Many people have been saying Peter was weak or done dirty in Spider-Man 2, well here’s my thoughts. Peter did get tossed around and knocked out a lot more than Spider-Man 2018 I agree but in a way I believe insomniac was trying to give a struggling side of Peter we haven’t seen before. Both Spider-Men had their fair share of being beaten up by villains, but Peter has defeated the sinister six before along with countless others in the past which could have put a tole on his strength. Miles really shinned in the game and I believe insomniac wanted to make sure he was a call away in case Peter needs him. Let’s not forget Peter was OP with the black suit and still managed to make epic comebacks even without it. Peter was in fact nerfed but it might set up Spider-Man 3 in a way for him to come back even better. Both Spider-Men definitely deserve appreciation!
Peter wasn't wrong in anything he said during black suit phase. He was just more direct than he normally would. He never went off rails either or nearly beat his villains half to death. He wasn't even stronger in his black suit. I was waiting for him to completely just maul lizard because he was trying to save his friend but lizard was just in the way and wasting his time but it never happened. More time shouldve been spent with him in this phase but nah....let's pour resources into 5 mj mission but give venom only 1 lets also make Peter weak and pathetic where he is always getting saved.
Spider-Man PS4= Overrated Miles Morales= Too short but kind of underrated Spider-Man 2. Good moments but still overrated! Spider-Man shattered dimensions - Great Edge of time - Great Web of shadows - Excellent Spider-Man 2 Toby - Awesome Amazing Spider-Man 2 - The worst. But great suits. Amazing Spider-Man 1- Great Ultimate Spider-Man - Awesome Spider-Man 3 toby- Overrated. shattered dimensions, Edge of Time and web of shadows are irreplaceable! Way better than the new stories
While i do disagree with the video, i also agree with a lot of these points, but some of my gripes are 1: Not a lot of variety in enemy bases or crimes(hunters, cultists) Where in spiderman 1/MM, we had 4 different factions. 2: No podcast archive or character database. 3: The 3rd act with the symbiotes feels way rushed. 4: Feels shorter than the first game. 5: feels like theres a lack of side missions/fnsm requests, where in mm you get requests to for really basic stuff, like finding a lost cat, clearing a skyscraper, finding lost toys, really made you feal like a friendly neighborhood spiderman. 6: Lack of gadgets(also i feel like yhey couldve expanded on the abilities). 7: I like how MM approached abilities, basing them off of bars, and takedowns off of combos. 8: The events of MM feel kind of left out of this game.
I wouldn’t say disappointing but definitely underwhelming and overrated to an extent I agree with a lot of your points here they could’ve done better still a great game tho none the less

There are a whole lot of stuff that has no sense in this game narratively speaking that if the devs had thought a little more, people would have been more pleased with this for example... How did Yuri (Wraith) got like super strenght to jump and balance like Spider-Man? For example.. She could have stolen some Tinkerer's tech so that she could do what she does as Wraith The battle to free Peter from the symbiote... Miles could never beat him, that's just insane. Instead, we should've played as Peter and be almost killing Miles, then Peter "wakes up" and resists the alien to take it out The MJ missions... Horrible, scratch them. Instead, in the story we play as a Spider-Man and we "distract" the enemies while MJ gets the info we need. (Also reusing MJ's previous model) Miles vs the symbiotes while MJ gets the meteor, it wpul've been cooler if the symbiotes like super outnumber Miles and uncle Prowler reappears to save Miles and maybe get a new gadjet. Scratch the Hailey mission, we paid to be Spider-Man. Save the symbiote for a free roam dlc. I still have not thought of a different way to finish the story but Insomniac f*cked up killling the symbiote. Also scratch the cycling "mission" with Harry... That shoul've been a transition... And also the should have been a way that they had talked about what we as Peter in the previous game did with the environmemtal projects. Also... While using the symbiote, Insomniac could'vs recorded another two sets of voices of Peter being more agressive and even an @ss to his friends andrandom citizens, and even lock side missions in which we have to help random people like the guy the parrots, the blind lady and the mech dog, etc etc. Sorry my comment is this long but even though I liked this game, I feel... Not as pleased as when I played the first one and Miles Molares
I agree with mostly everything you say but The Peter Vs miles boss fight was one of the better parts of the game I don’t think they shoulda nearly beat each other to death but instead have you play as miles first than transition to Peter for the second phase then miles again for the third phase to help convey the idea Peter is also fighting to free himself instead of just beat Peter down and go into a meaningless QTE to get the Symbiote off because it didn’t feel as impact as other iterations.
Man you people are never satisfied, they announced they’ve been focusing solely on Venom in this game because it was their main inspiration. The Peter vs Miles fight, Miles didn’t win, he just talked down Peter to motivate himself to break free from the Symbiote. Yuri Watanabe’s story (Wraith) merely just begun in her appearance in this MS2 game, it’s almost positive she gets a DLC alongside Carnage so who knows what that’ll unveil. Even if it didn’t show Yuri came to he Wraith and her gadgets I don’t see the point where to complain and boast about it. It was already stated in MS Yuri was one of the most best cops and fighters due to her experience and ability. It’s not so hard to comprehend herself training as a vigilante and disappearing. You asked why she can jump and balance like Peter? She’s most likely highly agile and aerobic, I’m not sure what you mean honestly…the MJ missions are nothing new the devs knew we didn’t like playing as her so much so instead of 8x playing as her in MS they limited it to 3x which I think isn’t so bad. I don’t know why you’re hating on the Hailey mission she solely had 1, I thought it was nice they showed her perspective and potential in the story. I don’t think it deserved any negativity, you were just her for 15 mins or so. “Save the symbiote for a free roam DLC”? So you’re satisfied with the story and wanna turn it into a DLC instead? I don’t think I’m reading this correctly because that doesn’t make sense why save off the main point of character in the game which is Venom obviously.

If the game was not worth the money spent and the time the devs worked in it wasn’t enough then that sucks for you man. Most people like the game, some people like me have some problem with some type of story writing or gameplay but I don’t think it makes the game awful because of it. What doesn’t have flaws or problems in writing,nothings perfect man. And yes, I would love to play as Venom, I think we were Venom for such a short time and few abilities as him because it was a tease to the possible next game coming up. 0:14 I used to hate on the new face model too. But then I learned why they actually changed it. So, along with the voice, Yuri Lowenthal also does the facial capture for Peter Parker during filming, and having John Bubniak's face was a nightmare to animate as he didn't look at all like Yuri Lowenthal. This caused them to take much more time and resources into just animating his face which could've been spent implementing gameplay features or other content. They found Ben Jordan had a much closer resemblance of Yuri Lowenthal so this made it so much easier and quicker to animate. Like I said, I like the old face model much better too, but knowing that it was a nightmare to animate gives me more understanding and appreciation for it.

@@godzillazfriction Yes, there was an improved version of John bubniaks face in the files. But what you failed to mention was that it was just a single, static face model. It had absolutely no animations outside of it. You can put a face model in the game pretty easily especially with the resources they already had. My point in the original comment wasn’t that there was a face model ready to be given animations, it was that the face model was a nightmare to animate with Yuri Lownethal doing the facial capture.

While I enjoyed the game, there are Two things I didn’t like in this game : 1- the stealth was so gutted it became repetitive and not worthwhile. 2- no individual suit powers. The suit powers in Spiderman One gave a little option to make your Peter so much more special and personable than another player, but now everyone is the same. I don’t know. I like that aspect of making your Spiderman a bit more different.

Spiderman2: Abhorrence incarnated. The reason this game will do good is because "it spider-man" curiosity alone will do numbers! Story is crap 😢 writing is crapper😔 Seeing mj takedown enemies quicker than spider-man and miles put together kills the power fantasy on the spot! There is ENOUGH NON-SPIDERMAN GAMEPLAY to make a full game!? ...all of that and he Can't crawl on most interior geometry....he really needs a dedicated crawl modifier!! My mysterio challenge: getting a mission done crawling only without webzip??😂😂😂 I can deal with a lot of shit but, the fact we got all this non superhero game play (pander quotas) and spider-man can't navigate his own in-game geometry without having to reattach to a surface is flat disgusting 😢 Those neighborhoods areas look good tho👍 This is a Great game!...but only in the sense that its well developed for being spider-man game... CRAWLING and Swinging IS STILL UNDER DEVELOPED...over simplified??😢 I should be able traverse all geometry in game as base philosophy!? ..So I then can get creative with my approaches instead of being blocked by lack of transition animations resorting to webzip for everything🤨 Combat is surface level, at first glance arkham...a lot of nuance is absent!! Fights and brawls should expand to play out over blocks...ontop, on the side of buildings, inside and out...though it probably can't happen due the crawling being so fundamentally incomplete 😢 Webzip can't be used on the fly in motion due to the short activation distance? It needs to be doubled if not tripled...it's fantasy 😤 the bane of spider-man games! ! SIDE MISSIONS STILL suffer from canned sequences! Why can't these developers ever craft enough or make missions to have a randomized way to happen (even tho it might be the same) at least from a different perspective?? Stealth missions have better fluidity but STILL SUCK the same as before....HEY Insomniac..."CAN I PLAY AS SPIDER-MAN FOR AWHILE"!...a streamline mode that edits out this crap! ...Mary Jane has more play time than venom...let that sink in! 😢 Wingsuits are a plus but let's remind ourselves...it only exists bcuz design decisions make traversal a problem!? SWINGING, CRAWLING and FIGHTING should be their own mini game so to speak that makes the mundane values come together to fight monotony. ...that is Swinging, crawling and fighting should stand alone and be fun and ROBUST ENOUGH to carry themselves. when done correctly come together as an emergent playground!? --all elements should be fun.. SANDMAN boss was great RIGHT!?now delete all the QTE and see whats left? BOSSES ARE GOOD but fighting them 3 and 4x in a row is too much!🤨 can we advance the game design to make these fights with replayability in mind!? Lets consolidate all the mini game thus far instead of pick 2 and run it in the ground 😢 Things like if not keeping the city calm BOSSES escape back into the city for recapture??? I actually agree with most of the points here. Loved Spider-Man (2018) and Spider-Man MM (2020), just not SM2 as much. Kinda like the title says: "disappointed". There was great hype moments, but also some... Disbelief... My complaints: 1. MJ vs hunters I can understand; vs symbiotes? Solo? Not Really. Silver Sable was an interesting fight on SM1 (Ultimate difficulty.) So training kind of makes some sense? 2. Agree I barely cared about miles in SM2 he seemed so selfish whether it was his or his community's problem's. He doesn't contribute to NYC equally as a whole. And I enjoyed his last game story and mechanics better? He took responsibility of not only himself, but others. Respect. (Phin, Uncle Aaron, Roxxon, the Bridge, etc.) Peter pushed his personal life to the side to be SM. Same showed with miles in his game. But SM2. Miles personal life is Spider-Man (which he says in Story-Review) like he's nothing more than his communities protector. Which I believe isn't even resolved by the end. Did he even finish that resume? Guess Miguel Sacrifice speech didn't get through... oh wait wrong universe my bad. Point is whether it's his evolved suit or the character himself. The devs did Miles kinda dirty. Imagine if Miles was interested in F.E.A.S.T. than just "his community museum" or "his school" sure stopping crime? No problem. Making it you're personal business when it's not? Problem. But with F.E.A.S.T. Not only would you help Aunt May Legacy (help Peter), fix Martian Li's Mistakes (which is part of the story right?), and help those in need without a bias opinion on them. First off, you probably need to check your grammar. Secondly, it's really hard to understand what you are trying to say, but no. We want to play a Spider Man game to play as Spider-Man. You act as if Peter and Miles can't make a good story on their own, even though it was proven they can. It's fine to play as Peter, given Peter has reason to be Peter, but being Peter does not mean he HAS to bike, or HAS to do Bee-Drone Missions, or any of that stuff. Same goes for Miles. This game is meant to be Story Driven. The Gameplay should work well with a Story, but the Story falls short. They could have been written well if you only played Spider-Man, because Spider-Man is also about the people behind the masks. MJ is not Spider-Man. Spider-Man Web of Shadows, Edge of Time, and even Shattered Dimensions, And even Spider-Man 2018 has proven you can write good Spider-Man stories in games when you play just as Spider-Man. There was so much room and time for potential things to be added to the story and the world, and it was flushed down the toilet with how they decided to ignore the point of feeling like Spider-Man. They missed the mark, and it disappoints. That does not mean it's bad, but it does mean the devs really fucked up on this one.

I'm not trying to defend the game, i felt like the final boss is trash, i just think that everyone says that if you don't play as peter it's bad and not because of the gameplay but because he's not spider man. The story has flaws i know, but at least he could have said what are the flaws, because i feel like the symbiote beign shit to everyone feels un-natruel unlike spider man 3 (which was a trash movie, again i'm not defending anything, it's just done it way better).

People need to understand there is nothing wrong with playing on lower difficulties. So to diminish a game because you chose to play on a harder difficulty is unfair.
@originsbatnight they added a parrying system to already great combat. Idk what more you would want out of the combat, personally. Although I will say I agree with people who say the gadgets were better in the previous game.

I understand your complaints but they’re not nearly as substantial as they are for u. I didn’t like some of the pacing. Third act is rushed, venom etc. still a very solid game for me. Loved it
F*cking Story was crap. Save for the fun venom gameplay. Preachy Girlboss MJ and miles who i didnt care for. and kraven not doing any hunting and letting his goons do the work was pathetic.🙄😑 The only reason i play this game is for the open world swinging and gameplay. Plus the Tasm2 suit being my alltime favorite suit being in the game makes me want to continue playing regardless. Ill just skip most cutscenes. I dont want to do that but thats when you know they f*cked up. They also need to stop hiring stupid activist writters!
I thought the game was very good and disagreed with a lot of your points, but thank you for being the only one to criticize the ending. It was completely boring and only resulted in Norman being angry at the Spider-Men, but otherwise nothing really changes.
I didn't like this game at all. It feels as if they designed these stories for Miles to be the main character. At this point, kill Peter off. The idea of Peter Parker having a sidekick is something that I'm not a fan of. There can only be one of them. If they wanted a secondary super-hero then it should be Daredevil or Luke Cage rather than another Spider-Man. I hated MJ and Norman Osbourne but, ugly Mary Jane has to big of a role in this game and it brings the entire game down. If they wanted strong female lead so much then Black Cat should've taken that role. I'm not playing another Insomniac Spider-Man game. Yes the game itself is fine, the graphics the gameplay and etc, the but, the director's vision hurts the game to the point where I don't want to play it again and this is coming from a big Spider-Man fan. I've played flawed Spider-Man games that I enjoyed more. This one left a bad taste in my mouth.

The biggest Spider-Man 2 meatrider. It is nice to see you. As much as I love the game, it does feel like it's extra content, like side missions, and the Emily-May Foundation things could've been scrapped for more Spider-Manning. Why do I need to ride a bike for no other apparent reason in a Spider-Man game? Shouldn't I be swinging around and having fun? I should be going out on patrols, and stopping crimes instead of having DJ sessions and Political statements on our world that don't add anything new to Spider-Man. It instead could fit in any other game and you wouldn't bat an eye, but this is a Superhero Action title. It should be like Batman Arkham, where it focuses on Batman, and not some political thing that Bruce Wayne buys into. It's a story that fights morality, and is mature. It should only be about Peter and Miles, the best Spider-Bros, to be doing the work, while MJ could've been in the background for this game. The Last of Us is not a Spider-Man game, and it shouldn't be shoved onto a character like MJ. It would have been better if they had focused on the Symbiote arc, added more to Venom, and added more to Carnage and more story threads that end up being resolved, and focused away from the minigame sections that only took away from the gameplay experience. You may like that, but it's clear it does not fit. In a Spider-Man game, you want to play as Spider-Man, whether it be Peter, or Miles, or eventually Cindy. Those characters are the ones that refer to Spider-Man, and it's clear to see that they had given up on them to add more. They did not listen to criticisms, and that is why it ends up so flawed. It's that it was trying to be 60 games at once and there was no focus. It makes more sense for a Spider-Man game to have MJ as a side character, rather than spending an hour or two of this 16 hour game (the first one was 30 hours to beat main story, which is why she is there for 8 times, is because of the time difference) with her as the character. It leaves so much potential for more content, including more venom sections and more of a story that genuinely leaves you satisfied. It felt like characters were either done dirty, or underutilized (cough cough black cat cough cough), in a story about the Symbiote. We could've gotten a much better game, and that desire for the Ultimate Spider-Man game is why this game disappoints. It's an okay game that is enjoyable, but just because it's enjoyable does not mean objectively good, or if it's a 10/10. It's clear the devs wanted to add more things politically than focus on the story this time around, and that is why a lot of the fans are just not satisfied with the product. It's that it lacks so much that would elevate it to a higher level given the devs decided to focus on the Spider-Men and have it so that the game would be better for a player experience when a lot of people are buying this game for $600. And finally, for my last point, you are not going to be able to change people's minds, because you are probably going to drive yourself mad at the idea of someone having a negative opinion of this game, and constantly replying to them as if it will change any opinions. It really reflects who you are given how much you have went on a high-horse to defend this game that could've been so much more. For the devs that should've made the story themselves, and led the right direction towards Peter, Miles, and Spider-Man as a whole. They messed up, but it still is good. But it is so flawed, that it has led so many people to stop wanting to buy this game. I can't blame them. On my second playthrough, I got tired of it real quick. It's excitement, and nostalgia, and it's extremely manipulative, and we need better standards for games that should focus on story, rather than adding things that mean absolutely nothing in the long run. It's terrible to see that Insomniac has decided ESG is more important to them than succeeding without politics. Also, who the hell names their kid, Odyssey?
i don't understand your disappointments of this game. isn't it good, you can play M.J., like my bestie said, different ways to take enemies down, rather than always by Spider-Man ways, you can also do that by M.J.s ways. and what wrong with riding a bike? i really love it...

If you don't wanna play as anybody else but spider-man then this series and any other spider-man game isn't for you because he's not just spider-man he's Peter Parker as well if you want to play as just a superhero then how bout you break into the game designing business and make your own game where there's only a superhero but with no other life as normal person
