical door.
Probably, due to the alterations to the timeline in SR2, Vorador was either saved from his execution by Kain, or he was resurrected after his execution. As for Janos, in Defiance, Raziel tore the Heart of Darkness from Kain's chest, and used it to raise Janos. Later, once the Pillars fell, Janos was possessed by the Hylden Lord, defeated earlier when Kain slew the Dark Entity. After handing Raziel's ass (if he even had one) to him, he flew off, likely to draw more Hylden into Nosgoth.
I remember that I played SR2 before Metal Gear Solid 2, and when I heard the president speak it immediately made me think of Vorador. I love it when I recognize a voice actor like that...
@xhihixd Yea it's a pretty complex story, but the jist of it is that both Kain and Raziel had close relations (wanted or not) with Moebius which afforded them the ability to use him to travel through time. Although both were unaware that they were doing so under his influence and only doing what he wanted in the first place. The other characters throughout the series (Janos Audron, Vorador, and the Sarafan) all exist only in their rightful time periods.
The only thing BO2 might explain (though I have my doubts) is what happened to Janos at the end of Defiance **SPOILERS AHEAD** as he flies away after being possessed. He could have gone to the Hylden City . In BO2 he has devolved, much like Raziel's brothers in SR1, and lies chained to feed the Hylden's machines.
as far as i understand raziel changes history in several ways in soul reaver 2 and defiance that could mean vorador survived and would be alive in BO2. (alternative timeline). maybe something he did distracted the mob or helped vorador be freed. but rumors are that they intended to deal with his ressurection in a deleted part of defiance or "the next game" where they traveled to less than 200 years prior to blood omen 2 and ressurected him. it is hard thinking with 4 timelines^^'
Well, there is the matter of Blood Omen 2, in the altered timeline forged by a paradox at the end of Soul Reaver 2. Vorador was still alive 200-400 years after he was executed in the "main" timeline, as leader of the vampire Cabal. Man, Legacy of Kain is one of the best franchises in the land. Hope they make another...
Legacy of Kain needs a dope ass anime...all the way from Blood Omen to the end...that way we can see Kain's glory days too before Raziel is the protagonist
@Joudas How can this be 500 years before Blood Omen 1 if the pillars had corrupted just before he met Vorador? Shouldn't this be 30 years before Kain is murdered as a human or something like that.
heh i never got to see this cut seen. ran into the glych in darkforge that made it so the exit is seald off after you get the dark soulreaver. had to redo it and enter and exit darkforge while in Spectral Realm so the door would not shut and seal. think chaceing the ravens that dissapers cuases this glych (wish i knew sooner) did not show me the clip seen but at least it got me through darkforge >.< least i geta watch it here
the game blood omen 2 was the paradox created by the reshuffling of history that happened at the end of SR2 when kain got raziel to refuse to enter the soul reaver the depth of the plot on BO2 cant really be appreciated until you realize it is the after math of all the traveling back in time through out SR2 and defiance.there are actually no plot holes in BO2. defiance carries the only minor plothole but it was so subtle no one even notices
@Joudas Actually in Defiance it explains it. Yes Vorador was captured by Moebius but they had not executed him yet. That age of Blood Omen was altered because Moebius instead went to see the Elder God to tell him Kain is dead and instead of being decapitated like in Blood Omen he was killed by Raziel in front of the Elder God. Defiance is what leads up to Blood Omen 2. So most likely Vorador escaped his captivity when the Pillars crumbled.
I blame this game for setting the standards for every future iteration of vampires meet on films and other depictions looking trite and asinine but it goes beyond that, almost all depictions of demonic beings as well, angelic and celestial the bar was set to high to make these other fantasies believable, they would have to match or at least touch upon the sheer brilliance and quality of the legacy of kain series and sadly only a few did.
@xhihixd Just one of the many continuity problems that're never addressed. Blood Omen 2 was made by a different team, not written by Amy Hennig, and generally isn't great story-wise.
yes it did...because Vorador is still alive..this mean that defiance took place and that the edge of the coin was tuched...also at the end of defiance Janos is still possed by the Hylde which i belive will later turn into the Sarafan/Hylden Lord
Vorador is seen again in the events of BO2 which occur well after Defiance so Vorador manages to get away somehow. Unless CD goes along with the old idea that BO2 isn't part of the series, even though Defiance sets up most everything in it to happen.
It's best to just forget BO2 ever happened. It was an abomination to the story, which was not written by the same person as BO1, SR1, SR2 and Defiance. It had numerous plot holes and in general was a bastard child of the series.
Yeah, the worst part of it is that the glitch affects the exit door of the soul reaver temple it traps you inside of it and you don't know it until you solve all the stuff inside. It was so long ago i really don't remember how i got around it but I know it skip this scene. Shame cause vorador is one my favorite characters
Also Vorador is supose to be alive at this point for Kain to meet him in Blood omen 1, remember Kain has just been born it will be 33 years before he becomes a vampire. Moebius will alter the timeline using Raziel as a catalyst to kill Vorador early during the course of this game. Until Raziel goes there that change will not occur.
@Joudas I actually read somewhere that they were going to address this issue in Defiance, but that got cut like Turel's realm got cut from SR1 due to time constraints. I was hoping with Dark Prophecy that the answer would be written in there, but alas that got cancelled. So we can only assume. I think some form of ressurection, like how Raziel ressurects Janos. Minus the heart of darkness. Too many people in this series come back randomly from the dead. revival from magic shouldn't be ruled out.
there was one in the making but one of the voice actors died and the rights for LOK were sold. but we all hope for a new one (well there is a reboot in the making)
@Joudas that doesn't make sence, Kain in the Soul Reaver games is 1000 years older than he's in Blood Omen. They said he was resurected in Blood Omen 2 was he not?
He was when he began his crusade of vampiric rule over Nosgoth when he made the choice at the Pillars to preserve his own life and act as Nosgoth's ruler. He and his army clashed with the Sarafan and he was essentially killed by the Sarafan Lord only to be, not so much resurrected but reborn (thus him needing to regain his strength and powers first). Thus the events of Blood Omen 2. The Kain that you see in the Soul Reaver series is him from the future, deformed and semi-evolved, brought through time thanks to Moebius's Chronoplasmic chambers.
At the end of what? At the end of this game (which is some 30 years before Kain becomes a vampire), he's busy killing the human members of the Circle. Thirty years after the end of this game, he is killed by a lynch mob led by Moebius.
It probably made more sense if Blood Omen 3 was finished. In the events of BO 1 Kain killed Mobius immediately after he decapitated Vorador, but in Defiance Mobious is instead killed by the Kain of the present, meaning he wasnt there at Voradors execution to be killed by the Kain of the past (thus also meaning he wasnt there to keep Vorador pinned) So in Blood Omen 2 timeline, Vorador probably never died.
@@Brucifer2 unlikely, by the time Mortanius calls Kain to go to the pillars he just finished killing Moebius, The reason why Moebius is on Vorador's Mansion is because of a mistake and the writers have acknowledged that it could be an illusion. The elder God resurrected Moebius.
@xhihixd One of the driving points in this storyline was time travel, and due to the manipulations of Moebius, the time streamer, several characters were bounced around between different time periods. Past, future, and back to the past were a constant. Since Moebius had the ability to control time, he pretty much used it to drive all the major characters to places he wanted them to be so that he could manipulate them into doing what his master had planned.
So you got that too... when i was playing BO2 and finally meet the cabal.. i was like WTF..? Vorador died in BO1 and now he is... alive...??? Also at the beginning of BO1 Kain finds The dark heart... and in BO2 Janus Audron is alive...???
shame that raziel never learns to telport like vorder and kain and a Legacy of kain film would be amazing but a bit hard to follow if the games are anything to go by, althougt thats what makes them brlliant

6 years later, I’ll try to answer that. Assuming BO2 as cannonical, then it represents an altered timeline, after Raziel didn’t kill Kain (as destined) and then Kain saved Raziel from being absorbed by the Reaver (as destined) as shown in SR2. In this different timeline it is implied that something happened during Vorador’s execution, since Moebius that was supposed to die there too, showed up in the Spirit Forge at the end of LoK: Defiance. So if Moebius didn’t die in this timeline, it’s entirely possible Vorador didn’t either.
