The Ballista is dope! If it had a little more spin and was a hybrid shape, I’d probably never play with anything else

Yeah, it’s a lot of fun!

Isn’t it hybrid shape? What are you looking for

@@ehersch, I think Spartus calls it that, but it's closer to an elongated with an aero-curve because it's 16.4 inches long. Pickeball Effect is a real stickler about this and keeps an entire database with these classifications.

Vatic Pro Flash is one of my 2 main paddles but this one definitely looks more beautiful.

I have the paddle and it’s solid but found I need to add a bunch of lead tape to get more power
@MatthewKPickleball
@MatthewKPickleball 8 месяцев назад
Yeah, I might try that at some point!

Totally agreed, I added some tape and it's perfect. I love how easy it feels to swing the paddle

You should rate the performance of the paddles according to features you mentioned. Example control out of 10 etc. And then if possible against another similar edgeless paddle like luxx. Saying it great doesn't really cut it

Appreciate the feedback! I try to mention specific paddle comparisons, but I find number ratings to be too subjective and easily confused for actual paddle stats to some folks. I know some other reviewers do that (as well as put together super specific stats), so definitely keep an eye out for those channels! I currently don’t plan to add that to my reviews. As for the LUXX, would love to try one out, but $250 is too steep for me. 😭

What does "compacted cells" mean? What are the specs i.e. core wall thickness, cell diameter?
@MatthewKPickleball
@MatthewKPickleball 6 месяцев назад
I believe compacted cells or small cell honeycomb are typically 6mm cells compared to the more common large cell polypropylene with 8mm cells.

@@MatthewKPickleball Thanks for the reply. Wish more companies would add the specs for the core when pushing a paddles. The cheaper, lighter PP cores in some brands break down quickly. Aramid is startiing to get used more and more for durability.

Yes, I think core experimentation is where a lot of the fun stuff happens! You might want to check out my video on the Body Helix X3 Pro. That paddle has an interesting core build-up.

More power over the Flash?
@MatthewKPickleball
@MatthewKPickleball 6 месяцев назад
I think they’re pretty comparable in the power dept, which is pretty surprising considering the Ballista V2 is edgeless!

@MatthewKPickleball OK, I don't find the Flash to have very much power but I guess that's the trade off for a good control paddle.

@MatthewKPickleball
@MatthewKPickleball 6 месяцев назад
@@robedwards6926 Both the Vatic Pro Flash Non-Prism (either 14 or 16mm) or this paddle will probably feel more powerful than your Prism. The Prism isn't thermoformed like the normal Flash Pro's or the Balissta V2, so it won't be as powerful unless you add some additional weight. You could also look at my video on the Honolulu J3. Any of these control-oriented paddles that are also thermoformed will give you a boost of power compared to the non-thermoformed Prism Flash. Hope that helps!
