Dear John, I recently purchased a second hand Lasernut U4 rig. The PO told me there was issues with the driveline and steering. I WRONGLY followed another youtuber's tutorial and basically turned my "new" car into a paper weight. After coming to my senses and finding your video the car is now absolutely perfect. I followed the binding video and this ESC cal. video. I then dialed in the steering limits and now the car has FULL throttle AND Brake range along with MAX steering in BOTH left and right.

Man! Just had bought my Losi Lasernut RTR and ran it once, started to do some mods (aesthetics) and after a month tried to run it with no luck, no response at all, read instructions of how to bind and adjust ESC but no luck until I watched this video, thank you!

I've been looking for awhile now. I just wanna know if the esc is stock with a 3.2. Cut off. And how to turn it on or off or change it.

Wondering if you could shed some light on a couple things for me with the firma 150a esc firmware.. As we know there are 2 thermal cutoff codes, one esc over temp, and one capacitor over temp /amp... How does the firmware deal with these situations when a code is set? Does the firmware activate brake or activate a coast/ neutral setting For Both scenarios?...

Thank you! This was very helpful! Only trouble I had was the throttle reversed on me and switching the switch on the controller didn't fix it. I had to swap wires on the motor to reverse it. Is there something I'm doing wrong? On the BLX 100 I was running the throttle reverse switch worked fine but not this smart ESC.

It should be set to normal, not reverse. If you are having to reverse the channel then It could be a esc setting has been changed (motor rotation in particular)

My kraton 6s has servo problems right out of the box, after running for awhile it starts to act wonky and has a bad delay, I ran it today just driving around and doing some wheelies, I don’t bash and do jumps, my kraton started to shut off and restart a bunch of times I also loss steering and and throttle was cutting out, should I calibrate them esc?

I have a new felony I am trying to bind a dx5c to. The bind works just fine, but when I tried running it it has no brakes and reverse. Attempted the calibration as you described here and I can only get the neutral step to work. When I attempt to set the throttle nothing happens. No lights on the esc. The receiver light it solid. The car is stock.

HI John, I have a Arrma Vorteks that i am trying to calibrate. I have done this method many times. For some reason when trying to do it now, it gives me the option to set neutral, than 2 beeps to set full throttle, than nothing for setting break/reverse. when I turn the car back on, i have steering and throttle, but no break/reverse Any ideas?

So my arrma fireteam 6s esc is acting up I tried all the RU-vid trouble shoots and non worked. All it does is start up and set but once throttle is applied it resets and goes through the settings again

How did my setup just go from it turning right when turning right on radio to now it turns left when turning right. And the dx3 switch was in the N position the whole time. Switching to the R fixes it but that makes no sense as it was working correctly. Any thoughts

I’m using smart G2 battery Dx3 remote and 130 amp spektrum esc. The battery level don’t show on the remote. The lights don’t light up. How do I get it to work?

Which battery is it? It could need an update (the battery itself) If you have a Smart G2 Charger or a Smart checker this can be done NOW, if you have a G1 charger we will have a update for the chargers soon that will update the pack to fix this bug.

What do you mean when you say "if it's a RTR it's already done at factory" are these one time use vehicles ? It's it done at factory. And I make repairs or change configuration it means vehicle is not configured to spec?

If you make changes you may need to recalibrate. Such as changing the transmitter brand. Otherwise there really is no need to recalibrate unless the calibration was messed up at some point.

I just bought an Arrma Vortek 3S and cannot figure out how to connect the transmitter to the receiver. When I power on the ESC while holding the set button, it starts to beep and blink a red light. Then I hold the bind button and hit the power button on the DX3 transmitter. It blinks a green light a couple times and then turns red and beeps two times as if it failed to connect. There is no response from the RC car via DX3. If I just power on the Vorteks, it will start up and then a fast blinking red led comes on and nothing will respond. Not sure if I was just unlucky and got a faulty RC, or if I am doing something wrong.

The set button on the ESC switch does not control receiver and transmitter connection. That is the bind button on the receiver, which is tucked away in a receiver box. It should have come bound and likely still is BUT now that you gave pressed that reset button you may need to go thru the ESC calibration again. So I would first open up the Receiver box to varify the receiver is bound (solid orange light on the receiver) once bound test the steering to see if we are getting signal, then go back thru the esc calibration if the esc still does not operate throttle. Hope that helps!

My new firma 160 amp 8s esc is skipping programming numbers. Supper annoying. Skips #9 timing setting . Goes from #8 punch setting, to #1 and skips #9 timing. Why?! Brake is also set to 100%...still won't stop well. This is in my infraction V2 now. Unsatisfied

Hi i am able to complete the end point calibration for the esc, but when i pull the throttle on the reciever the centre drive shaft is almost in a jerking / glitching motion, i.e not spinning fast, almost as if something is preventing it from spinning fast can you help me please.

Could be a few things... Loose motor wire connection, too tight of spur/pinion gear gap, or incorrect timing setting on esc.

My firma 160 on the kraton 8s is flashing red and has no throttle response, it says its in LVC mode but my batteries are charged. I try calibrating it but it wont let me set the neutral position, i followed every instruction i could find including all these videos.

Try resetting your transmitter, rebinding and calibrating AVC and then calibrate the ESC. Otherwise it might be a good idea to call in to our support line to get help over the phone.

Same just started today .. I plugged fresh 6s battery in it went up block and back and cut off with flashing red light now won’t run with any battery I try .. how do you take out of that mode and what triggered it ?

I’ve got a question if anyone else may have had this issue. I have the typhon 6s with all spektrum electronics except the steering servo. I run the car for a few minutes with no issues then the car stops no throttle no steering. My cooling fans are ramping up and down and on my dxc5 controller I see the power level fluctuations up and down. After a minute or so the car starts working again. And this keeps repeating ????

Hi Drew sounds like something is pulling down the ESCs BEC and is causing it to reboot. Do you have anything else hooked up to the model, such as lights or other accessories? How many fans do you have? What servo do you have installed?

So what if the red light doesn’t stay on after calibrating neutral. I’m having an issue we’re after I calibrate neutral I can’t calibrate forward or reverse. And my esc light goes out

Likely your trims and/or travel endpoints are off. Make sure throttle trim is centered when calibrating

Just bought a new 120 amp smart esc and it is stuck in LVC i believe. I get a red flashing light and two tone pulse from the motor. The motor is a stock traxxas brushless motor and the battery is new and fully charged. I am using a new DX5 Rugged w/SR515 receiver. I updated both the receiver and transmitter to the latest firmware. Any ideas? Are these not compatible with Traxxxas motors or something? I am having a problem configuring my smart esc firma 150. I have it bound with my spektrum 6ch rx, using a dx5c tx. When I hit the start button , holding down the set button, it goes into flashing program mode, I start the programming by hitting the set button in neutral ,stops flashing and does nothing. Cant get to the next step. Shut down and start over with the same results. The esc has been updated using the card, no problem. Changed my servo wires to check for breaks, no issue. I even ordered a new esc thinking it was flawed, no change. I got no ideas. I am not a nobb to electronics as I have quads and planes. I am missing something.... please help

You should not have to calibrate it out of the box. It is already setup for Spektrum. But from what I can tell it sounds like you might have the signal wire plugged in backwards. Make sure the gray signal wire is toward the label when plugging into the throttle port.

@@SpektrumRCvideos No. the receiver wire in correctly. On the esc, there is a black and red jumper wire with a male and female connector attached. Does the rx connector go to on of?those or directly to the esc? What is the other orange and black wire connect to? This should not be rocket science, I cannot get the smart esc to configure , it programmed ok.

@@budnanc509 I believe the wire you are referring to is the lead coming out of the fan port for programming the esc via the programmer box. Is the receiver bound and calibrated?

@@SpektrumRCvideos yes, they are bound... I check testing the steering servo. I have it connected to the red and black female plug. I have used a servo wire spitter, and connected the fan wire and rx to that with you change.

Is the receiver and transmitter bound? Normally that indicates the esc is not getting a signal I believe, which would suggest it is either unplugged or not getting a signal from the radio system.

Is there something in particular that you are looking for? Programming option wise, those do evolve overtime so their should have been a programming card with the esc (unless it was a RTR model then it would be in the manual for said model) ALSO for the latest info it is best to check out the product page for the ESC itself. There you will find updated specs/manual and firmware updates. Hope that helps!

@SpektrumRC in particular there are many issues that are not in favorable to U.S. paying customers I have a ton I'd your product with fail modes across the chart. .my dx3 started to Eradic throttle and steering output. Car took off in room. Breaking everything and injuring me. What causes a radio to send out such signals. Smart radio. Smart enough for your company profile but not Smart enough to know I can't command input what it receives.

Check your transmitter settings. Could be your throttle rate is turned down too low.

@@SpektrumRCvideos it’s all the way up, when I hit the bars button to put the receiver into bind mode it doesn’t light up or anything, it’s almost like there’s no power going from the ESC to the Reciever

So when calibrating I can get the first two steps, after that I can't calibrate reverse. On my firma 150 I have no brakes or reverse. Does anyone know the solution?

@@Ash-qx2qo I just did, or I did solve my problem. I re-binded my dx3 to my 100A with the 50/75/100% switch on top set to 50% (both by accident) and then the problems started. When you bind/re-bind the controller you have to have on 100% or it just won't work like it should. So I calibrated my dx3 as he says in this or one of the other 2 videos (st/avc doesn't matter/100% brake/centered the last two) and then re-binded it. After that your have to configuration it in a certain order; neutral > full throttle > full reverse > max right > Max left. Then it worked like it should!

Spektrum makes great radios. Even the RTR radios have an actual antenna inside unlike Traxxas radios that have the "antenna" right on the circuit board. Yup...that's why they suck for radio range distance.
