Even though I’m not a high social contact person I was so afraid that I wouldn’t have any friends or social contact if I left the org. - little did I know that I never had any true friends or social contact when I was in the org. I was depressed all the time. Now I understand why and I’m so relieved to know there are true friendships outside of the cult. It really gets me that they have the nerve to title their last convention “ Love Never Fails” how would they know - they don’t practice it. 1Cor 13:4-7

I am one year younger than your mom. I came in at 16. I was the only witness in my family, until I had kids. I too woke up and I have been thrilled to see the real truth of God’s word. The idea of being personally drawn out of a cult is overwhelming, but here we are. We are not spiritually destroyed, or mentally diseased, we are free. Jesus said that the sheep hear his voice and no one can snatch them from his hand. Well, it may have taken a while, but he has kept his promise. My love to you both.
Hello Peggyann. My name is Judith and I rarely comment on RU-vid. As a matter of fact, I don't watch many videos at all anymore. I have found many of them discouraging as so many who leave the organisation, leave their faith too. It was encouraging to read your comment here and know that your faith is strong. I love your reference to Jesus' voice leading us out. I also think of his words in JOHN 6:44 when he said, "No one can come to me unless the father draws him." When we were in the organisation, that scripture was misrepresented. We would always say, "Jehovah draws people to him." But .... the scriptures says that Jehovah draws people to Jesus! The other scripture that we always misquoted was JOHN 6:68. We would always hear this scripture referenced with the words "where will you go?" But the scripture says, "To WHOM shall we go." It's humbling finding out that we were misquoting scriptures without realising it.

As I listened to your story, I kept thinking, "That sounds like me." I too was super conscientious and felt impelled to move others to be also. My motive was always pure (wanting them to have everlasting life in paradise) but looking back, I was definitely overzealous. I feel encouraged when I think of Saul of Tarsus who was on his way to arrange the murder of more Christians when Jesus told Ananias that Saul was a chosen instrument. What a dramatic change in his life! And how terrible he felt once he realised what he had done to Christ's brothers and sisters. You'd think that some of Saul's associates would have asked him about his conversion but, instead, he was persecuted by his fellow Israelites. It's the same for us. Once you leave the organisation, all your work is 'thrown out of the window'. It means nothing, such is the hold of the organisation. I too pioneered for 20 years and my husband and I were substitute Circuit Overseer and wife and had been asked to go on the circuit full-time but it all means nothing once you leave. You instantly receive the label 'apostate' which sends people running. (Like you, we are neither disfellowshipped or disassociated but nonetheless, shunned by our family and friends who are ALL in the organisation) It is a humbling experience which is actually good for us in our training. I also wanted to say that I play piano too and have found great comfort in writing songs to express my faith. I understand your comment about missing the songs. I still sing 'Jehovah God is my Shepherd' at times because I know those words are directly from PSALM 23 but any other song reminds me of the filthy organisation and feels tainted so I avoid them. To fill the gap, I've written songs as I feel moved to and I'm happy to share them with you if that's something you'd like - not that I know how exactly I'd do that. Were you both at the Resch Center convention in 2016? That was the last full convention I attended in Green Bay. I only went one day in May 2017 to Resch and I couldn't take it any more. Both the Bunker videos and that brochure trying to goad other faded JW's to "Return To Jehovah" were shown and given out to us and my immediate thought was they actually wanted us to perhaps try approaching "disfellowshipped/disassociated" ones to recruit winback them into Watchtower before it's "too late" according to WT theology/ideology.
Hi Dave. Were you (or Ali and her mom) at the convention in Green Bay in '04? That's the year the Hot Rod Power Tour ended up there. I was there for the car show and had Witnesses asking me "what's going on?" as they were trying to get out. It was a mess having two big events going on at the same time.
@@brentseymour7190 I was not. In 2004 I was a 32-year-old married reappointed ministerial servant living on Chicago's north side. I was informed that for many years the Wisconsin conventions were held in Madison instead of Green Bay. So they must have held it at Resch, Lambeau or a similar venue in Green Bay in '04 Brent with that unanticipated traffic jam. The Watchtower typically arranges conventions with negotiated arrangements at least one year in advance and normally at arenas where there won't be other conflicting major events happening simultaneously.
I suppose, with it being Green Bay, the people that get consulted may have told them or the Power Tour people it would be fine. And compared to a Packers game it actually wasn't that bad. It's just that, after a Packers game, everyone is kind of on the same page if you know what I mean. This was two completely different groups of people that didn't seem to know the other group was even there until they were trying to leave. One guy drives by doing a burnout. The next car is a family dressed in suits and dresses lol. From what I remember as a kid, it was both Janesville and Madison. I believe they alternated back and forth. Or maybe my parents alternated. Not sure.
@@brentseymour7190 Yes, because the last JW convention I went to in 2017 at Resch had around 6,200 in attendance. Even in Chicago they liked to limit them to around 10,000 when we met at White Sox Comiskey Park or the Hawthorne horse race track. The only recent exception was in 2014 when Ali, Sheryl, myself and a lot of us who didn't know each other at the time all were at the Brewers Miller Park for the special International Regional Conventions. I think we topped out at 31,000 one of those 3 days. That was different. And it was pretty hot but a LOT of JW's dressed up to the nines. I was newly divorced having just moved up to Wisconsin from Chicago as an ineligible bachelor under the "uninitiated UnScriptural divorce" rule in JW since my wife had decided to walk out on me a couple years earlier. So those were interesting times to say the least 6 years ago. Yeah, they still go all the way down to Janesville to meet for their Special Assembly Days. I last went in the fall of 2017. They are all one days now on circuit level and all conventions have been 3 days since 1993 when I came in.
Wow! Thank you for sharing. I was in the Jws for 15years as a Ministerial Servant/Regular Pioneer/ex Bethelite and in 2007 I left the organisation as I woke up after realising that when Armageddon was going to come a loving God would be committing genocide wiping out everyone except Jws. If a world leader today did that they would be charged for crimes against humanity (genocide). After realising this I started to secretly research as I knew something was not right. All I can say to ones reading this that you are not alone and that there is life after leaving the Jws.

Even tho I grew up JW I was never baptized thanks to my mom since as child seen every kid around me doing it i wanted to do it too but she always said "When you turn 18 and you still believe this is the true religion then go ahead until then you can not do it. Thanks god years later i realized how cruel their so called laws are, and what made me even more thankful i didnt do it its when I found out about all the pedophilia, rape and child molestation this cult has. Recently I was talking to my grandmother who is 71 years old and kind of explaining to her that the watchtower is not who she thinks they are and all the crimes they have covered and asked her, what if at the end you find out this was all a lie? She didnt even know how to answer me, which broke my heart i feel that she is so brainwashed into this cult that she cant even think on her own. Your mom is so brave!
What a great video and so nice to meet your 'mum'. No matter what age a person is they are as they say still young at heart and all of us who are getting on know and feel that. The life of a born in (or long time member) is an indoctrination but also evolves quickly into a lifestyle but there is no time in life that a person would pass on not being told the truth or enlightened to a lie they had been taught. Freedom has no age restrictions and your mother is a great example of a strong Lady who has accepted that and moved on to better life. What is your opinion and have you calibrated the same scriptures with other bibles with NWT? In English NWT they've completely removed those scriptures but in Russian NWT they've not removed. There are other Bible versions that say: 1John 5:7 For there are three witnesses: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three are in agreement. (Amp)

@@debrawilson333 It's worth noting that the bible speaks of a husband and wife being 'one'. We all understand that this does not mean being the same person but being in unity with each other, working together. Jesus also spoke of being 'one' with his father in JOHN 17. He then went on to pray that his disciples be 'one' with him too. When we were in the organisation, we were taught to look at scriptures in isolation which led us to wrong conclusions. I was SO SURE of my beliefs whilst in the organisation because I had the scriptures to back everything up but ..... I was misled! The scriptures were taught in a misleading way. Looking at the bible as a whole is the key isn't it? If a person read the bible for the first time, I cannot see how they would come to the conclusion that Jesus is God. Jesus clearly said that he was God's son. He prayed to his father and his father raised him from the dead. Having said these things, I know that the Trinity is a very touchy subject for many so my purpose in writing this is not to be contentious but, rather, to encourage others like me who believe whole heartedly in God being our heavenly father and Jesus being our brother. It is meant for encouragement, not discord :)
Hi me agapi. I saw your question here and was moved to reply. The organisation teaches that when a person is anointed by holy spirit, the scriptures speak to them in a special way - it is as though the scriptures speak directly to them. Considering that we were taught that the scriptures were written for the anointed alone with the 'Other Sheep' merely beneficiaries of this arrangement between Jehovah and the anointed, it is understandable that individuals could feel that the scriptures were speaking directly to them, such as in Romans 8 where they view Jehovah as 'Abba', and thus reach the conclusion that they were anointed in the sense that the organisation views it. I always wondered how the anointed knew but it wasn't something you could just ask a so-called 'anointed' one. One day I decided to ask one of the partakers I knew from a neighbouring congregation when in line at the airport heading to the international convention in 2015. Instead of being happy to be asked, the individual was very uncomfortable with the question so I didn't pursue it. So, in answer to your question, I don't imagine many of them would be deliberately lying. It's more likely that they are influenced by the organisation's 'take' on being anointed. When leaving the organisation in 2015, the big question in my mind was ..... 'Who are Christ's brothers?' I knew that the Governing Body could not be Christ's brothers once I learned about the protection of pedophiles, so who were Christ's brothers? I knew that Jesus would judge me on the basis of how I treated Christ's brothers, as Matthew 25 explains, so it was an important question. I went to the bible and looked up all the verses about 'Christ's brothers' and was so thrilled when it became clear to me that ALL those who follow Christ (rather than men) are Christ's brothers. It was also uplifting to learn that the word for 'brothers' used in the scriptures (adelphoi) actually has the meaning of being in the same family and thus the more accurate rendering of the word is 'brothers and sisters'! Being a woman myself, it was a real surprise to find that Jesus' words in MATT 25 relate to women as well as men. www.billmounce.com/greek-dictionary/adelphos How wonderful it was to discover that we can be a brother or sister of Christ by allowing the holy spirit to guide us rather than an organisation! I pray that I can make a video like this one some day. My wife is a semi-born-in JW, and I've never been a JW. I was an ignorant Christian when we got married, and I thought in my own innocent mind that I could change her, without really understanding how brainwashed the JWs are. Fast forward 30 years of marriage, I am experiencing the same things your dad was going thru. My wife told me that she knew I wouldn't be in "the new system" and she's come to grips with that. I have never told her that she is going to hell, but she's told me that I won't make it to the "new system", whatever in hell that is; pun intended. I just try to remain patient, and force the truth, or the REAL TRUTH IN CHRIST on her. I fell like she's still in it because to admit that she's been duped for all these years would be devastating to her life. I just hope she wakes up before she wastes her whole life serving a man-made organization.
How delightful. Sheryl I was 'out' for years, living without God. What a desert it was though I didn't know it. I'm eighty now, have been a Christian for one year and two months and it took me untold hours watching exJW sites to learn how I was indoctrinated by the governing body. I now call it 'grooming' and pray that many others escape. I study hours everyday and pray for guidance and my life is happy, my heart is full. I agree with your mom regarding Jehovah being supreme. I left catholic church because they couldn't prove it to become a JW. Jesus not being our mediator was a shock to me too. I think many JW are not aware he is not our mediator.
All organisations have a culture. It's members aim to keep it alive. The larger it gets the more it assumes control because the more it has to lose. Large organisation believe they are right because they appear successful.

They were really trying very hard to be nice. not naturally nice. I’me 64 , and I wish she was my Mum. It’s easy to see how such a lively woman, bright & alert, could conduct so many bible studies and bring 30 into what she believed to be “ the truth” . Now she has absolutely no reason to admonish herself as she did everything believing she was saving lives. Now, along with her daughter she is publishing here that she is “ Awoke” ( pun intended) & may she do so for many years to come whilst enjoying the rest of her retirement.

I got baptised in Dec 1975 and endured getting kicked out of my home and love bombed by witnesses. That cemented me into the cult for 41 years. I've seen so many abuses that I've dismissed as just "imperfection". One thing elders have perfected is the ability to to be duplicious. Then i started to look to the early Church Fathers that was important how Christianity was formed and how the Bible was formed. That brought me to the Catholic Church. It is there for nearly 2000 years. Without the Holy spirit that would be impossible. They Church kept the Bible. But the truth important thing is that we belief Jesus died for our sins. God bless. Mad Hatter I think it means own your own life, be true to yourself if something doesn’t seem right to you question it. I was a Jehovah Witness back in the late 80s after awhile I started to question their way of thinking, grown adults sitting around listening to other grown adults tell them how to live every aspect of their lives, whether to go to college, what to do for a living, when to get married, whether or not to have children. After awhile I said to myself enough was enough I left and never looked back.
2016 convention was the last convention i attended it was at that convention that i was questioning a video they showed Jesus on the “stake”and it looked like a cross and nobody seemed to care and i was afraid to mention it because i didn’t want anyone thinking i was being negative also i left feeling guilty because i was suffering from severe depression and they showed a video with the girl having negative thoughts and how she was disappointing jehovah with her negative thoughts ...

The Watchtower is an addendum NOT a Bible people. Wake up and Read >> Deuteronomy 4:2 (KJV) Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. Read a chapter in Revelation with consequences of adding and the Plagues... Think the Locusts in Kenya and the Coronavirus in China.
All that matters is what we do when no one is waching.... that's who we really are. Get of the hate train and show love and compassion. I was raised in the truth and went down that road it leads to frustration and confusion. I have not seen my family in 30 years and I still believe in the bible. God bless you all.
Both of you are probably already aware that all of the translations have a minor bias or two which can make a huge difference if things arent thoroughly researched, none are exempt, but most are worthy of reading. (except the NWT, its in a league of its own) Why I mentioned this is because I've noticed that it seems to be done to support the same dogma. Either its immortality of the soul, hellfire, trinity or the pre-existence of Christ. I find that fascinating.
This is just so wonderful. I left before the Proclaimers book was published. Anything I had come across as l loved hanging out in the KH library, because back then you could access all the old literature and we had plenty of "old timers" to compare notes with, it was all explained as "look how far we've come with NEW LIGHT." I believe it takes putting the puzzle pieces together in order to unravel the sweater of deception the Watchtower has knit.
I remember reading something out of the live forever book to my Grandmother or maybe it was my book of bible stories. I was trying to Wittness to her by reading from the book. She was driving the car and she turned to me and said , that sounds ridiculous ! I think I was reading about how we inherited sin from Adam and Eve. You all remember the dented bread pan theory right?😄 like we are so cookie cutter it's a wonder we all don't look the same or have the same personalities. It was a horrible explanation. I never really gave serious thought to how strange it was. I could only picture the dented pan in my mind.
I read that Bible verse that tells you you need to partake of Jesus blood and his flesh to get everlasting life could you tell me where that sat please and is there any other scriptures that say the same thing Truly enjoyed you visiting with your mom with your dad present I was able to hear your conversations I could almost hear your dad your other device I cannot listen to your videos on there not loud enough
It really be helpful if you had a second verse to that scripture where it says that you should partake to get everlasting life . what I wanna do is go to the kingdom hall on memorial and partake and then if they start talking to me I’m gonna tell I’m going to do a little prophesying and that in less than five years over half the kingdom halls in the US will be sold you’ll be sitting at home going from watching Jeopardy then you’ll turn on the Internet and watch your TV meetings at home and have no need for your expensive To drive to the Kingdom Hall for meetings anymore cause this world is such a bad place to live!!!

The Bible clearly states that before humans appeared on the earth only Jehovah's family of witnesses existed in the universe. The first witness to leave the family was the angel who became "Satan" the first apostate. Today either one is serving Jehovah or the adversary Satan. There is no sitting on the fence.

It was 2017 Convention as it was last one I went to! It made me research 1975 as knew something big had gone down my aunt stopped taking mags! When I saw GB teaching end from platforms at Conv couldn't believe it! I was in 40 years escaped a couple of times but always returned. My daughter told me bible being rewritten those in world knew but not affected NWT! This girl an atheist 5 years ago was mentioning this I checked it out in my old KJV. I told elders none would look at my possessed bible! On electronic version on JW.org! I told to throw out bible but said I couldn't throw out my tablet! This girl told me about a new Bible Truth that made her a believer. Couldn't look at it for 6 months because of Cognitive dissonance! But Flat Earth woke me up. I was too indoctrinated to watch videos dissing the GB. Now I see they are just like Religious leaders of Jesus day. They were practicing true Religion but fleecing their flocks. God had Temple destroyed and Jews wandered world for 2000 years. Early Christians were Jews that Jesus called out to follow Him. It meant their lives when Jerusalem destroyed. Those Bunker videos.....yea they portray Law Enforcement and Military as their enemies who are gonna kill them yet they hire Law Enforcement Officers at 35 bucks an hr here in Texas for Security and Traffic Control at the memorial.
Hey Mum don't cry. We were just terrified children. I remember when the Paradise book came out. All us kids in the congregation just got scared out of our wits and would never have dreamed of moving out of our "ark". Our whole lives were geared by terror of not making it through 1975. 11 teenagers pioneering from 15 yrs old in my congregation leading into the late 1960's and early 70's. From 1975 on the whole congregation was in shock. Lives just totally wrecked. Houses sold and money sent to Bethel. My dearest friends lost everything.
