The BR 01 1075 of the Stoom Stichting Nederland is riding again! For many of you it was not possible to experience this fantastic ride, but thanks to the kindness of the fantastic staff of the SSN, Cabview Holland was allowed to attach two cameras to the 1940 locomotive so that everyone can now experience the full ride. This is part three of the tour of September 18, 2021. The first ride can be seen here: • The power of steam! Fu... . The second ride here: • [5K] Steam Power! BR 0... . Hundreds of spotters lined the track, including a number of Cabview Holland Spotter VIPs, so you can watch the train steam past from the sidelines. We thank all the spotters who contributed to this film, you did a fantastic job! Of course we also thank all the staff of the SSN for the pleasant cooperation. Amazing how clean and tidy everything is in Germany and Holland. Wonderful restoration of a super locomotive resulting in a great video. Our Tornado did 106 mph in the UK a few months ago but that was a brand new steam loco.

Reminds me of when I was a child, we used to have a train station in our town ( now sadly closed by Dr Beeching ).The trains were steam engines back then, & every time the train pulled into the station the train used to suck me towards it, so learnt to stay well back from the edge of the platform. Beautiful video.

I'm really impressed on how clean and functional your rail lines & stations are, compared to the rail stations we have in the USA. I'm 74, and I grew up in Central Pennsylvania, so I can remember when many steam engines operated on our rails. I live in Harrisburg, PA near the longest stone arch railroad bridge in the world. I've taken my son to the Horseshoe Curve several times. Thank you for posting your excellent video.

Being German, having lived in the UK for a decade, the NL keep baffling me. How is this possible. The quality of life, cycling, public transport, house affordability, a liberal society... How have the Dutch managed to overcome all of this resistance, that is put in place mostly by the public in most countries, to achieve progress. I don't think people of a country realize this, but it really matters. I'm what would be considered a highly skilled person, and my choice of which country to move to would be based on these factors. Yes I earn high but guess what, I still want to cycle to work or take the train. Not because I can't afford it, but because I enjoy the activity and on the train I can read a book, on a clean, frequent and reliable train. This makes a country attractive for skilled migration. Other countries don't do this and in turn, they get low skill migration, which results in a net deficit on social systems, rather than a net contribution, which is the case with high income individuals. I really hope some day I can live in NL. Maybe some figures show there are richer countries higher GPD or other metrics, but money isn't everything. In my view, the NL is the most developed country in the world. The only perk of living in the UK is the insane density of historic steam activity... and it's very easy to get involved. Beautiful BR 01, awesome footage. One day I want to drive one of those beasts. That might never materialize. For the time being. I'm looking to volunteer for a UK railway.

Yeah, the States was a great railroad country as well until the car was invented. Europe luckily kept it´s railways in shape and modernized them over the years.

50er jaren van Venlo naar Duisburg met extra locomotief ervoor om heuvel aan de grens te kunnen nemen. Uit het raam hangen koste je een smerig shirt. Mooie tijd.

Wonderful video! I had forgotten about the 3 cylinder 01.10's, so it was a shock to hear this engine starting! I was in Germany and Austria for 2 weeks in 1970, saw some 01's, but don't remember any 3 cylinder 01's. My favorite engines were the 3 cylinder 044's, wish I had caught some 01-10's.

The 01-10s were at that time mostly in Northern Germany at the station of Rheine, while in the South the 2 cylinder version dominated (especially in Northern Bavaria) or already Diesel and electric trains.

Heb deze eeuw al heel wat keren tussen Rotterdam en Goes of Middelburg over deze lijn gereisd. Het gezichtspunt van de stoker langs de lange ketel of tussen de buffers is wel mooi gekozen. En dan die fluit, zo mooi. Bedankt voor deze mooie video.

'Avond Richard, En dan te bedenken dat men met de 01 slechts 15 km/u over het Luchtspoor mocht rijden, waarbij het naastgelegen spoor vrijgehouden moest worden van treinverkeer.. Dit wegens het tonmetergewicht van de 01. Stond in de aanschrijvingen die er toen nog uitgedeeld werden aan personeel van de trein en stations waar hij langs kwam: Berijdt hulpbaan Binnenrotte tussen km 45.500 en 48.450 met max snelheid 15 km/u. Nevenspoor vrijhouden van alle treinverkeer. Die laatste zin onderstreept! Hulpbaan Binnenrotte was de interne benaming voor het Luchtspoor.

It seems the locomotion is very well maintained. It is also perfect terrain for such a Pacific and 01^10 is one of the biggest and fastest (140km/h) built in Germany except some special edition like 61 and 05 which could make more. It is also familiar area as these machines used to ride along the Dutch border from the Ruhr area to the North Sea. So I would guess they came to the Netherlands even in the old days.

Du hast recht. Deutsche Dampflokomotiven überquerten die Grenze. Bis in die 1960er Jahre, als die Grenzabschnitte noch nicht elektrifiziert waren, kamen in den Niederlanden oft deutsche Dampfpferde, um Züge „abzuholen und abzuliefern“. Arnheim und Hengelo sahen regelmäßig die 01er und 03er. Die 38er und 24er überquerten unter anderem auch die Grenze nach Nijmegen. Auch die 18er, die den Rheingold Express zogen, überquerten die Grenze, fuhren jedoch nie weiter bis zur Endstation in den Niederlanden. Mit Ausnahme der Nahverkehrszüge natürlich. Außer in den 1940er Jahren, als die Welt sowieso anders aussah. Auch an kleineren Grenzübergängen [wie Winterswijk - Borken] waren bis zur Schließung deutsche Dampflokomotiven unterwegs, vermutlich waren es hier hauptsächlich Güterlokomotiven, da auf diesen Strecken kaum oder kein Personenverkehr zu verzeichnen war. Und (Bad) Nieuweschans, das mehr oder weniger an der Grenze liegt, hat noch einen schönen polygonalen Lokschuppen. Obwohl es jetzt für etwas anderes verwendet wird, ist es immer noch da... Aber auch niederländische Lokomotiven überquerten die Grenze. Salzbergen, Bentheim, Kranenburg, Emmerich, aber auch Goch und Wesel (über die NDBS-Linie) sahen regelmäßig niederländische Lokomotiven. Oft auch als Kilometerpauschale, damit entstandene Kosten miteinander verrechnet werden können. Ich denke, man kann mit Sicherheit sagen, aus welchem Land die Traktion für grenzüberschreitende Züge kam, war oft recht vage. Es ist schade, dass so wenige der niederländischen Lokomotiven überlebt haben und die wenigen, die es gibt, sind selten fahrbereit.

Prachtig! Het leeft. Sinister geluid van de stoomfluit. Het is wel hard werken op de bok. De werking van een gasmeter kan je vergelijken met de werking van de bakschuiven van de stoommachine.

Hallo Cabview Dutch Railway, ein super Video, finde es Klasse das es Heute noch Fan´s der Dampflok gibt. Und für deren Erhalt für die Nachwelt. Ich selbst habe noch Dampflok´s in echt gesehen, da die Züge in Nürnberg Hbf von E- auf Dampfloks oder Dieselloks umgespannt wurden. Und weiter Richtung Prag gefahren sind. vielen dank an die allen Trainspotter entlang der Strecke. Grüße aus Franken Kurze Frage: " wie werden die Dampfloks gedreht".

23:25 Does it happen regularly on this section that the high speed train 'Thalys' gets routed over the classic tracks instead of over the high speed tracks further to the left? 49:10 What does the indication "G" under the yellow 8 aspect mean?

1. No 2. G is an indication that the tunnel is clear. With a heavy goods train or underpowered train you do not want to stop in a tunnel for another train in front of you.

Just a suggestion: in the next recordings, put cameras taking shots of the wheelsets with the connecting rods and cylinders of the steam engine in action. It is also worth showing the work in the cabin. Anyway the video above is great. Thanks.

Very nicely shot video. This is one of the German Kriegslokomotive built in WO II? Did the Netherlands after the war receive some of these loks as war reparations? Making these run long distances must be a logistical nightmare, since there are no water towers or coal sheds at modern stations any more.

These locomotives were the first (BR 01, Series 01) standard types intended as a nationwide replacement for older types, and specifically for long-distance passenger trains and higher speeds. Built from 1925 onward, and in service well into the seventies, with the last line in eastern Bavaria. The Kriegsloks (war locomotives) were somewhat less sophisticated and easier to run and maintain.

Prachtige video weer! Erg opvallend hoe snel het echt donker wordt tegenwoordig. En als ik vragen mag, heb je wel een poging gedaan om het beeld lichter te krijgen? Wat ruis en wat details vind ik nog altijd 100x beter dan helemaal zwart. Er zit in mijn ervaring echt nog wel detail in dit soort donkere delen van een action-cam. Wat ik ook heel gaaf vind klinken is de stoomfluit, kippevel! :D maar zoals ik eerder aangaf, erg jammer dat hij dat in deze video wederom veel te weinig doet. Vooral in de middle-of-nowhere waar niemand er van kan genieten maar niet op de grote stations met veel mensen, erg jammer weer want de klank is geweldig!

Teveel fluiten = klachten uit de omgeving. Ik vond het wel erg sympathiek dat er in ieder geval gefloten werd daar waar de spotters stonden. Ja, meer detail zit er niet in de opname. Er staan geen lantaarnpalen langs het spoor en dan is het ook echt donker..

Stoomtrein? Het is eigenlijk een kolentrein. Een kolencentrale (die voor elektriciteit) noemen we ook niet een stoomcentrale, ook al wordt er wel stoom gebruikt. Dat laatste is bijzaak.

Het woord kolentrein was al vergeven aan een trein die kolen naar de stoomcentrale brengt.

Since the locomotive was built during World War 2 PZB Indusi is already built in with them then 1962-1974 ATB EG installed with PZB if Duisburg Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway was used to enter Netherlands or Venlo Mönchengladbach

That would require a heavier and more expensive cam, or a lot of cropping... At this moment this is the style. I could ask if they use a shorter loco next time ;-) Have you watched part 1 and 2 also? Would you care to see the the journey as one long clip?

Nee geen kilo, dat zou een hoofdletter K zijn. Het aantal te gebruiken leestekens in de titel is beperkt, en kpu scheelt een leesteken, terwijl iedereen net zo goed begrijpt wat er bedoeld wordt.
