"Angry Old Veteran vs 700 Redcoats - Samuel Whittemore" by The Fat Electrician would be a great tie-in with this.

The Minute Men were basically a self defense force used primarily against native Americans, pirates and in some cases the French. The French and Indian war or 7 Years War of 1756-1763. So the colonies were quite well armed, trained and used to fighting in their own defense before the conflict started with the English.

Lord William Pitt the Earl of Chatham is highly respected in America for having the courage and wisdom to support the American cause. He even said to the British Parliament: “You cannot but respect their cause and wish to make it your own.”

As we are learning more about Oak Island Nova Scotia, Europeans (English, Portuguese, Spanish) were in the new world hundreds of years BEFORE Columbus. History, as we have been taught, is WROING!!

It should be noted that the officer-in-charge and eight soldiers charged with murdering the five civilians at the Boston Massacre were defended by future president (and constant gadfly) John Adams -- who got all but two of the soldiers off. Those two soldiers, found guilty of manslaughter, managed to plead down the death penalty and instead were punished with branding.

And oh, silly Brit’s, we were no longer “British colonies” sure, on paper we were, but we were already Americans in reality. Sore like some of the crazies will point out, only 3% actually fought, but huge amounts of the non combatants supported them, obviously, enough to feed and arm them, and win. Plus we fought them in unorthodox ways, relatively new, at least while using firearms and cannon. Guerilla warfare is a whole new ball game when firearms is involved.

The minutemen is why the US has a gun problem today! It's also the US's strongest defense against invasion. The political problem, how do you make it well regulated?
@ericbarlow6772
@ericbarlow6772 27 дней назад
A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. A couple of things here that make the text a little ambiguous today. Back then capitalization was more free than it is today. Sometimes nouns were capitalized like they are in modern standard German. This means free state can be and has in the past interpreted by some to mean an individual’s free state or state of freedom. If you read it this way, the right to keep and bear arms is independent of the necessity of a well regulated militia. Also, the text talks about a well regulated militia, not well regulated arms as they had just thrown off a tyrannical government, they were not keen on surrendering their arms to another one for the purpose of a militia. Their belief was an armed citizenry would help check the potential tyranny of the government. Both the Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers do help us understand the political theories of some at the time. I know I should read them again as it’s been about 30 years since I studied them.

Uh yeah you generally lose less men defending than attacking but let’s not forget this is by far the best, most veteran & most powerful military the world had ever seen at that point (like the US is today) against the colonists who don’t even have their own country lol. They may be defending but still have very little training, very limited supplies, no real military infrastructure (at least not a good one by any means). The reason they defended for so long & inflicted so many casualties on the enemy was the defensive position, pure grit, will & almost certainly decades or years of experience w guns prior to any war Shouts to the Brits tho, I’d (not happily) but very willingly go to war with any country fcking w the UK. Would enlist immediately no doubt if that happened. Same for Canada & MANY other allied countries but Canada & the UK are no questions asked, you tell us where the enemy is that is attacking you & well you know what comes next. Other allies I’d be willing to assist but would need to hear why first & it better be a good reason. The UK & Canada is no questions asked, just tell me where to shoot

The colonies had no money, except thru piracy against the Spanish … which was currently illegal. So how do we pay your taxes?
@ericbarlow6772
@ericbarlow6772 27 дней назад
The Currency Act also deprived the colonies of specie (hard currency) which created a depression. It’s hard to maintain an economy when your money is going overseas to pay taxes and customs.

Yeah, except this video leaves out that we didn’t ask to be protected, or forced to fight either. Then taxed without our say in the matter, we woulda been fine in that time period no matter who was “in charge” as long as they left alone. Didn’t involve us in wars we had nothing to do with. Not wanted any part in, as a whole. Or be taxed on every single little thing, to death. Too bad we don’t feel how we used to, we could solve a lot of problems with the US. And yeah. Then they wanted to interfere with every aspect of our lives, cause problems, and give us no say in the matter, well, guess what, we have a say, and proved it. Many times over. And yet Europe has dragged us into pretty much every war since then, at least we’re the only undefeated world champ, twice over. And definitely reigning champ.

Do you think that your audience is made up of complete idiots? It's annoying that you pause to explain everything that the video just said. It is at least as clear as your explanation, and sometimes clearer.
