Dear Jehovah's Witnesses: Who did Jesus shun? 

Good day ladies, very well done👌 I tried to be a shunner but was not good at it. I started to wake up when I was counseled for talking to my disfellowshipped daughters. I explain to the elders that I had a clear conscience and that my decision was between Jehovah and I. I realize now that was the beginning of my waking up. I was in the organization for 20 years, I left 19 years ago and I’m sad to say that I was physically out but mentally in, for many years to follow. It is videos like yours that helped me mentally WAKE UP✨ I am happy to say I have a great relationship with my daughters today. I am shunned to this day by my son who is still in the organization. I miss him every day and my heart aches to be united with him again💔 I have lost so much because of the organization. NEVER SHUNN 🙏

It's abhorrent and unnatural that the watchtower expects people to shun their children. It's absolutely ungodly.

Once, when a JW at my disfellowshipped mother's door discovered that Mom was df'd, the witnesses said, on her way down the stairs, "I'm not allowed to speak to you!!!" to which my mother replied, "Yes, but I'm allowed to speak to you!" What delightful freedom we have. As a nurse, I took care of many witnesses, and knew that their rules allowed them to speak to me under those circumstances, so I took full advantage of expressing my (now) Christian heart, and took kind care of them. It was a pleasure.

Thank you two so much for sharing your story and experiences. Ali, your mother is a beautiful person a real lover of our Creator at heart, it shines through both her and you. I was an elder for 20 some years and woke up when my shelf collapsed. My wife left with me. We disassociated ourselves in December of 2015. Now entering our 60s with no children but we are freed from the enslavement to the tower and we have each other. God Bless you both.

you are both wonderful. In France and in Europe there are more and more activists. The followers are waking up more and more. There are more and more broken families. This chain reaction is accelerating. The WT has lived in recent years and each passing year is one year less for the WT. I love you with unconditional love. Bonjour de France.

I was disfellowshipped and moving to another state over 600 miles from home for a job. My car broke down half way there. I had AAA gold member so they would tow me 200 miles but i had 100 to pay for. A total of 200. I had 50.00. I called all my friends and family but couldn't reach my mom. The tow truck driver was scared for me because AAA said he couldn't tow without being paid upfront for excess. It was getting dark and as a black woman he said we have to get you outta of here. I called the elders and he said he would call me back. He did call back to tell me the body of elders came to conclusions that they could not help me because I was disfellowshipped. Thank God my mom called me back. This was before everyone had cell phones. My mom had to take the bus to US and deposit money in my bank. Thankfully, the man drove me the 300 miles. Told me to mail it to him. Which I did. He was a true Christian. He said his family learned him to treat people how he would want to be treated. He said he had daughter's and would hope that someone would do same for his daughters. This stranger was more of a Christian than anyone in the kingdom hall. He went against company policy because he had compassion. The elders had no compassion and they stuck by the Watchers shunning policy with no regard to my safety.

Jesus gave parables about Samaritans because the Jews shunned the Samaritans. That is why the Apostles were shocked that Jesus was speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well. They were used to shunning them. Samaritans were Gentiles that moved in to the land and adopted the jewish faith but were not allowed to worship at the temple so they had to worship somewhere else and so they worshipped in the mountain Moses worshipped in. Like Jesus told the woman at the well- she was wrong, and the temple was where God told His people to worship but it doesnt matter where you worship anymore because the time has come where God is looking for those who worship Him in spirit and truth, not in a temple or a mountain specifically. That's what we are all doing now👍

I remember watching not long ago(they're all available on RU-vid) a JW film from one of their annual get-togethers in which a teenage girl - like most teenagers - was pushing to go her own way and was eventually humiliated in front of everyone at a Kingdom Hall and effectively 'cast out'. In the next shot the girl, in tears, is standing in the rain calling her parents and her mother, seeing it's her daughter's number, shakes her head slightly and cuts off the call! Now I've never been a JW, but I've been a parent of a difficult teenager and I would no more have shunned him than beaten my head against a brick wall! I'm old now and he's middle aged and he cares for his father and me with endless, selfless love - as he does his own two children. How does any self-respecting JW parent truly imagine they can EVER have a close and loving relationship with a child they have at some point in their life rejected? Jesus didn't shun him and neither did we ... and he's never been bullied into conforming with a life WE'VE chosen, in order to win back our love! It's like I said before - what gives these people the right to call themselves God's chosen people when they behave the way they do? And dear Ali and dear Ali's mum, you are both a very bright light shining in a thoroughly naughty Jehovah's Witness world!

I'm so glad you had a chance to rekindle your friendship with a few people. I think of how so many people suffered alone, and never had the chance to see that there are alot of people that understand, and that don't agree with this treatment. The relationship between you and your mom is so beautiful.

Unbaptized JW here.....dropped out very recently. I talked to the head Elder about shunning and how it isn’t in scripture. Of course he quoted various verses. I responded that we must follow the law of the Christ. Jesus didn’t shun and won’t shun in my opinion. I then quoted John 13:34 which states, love everyone as I have loved you. That verse to me says it all. We talked about many other things as well. I will sum it up this way. His final plea to me was that if I was not able to follow the Governing Body I can NOT be a JW. I told him I couldn’t. Jesus is my salvation, not man. He left.

Disgusting controlling behaviour! You are a lovely mother and daughter ! Stay close to the true God and his loving son Christ Jesus .

What kind of person, Jehovah's witness or not would deny giving a person on crutches a ride home. I was disgusted when I heard that. I was associated as with jw's as an unbaptized publisher in the early 90's. I'm glad I didn't go all the way. Where's unconditional love...??

This is so mind blowing, tears are running. Ali you’re an angel and make huge differences to your lovely mother and people all around the world. I’ve been married to a dedicated jw for twelve years, but I didn’t succeed to wake her up. I still hope she will, because she is a lovely human being, but of course deceived. Shame on WT making such a harm. Really hope it will be a grand exodus from WT very soon.

Older jws that have so much experience in the org must be hanging on not for the reasons why they became jws in the first place if they converted, but to save face. They're holding on to hope beyond hope...

Many JWs do not realize that the Gov Body condemned the Catholic church up to 1950 for shunning - then, they began the practice! Satan is the greatest apostate of God that ever lived! But was still granted access to the heavens. Jesus still spoke with him. Jesus condemned the religious leaders, but still had conversations with them. Jesus rebuked the tax collector's, but still ate with them. "Keep admonishing the weak" says 1 Thess. The Gov Body response to that scripture? SHUN THEM - as of the 2016 convention. If the financial lawsuits don't crumble the WT first, they very well may end up shunning each other into oblivion!

I love your mom so much already! What a blessing you have in her love and loyalty! I lost my mom June 2019. She was a faithful witness but she never stopped loving me and talking to me, but I know she felt terrified for me and she felt guilty for still having a relationship with me.

Shunning goes against the humanity grain of love.

There’s so many painful memories and I’m still trying to process my fully waking up since last year even though Ive been out for so long. I too stayed away from people when told to do so, but couldn't help but to flash out a huge smile when I would see anyone that was disfellowship around town. (I left in 1981 because of the disfellowshipping practice and just the overall unsettling feeling of it all - was 18 then and 57 now). Carry on and know that your videos and messages are powerful.

I'm Lutheran and have decided to figure out my JW neighbors. I have a very close friend who left her JW behind her 20 years ago. We were shopping and she saw her parents in the store. Her parents looked right at her, turned around and went the other way. Broke my heart to see my friend go through this. Expect for a few close friends she has no one. Very sad

In Jesus' letters to the 7 churches of the book of Revelation (chap 2 and 3), He dealt with every possible kind of sin -- adultery, fornication, idolatry, hypocrisy, lack of love and etc -- taking place in those churches, and guess what, He never commands anyone to be disfellowshipped and shunned, but calls all the practitioners of such sins to REPENTANCE.

We were in The Cult for 30 years & not in the “fringes” My husband was an elder for 27yrs gave talks at Conventions, was a congregation CoB in two, member of the liaison committee for years, Convention overseer, worked in inspecting Hotels & negotiating prices for Convention Stay & worked in the building committee. When we stopped going to meetings (because we woke up three years ago) friends never called to ask what happened. The only person we told was an elder friend of ours, so I guess the word got out .And yes, we too are shunned the same way we sadly shunned others. At first it broke my heart but I’ve gotten over it as far as friends are concern. My son “partially” shuns us but hopefully one day he too will see the light.

Thank you sisters for putting this conversation out here. This is a true perspective of the "disfellowshipping" behavior, not the corporate WT disinformation of families freely interacting with the exception of spiritual conversations. Being raised as a JW, I grew to doubt the strength of a "belief" if it was necessary to eliminate it's challengers.

I work for a big cooperation and we have sort of strict guidelines. One it’s that we are not “allowed to actively excluding someone from normal workplace conversations and making someone feel unwelcome.” I called it, not to shun anyone. As a so called worldly cooperation they realized that this is not right and and employees are not allowed to shun, as it were. JW’ are called “Christians” yet they teach, practice and encourage shunning. Something wrong with that picture....isn’t it?!

Ali, Sheryl, it's such a pleasure to see you again. Sheryl, you're a highly respectable lady, a loving mother, and humble enough to publicly admit having been in error for decades. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless and lead you both along with the man in your family and kindly remember you in His kingdom. Yes, shunning is unscriptural, blown out of all proportions by the Watchtower to control its members.

It gets much better as time goes by; have been an ‘apostate’ since 1991 and realize now just how destructive this cult has been in people’s lives. I was JW for 15 y. I was investigating, wanting to be perfect teacher faithfull to Bible and the Watchtower. What I discovered in every field I researched made me sick. I couldn't trust them any more becouse of teachings. Good luck for every truth searcher.

When I realized they were against Christ when their teaching about non Partaking on memorial. Nothing is worst than shutting up the Kingdom of God. I personally wanted nothing to do with the Watchtower or their publications. Gave all my bound volume away. Keep the lies away from me. I asked myself what Jehovah, Jesus, and Holy Spirit expect from me.

"Love your neighbor as yourself." The elder gave the lady on crutches 'the Ride' .. TO ..in essence was promise of 'Ride' home. He should have taken her home REGARDLESS ..and lacking strength of character to do just that ..to have insisted on calling and paying for her Taxi.

Jesus never shunned, however he did lambast the Pharisees who held to an unyielding and unreasonable enforcement of the Law Covenant. Just as the post Russell WT Society hierarchy has added a gradually increasing layer of religiosity, rules, policies and fanaticism to the original gospel message. Throughout the decades a group of old White American men who reluctantly admit that they’re neither inspired of infallible and yet demand loyalty to their policies falsely claiming that they represent Yahweh & the Christ. 😖

And before that I shunned others, but after my own experience I understood, that it must not be true, that people who are shunned are necessarily bad and hard-hearted people, but just people who need help. I am a Christian. For the last few years my husband has been studying with the JWs and has really embraced their brain washing. It breaks my heart to see him believe in this garbage. His mom is the person who has manipulated this into her children's heads for years. Seeing your beautiful momma wake up gives me hope that she will someday wake up as well as her children. Thank you so much. The help I get in this Shunning problem of being put aside--comes frorm the psychological level on the topioc of Narcissism. You see, my kids who were disfellowshipped WITH me, have also disfellowshipped me, so I have no contact with my grandchildren. I've stayed close to Jehovah, and the Path is a Path, not a destination. Yes, the Governing Body is a Corpoation.

What a beautiful testimony. I had two Jehovah's witnesses come to my door. I was telling the younger man that it is more important to obey God than man. The elderly man was livid when he agreed with me. Shunning is terrible. Some JWS lie because my friend's sister is a JW and she goes to her house all the time.

You have a beautiful Mom, Ali, and I'm so proud of her and her progress. "For such freedom Christ set us free" (Gal. 5:1).

I did not shun when I was a witness. I recall 1 pioneer sister who committed adulatory with a brother within our congregation and was disfellowshiped for over a year. I smiled at her, at EVERY MEETING. I was happy to see her. She did return and was reinstated. Her comments to me were everyone cut her off and was not kind to her. She looked forward to "my bright smile in a room filled with darkness" her own words. That kindness helped her through. I never shunned.

"However, if you had understood what this means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice', you would not have condemned the guiltless ones." (Matthew 12:7). The Lord Jesus Christ YES rejected people ... but He did not indiscriminately; neither will he do it capriciously in the future, but with the support of the Holy Scriptures. (Matthew 7:21-23; Matthew 10:32-39; Matthew 23:13-39; Matthew 25:41-46; Mark 7:6-8). It is clear that the Holy Bible provides the basis for advice and discipline to be administered to the sheep of the Lord Jesus Christ, with the only loving purpose of rescuing their souls for eternal life; never to discourage anyone, or treat a wayward person as if he were a cursed person. (Acts 20:28; 1Peter 5:2-4; James 5:13-15; Jude 22, 23). The only judge who holds in His hands our life and our death ... is the Lord Jesus Christ...; that is the holy will of Jehovah God. (Isaiah 11:1-5; Acts 10:42, 43; 2Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 1:5, 17, 18; Revelation 20:11-15). No human being, nor any religious organization has, nor will ever have the authority to determine the life or death of any person. (Psalm 130:3; Proverbs 20:9; Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; 1John 1:8).

I was in 50 years also..and have the same thoughts about the shunning..and of course all the other problems in the org..one sister refused to serve me in a shop so I reported her to head office..how dare she!!

When I was dfd during 80's they weren't as gungho on shunning ones. It's only been lately that it's gotten worse, I never shunned others either. But my sister was shunned by an elder when she went to the hall after he found out her status. Crazy huh. It's so inhuman to treat anyone in that way, don't you think?

Hello just to say great videos! Love to see your mum experiences and opinions. I'm not disfellowship, I faded and the smiles and hellos and goodbyes disappeared. Every time I see a witness that I know I say hello to them and ask them for their families...They look scared of me. So sad they can't act natural.

What did Jesus do when the crowd was going to stone a woman for adultery. He said let the first one without sin cast the first stone...(Oh! They took that story out of their gray Bible.)

I never could go along with shunning. I’m so glad that after learning about watchtower I never.I can always tell when jw are fighting their own Conscience.

In many cases not shunning your children when they are disfellowshipped means their life. Growing up in the truth it was so traumatic to be disfellowshipped and then shunned. Thank goodness for me, a few of my family was there for me. For an organization that preaches they closely follow Jesus they sure are bad at following Christ's actions. So many of my friends that left couldnt handle the shunning and took their lives. Now out for 8 years I have grown to realize what I grew up in. Not a loving organization like I thought, but a judgemental and toxic group of lovers of men. I pity my family that is in. They are missing out on a beautiful person that misses them.

This sort of mind control is so diabolical that words escape me. My mother & brother shunned me for almost 25 years because someone at work gave me a deck of tarot cards and I kept them for a couple months because of their artistry, me being artistic all my life I found them beautifully done. Anyway, after messing with my heart, my emotional world, my trust and abandonment issues that this caused, she called me after 23+ years and we talked for a year until I wrote condolences on her brother's funeral site wall and said that he is now with his mother and brother. My mother asked two sisters if this was apostasy and they said yes and so she shunned me again without telling me, just would not take my calls. So, in short, this effd up my entire family dynamic for life, I no longer have a bond with my mother and very little with my brother, she is now ailing in her old age and her and I cannot connect. I curse these men for the multitude of damage they have done in the name of God all these years. He is not guilty and I urge people to not turn from Him, these people (WBTS) will "share with her in her sins" when Jesus destroys all of Babylon the Great.
