Film sticking... One of you mentioned baby powder, I didnt have any around the shop but it got me thinking differently, so I grab my silicone spray and apply a very light mist to the screen before placing it on the exposure unit and wahala films dont stick, and are in perfect shape, and the screen washes right out. I love this community.

I think my first reaction was don't pull front to back, rather change directions and pull side to side. Especially on such a small print area. Start high presure, let up towards the middle, then apply heavy at the end.

Hey Cam, not sure if I missed or not but you also need either High Density Ink or high density additives so when printed it holds nice clean edges reason for 80 mesh being used. At least a 400 micron capillary film it will make you life much easier. If you want liquitld emulsion like you said 20 time is just right You also need to push around 2 floods so your ink is at the edge of the stencil Print flash print and continue to your desired thickness High density is definitely an art and when learning the process can get expensive as it is necessary to test alot until younger everything turned down. Good luck to everyone trying this it is rewarding one you get it down right.

Trotzdem This: coat once from the garment side, then 4-6 times from the squeegee side, let ist dry overnight. Then coat the garment side again once with low pressure. Repeat this until you‘re satisfied :) its a very consistent Method after figuring out how the coating on coat works. You avoid the air bubbles and you will be able to build up a coat up to 400 micron and Even higher... you will also need More Tension on your screens... then you can work with less Offset what helps a lot to get crisp edges. And try another ink, use a normal plastisol white with some viscosity buster and you will get an even print. As a squeege set i Would hardly recommend 55/75/55 sh. Works the Best. Keep up the Great work 👊🏼

I’ve been working with building high stencils at work & here’s some advice for you!: Do 1:1 regular coat, let dry, and then lay screen ink side down (substrate side up) & coat the screen with the screen LAYING DOWN after its completely dry. I know it sounds weird, but if you use masking tape to make a “border” around where the mesh meets the frame on all sides of the frame, put emulsion on the top strip of the tape & coat the screen from top to bottom onto another piece of masking tape on the opposite side of the frame. Dry again & keep repeating this process until you reached your desired thickness. Ink side of the screen doesn’t get coated again, just the outside (substrate) side does. Remove the tape after every coating process. You can coat more than just once too, bring the scoop coater (empty & laying down!!!) from the bottom piece of tape to the top & then from top to bottom again. This was really hard to describe, I can make a video of this method if you’d like. This method has worked for me for years & i just wanna pass it along!

Scree tension was mentioned in another comment, that makes sense to me as far as the edge of the print being thicker than the center. I wonder if using a wider squeegee might help disperse the pressure more evenly, also getting your off contact a little closer so you aren't stretching the mesh to much in the center. Black ink seems to be thinner than other inks, so maybe thickening it up just enough that you can get it to clear the mesh but it still holds onto itself might help with building up the ink. Mesh with smaller micron threads like a sefar 123 might help you to clear a thicker ink, maintain smaller details and at the same time leave the print with a smoother finish. Sometimes realy soft or hard squeegees seam to work opposite of what intuition tells us, same with pressure. Great videos man, thanks.

You can save emulsion by coating only part of the screen your going to use. We did that for big screens with small artwork. For high density we use 80 mesh or even 110 with looser screens for high density, 60 duro squeegees, and tilt the squeegee further down on the second and third pass. Getting the squeegee closer to horizontal as your hitting it than vertical (vertical being the blade hitting it directly downward and handle pointing directly up.) Also, we used thicker inks that flow less. It can be done with 110 for sure though. Keep at I bud I love your channel btw.
@unitedsilkscreen2697
@unitedsilkscreen2697 5 лет назад
I have had that same issue. I solved it by cooling the screen after drying. I use a drying cabinet. If they are too hot it may stick to the stencil. Even if the room is too warm that could happen. Just a thought
@beenprinted
@beenprinted 5 лет назад
Total ink solutions makes a high density plastisol ink . Also maybe you could pull squeegee horizontal instead to get even pressure. Or do vertical with a much wider squeegee and only use pressure on the sides past imprint area. Just a thought. I have no clue . Thanks Cam!!!!

Very interesting video . I love seeing this videos . First of all , all my comments are not intended to insult or put down any work . Everyone does whatever technique they are available . High density is not new at all . It has been around for more then 10 years ago ; therefore , the correct technique to print and and burn an HD screen is with Capilar Film . It is expensive , but the work is expensive too , so the charges to the customer are still good to make a profit . It will be too long how to explain how to stick Capilar Film on the screen . The ink plays the second most important thing on the game . The ink has to be modified by tickeners and additives . I have printed a good 500 microns is how you measure the HD performance treatment . Again this video is great ; However , is behind on the process close to more then 10 years ago . Time is money . Greeting from NYC !

Hello Cam! If you're up to continue your quest for High Density Ink how about you try out a softer rubber for your squeegee? I think the one you used was very hard and sharp. Also I'd try something more crazy perhaps. Your rubber is from one side sharp but from the other round yes? Turn it from the round side and try again. Creating a space with emulsion between your mesh and the fabric in this it's the colour that basically stay on the fabric. So you had to let as more colour as possible with less prints that's why I propose this 2 ways. Keep up the good work!

Try to use a little heat below the screens, it will speed up the process and ensure proper drying, here we use a greenhouse to dry the screens, because for the working coat we can not wait a whole day to dry, we also use a purple emulsion, I don't know if you have access there, but the process we use to emulsify is the same as yours, congratulations on the videos, greetings from Brazil

Could the screen tension have more to do with the thickness of the print in the middle? My experience is that if the screen has a lower newton that the edge will be tight but the center sags and has less off contact. Just my thoughts.

Hello Print Life, first off I want to say this is an extremely informative video and I appreciate the work you are putting in. I had a quick question and I'm not sure if I missed it in the video but I wanted to know what is the thread count of the Mesh screen you used to achieve the HD screen print finish? I was looking around most forums are saying to use a 80-83 Mesh screen with a 70-71 Micron Thread. Also if you could point me in the right direction in order to find that specific Mesh screen +Micron Thread frame, I would super appreciate that! Hopefully this message reaches you! Again, Thank you for the video!

You should check for screen stencil film theres a bunch of different micron sizes... You put it on the screen and then apply the emulsion and what this make is to create a gap that will hold the ink to make the hd print without having to be coating 20 times the screen... Also use hd ink... And by flashing and printing it will be creating a sharp and high print... The more flash and print the higher it will be

hola Cam!
