Saw the art style and instantly thought this was a Team Cherry title like Hollow Knight .. which apparently is getting a sequel soon! As a matter of fact, the animations and art style is almost a direct copy :o

Ugh, permanent stat progression. Unless the game has some kind of elaborate system to adjust the game difficulty as you level up (then what's the point of leveling up), this is one of those games where you're guaranteed to hit a wall of stats eventually and are forced to grind. So the late game is initially impossible, but then as you level up the early game becomes trivial and boring.

it is only 5 levels per character. dev said there's five difficulty levels too. you unlock difficulty levels by beating the game. i unlocked harder arenas by beating it as potatoe. in a vid the guy hit the button again and it said "more enemies" you have to unlock difficulty with each character individually. just like leveling. i think the leveling is to get the player unlocking stuff if they hit a wall.
