this is as close to a 3D Claymore game as we're going to get

Looks great! Nice to see a game with 'soul' in its title, and featuring rusty swords and grimy villages, and its more of a DMC style action game than another souls-like!

Oh, so this is where Berserk and Claynore's lovechild went. I jest, but it basically IS that, because it feels like a combination of both Berserk and aymore's genes, and also more than the sum of its components.

Oh shit is this like an indie/AA level DMC style Character Action game? I'm always down for that. The last one I played, Ultra Age, was AMAZING.

Love Sebastian's reviews. The only suggestion I have is these should be written in present tense rather than past tense. As my grade school teachers taught me, history is dead, but literature and games are alive!

It's a great game with some flaws. So far I'm enjoying it although it's not at the DMC level, clearly. The support mechanic with lute is fantastic.. I'm doing a full walkthrough in my channel for anyone interested with daily videos, and will see it through the end.

Another game I was looking forward to, and thankfully another one Sebastian Ruiz mostly enjoyed. It's always a concern when one hears his voice cuz a game could be about to be torn to shreds.

I'm glad this wasn't yet another soulslike, i was getting tired of those. We need more stylish action games!

Wait a minute, that broken arm recovery, that black armor, that ghost-loli helping the one-eyed MC during rage mode, that aesthetic, that HUGE dragon-slaying raw-metal-chunk looking, unwielding sword! could this be.... is this....A DARK SOULS REFERENCE???!!! hahaha all jokes aside, this looks like a massive Berserk fan game with a bit of classic God of War combat. I am going to give it try since I am a absolute fanboy of said franchises, thanks for the review, people, I'll see you next time!

I checked out this review while downloading the game. I must say this person is very much underrating this game. It uses some great DMC1 fixed cameras and the cinematic moments are really well done and the pacing with story is a bit heavier than a DMC game. Overall I would give it a 9/10. Plus the world building is unique and something refreshing.

If only the combat was fully fluid. The game looks great, but I prefer smooth combat with decent graphics to slightly janky combat with gorgeous graphics.

I made an extensive review of this game..would be nice if someone would give it a chance.

Solstice just became free on Epic so seeing a free game, I downloaded and tried. I think I played about 10 minutes. This is an example of what not to do when creating a story or game. First you get greeted by an accessibility menu. This is fine, nut there are no options to turn off subtitles. Subtitles ruin games for me. I do not care that I didn't hear what someone said, That is part of the fun. (I also hate a minmap, i turn it off if a game allows it) Then when the game starts, You sit and listen to a story forever. The game i lucky i stuck around until the end. A long intro, even if it is a good one, kills all will to play the game. To this day, i have not played Far Cry 2. The intro is too damn long. This game has an ex-positional voice-over while showing the camera spin around some painted glass painfully slowly. I did't even listen to half of it because i was verbally complaining. Then the game starts. There is no explanation to any of the controls except for a quick onscreen flash at loading times. Which no one pays attention to because a game dev is expected to explain the control through the game narrative. This is lazy. it didn't matter. i instinctively mashed the strong attack button (It is universally the weak attack button, don't know why they changed it.) And the button mashing got me a Diamond. (i was on the hardest game mode available) It looks pretty yes. but then the game is so linear and boring. The story is also done wrong in my opinion. Here's how it could have been done well. You play Briar. Briar alone. The game gradually expose you to new enemies and new mechanics. You are on your way to save loot for some reason. On the way, as a surprise, you start getting consumed by the corruption. Giving you the power to transform at the cost of losing some valuable in game item. The transformation makes you stronger, but you as the player feel the impact of using it. And the characters need to try to not use it. The game forces you more and more to use it. You can even get to loot and save her (The non ghost version of her) Perhaps even experience support from a human loot. Loot is killed later. In some way or capacity. Either while Briar watches or far away because Briar was not fast or string enough. The player realizes that the useful loot is now gone. Wow! Really handicap the player, make them feel it. Briar goes full beast mode for a story beat, Using your really valuable item. The player needs to feel the anguish too Morn morn , sad sad, emotional beats. yay. loot comes back to be your support. She calms your beast mode. the game ups the drop chance of the lost valuable item to fill up your lost loot. This needs to be done subtly And for those players planning on using the resource because they believe the game will just give it back, The game checks how much of it you have before "The fall" And ups the drop rate only until the original capacity is restored. At which point it goes back to being super rare It is after all 20 hours long. They have the time. Let me know if you like this weird version of the story if you read this late review. Perhaps this even happens and I don't know because I got BORED playing a GAME. That is the biggest sin. We play games for fun. if we are bored playing a game, you need to start a new career Also perhaps fix the camera issue.

Not good very repetitive, frustrating, and the missions take forever to pass. The mazes are annoying as well. The camera is really bad. The story starts off really slow until mission ten or eleven to start getting interesting.

This review was written in the wrong tense. Don't write in past tense unless you want to sound weird and lofty.

Geez could they try any harder to rip off Berserk? How about we get a new game actually starring Guts. Kentaro Miura is probably rolling in his grave.
