Why Spider-Man 2 PS5 Sucks 

I love Spider-Man more than anything, have over 100 hours in sm2 already and really enjoyed it. With that being said I’m not too stupid to say I agree with most things you said unfortunately. The game should’ve been better. Great vid

Anti-venom can heal people in the comics with just a touch. With that in mind, it’s kind of stupid how Peter isn’t just getting rid of Harry’s illness when it should be possible.

⁠We don’t see Kraven himself actually do much. He basically just sits around while his minions do all the actual hunting and capturing where he then kills the supervillains in a remote location of his choosing after studying them. Imagine how much cooler it would’ve been if Kraven purely just broke the villains out of prison and let them out into the streets of New York, basically making New York the jungle/hunting ground that him and his hunters then use to search for the villains over time and kill them with it being up to Peter and Miles to try to get to them first before Kraven does with there being some successes and some failures as we see Kraven himself actually hunt these villains down in New York with maybe a mission or two involving a chase where you and Kraven are chasing after a villain (like Vulture, or Electro, or Shocker) with one of you trying to get to him first as Kraven also tries to slow you down with enemies and destroying buildings and stuff. It basically allows Kraven to be much more involved than just showing up once in a while to do something, leave, then show up again later to do another thing or fight someone

Once i finished the main story all I could think of was “Man, I really want to play Spider-Man remastered right now.”

It's kind of strange because this game has so much going on but after the credits rolled I felt like I accomplished nothing. I am a huge Spidey fan and I do feel there is a masterpiece at the core of this game but there is so much fat and bs that needs to be trimmed for a more focused cohesive narrative. Venom was brilliant, the lizard chase was amazing, black suit and pissed off Peter was definitely fun but the game just felt like fast food and I really wanted a home cooked meal.

The most thing that I hate in the game is Peter. BRO HE CANT DO ANYTHING UNTIL MILES COMES HELP . HE CANT LIFT THE TROLLEY WHEN IN THE FIRST GAME HE LITERALLY LIFTED THE CRANE WITH WEBS . The game wont change if we just delete Peter from the game

I really enjoy the web-swinging. The combat has some upgrades, but the first game I felt more powerful. The story I totally agree with you. They had a lot of potencial to make a great story, but… Maybe the third one would be. Excellent video by the way

The symbiote invasion should’ve been saved for the carnage dlc or whatever they decide to do with carnage in the future. Venom should’ve been a more street level situation. Harry could’ve gone around just wrecking the city by taking out what was left of the Hunters and that naturally drags him and Peter into direct conflict. The symbiote could then start influencing Harry to go after MJ and Miles to hurt Peter.

Not sure why people are so mad about a different opinion, it’s refreshing to see how others perceive the game. I think saying it sucks is a bit harsh though but I definitely think a lot of aspect’s just felt like there wasn’t enough time put into them. I never felt like Peter wearing the suit got enough development to warrant making the player feel like Peter needs to remove it. Hell, Peter himself doesn’t even make the realization it was more Miles that ends up helping him get the suit off. I really feel like Peter should have chose to do that himself, maybe they could have had him hurt Miles and realize the suit is doing more harm than good.

100% agree man. Preordered, both. Platinumed both. Have loved Spider-Man since I was 5. I’ve had months of feeling like something was off. I unfortunately agree this game has a lot of issues.

My big complaint is after the vemon vs kraven fight. It felt like they made vemon evil for no reason and kraven's death was just forgot about really fast. Plus they threw in like 40 years of venom lore into an hour which felt really rushed.

what really pissed me off is that you can't replay the bases like first game and replay missions like in miles morales.

reasonable critique. I am happy someone spoke about repetitive gameplay, annoying missions with other characters, and peter looking odd (what happened to MJ💀💀) So far Miles is the best game in the series if you consider time:action ratio.

I think the push to be more 'cinematic' is why they keep focusing on non-spiderman stuff. In comics, side characters plotlines are given small cuts in between the action and their scenes are usually focused around the protagonist's perspective. In a game, cutscenes of side characters works but that translates poorly in gameplay since you have to actively put on the brakes and force the player to play the sections. Instead of making more content focused on the stars of the game, they tried to cram the others in to flesh out the story. Almost every non hero section could just be a cutscene and deliver the same feeling.

I just finished the game which made this video absolutely hilarious to me because its almost exactly what I was thinking the entire time. 6/10 but it only gets that extra point for being a spider-man game

I had to take a break because in one 3 hour session I ended up, becoming spider-cube, have miles’ model break apart in the music side mission, have Haileys model just straight up disappear except her hands and head, I fell through New York multiple times, and my game crashed. I recorded the whole thing and I may upload it someday

Great review, although I'm surprised you had so many glitches in your game. I myself only ever experienced one and that was at the end of the game where miles was a floating head LOL

Fantastic video as always. I've gotten 100% completion and man do I prefer the first game so much more. Playing SM2 felt like returning to a game I've already beaten plenty of times. Most people are fine with this, and you know I quickly got myself accustomed to being Spider-Man once more with his great controls as always no problem. I still enjoy fighting bad guys and swinging around the incredibly polished and detailed NYC. But I think what disappoints me the most is that it was more of the same in terms of the open world content, how missions are structured and feels like there was little to no innovation in what you do in the city. Maybe even done worse. Nothing bad by any means, just nothing special. They played it safe for sure. I could probably look past it if the story was incredible but I wasn't all that crazy about it. You pretty much covered it with how I felt. Very rushed, plagued with pacing issues, underdeveloped characters and some plot holes. I don't think I really cared about anyone in this story. While it has it's moments like when the city got infested with Symbiotes it made me all nostalgic for Web of Shadows, but upon thinking about it that came across as very last-minute. It came and went so fast and that was all Venom wanted to do? He just felt like your standard big evil villain of the week. I will say Kraven was my favorite villain even though I don't think it makes sense for him to have an army of a thousand highly trained goons that do everything for him rather than we getting to see him in action. He wouldn't operate like this. I really wanted more screen time with Kraven because the ideas they were adapting are something we've haven't seen in any Spidey film or game. Venom to me feels so overplayed at this point. I could say I liked Venom in everything I've seen him in from past media but writers always feel the need to add him in almost every adaptation because he's the most popular that by which they end up skipping so many classic eras and conflicts. Ignoring the awful face change, I did not enjoy Peter's character in this as before. Something about him just urks me. Maybe it's because he was kind of weak, constantly apologizing, and needed saving which I wouldn't mind but feel like they overdid it here. In terms of Peter's gameplay, I still do not like the gadgets along with the tech that he equips himself with. Actually I think it's worse here. I sorely missed some gadgets and even certain moves from the previous two games. When I put aside my problems with Spider-Man having too much technology, I did have fun mastering Peter's combat with his Iron Arms and all but by the third act I got pretty bored. He definitely took a downgrade and it doesn't help how much time is spent fighting waves of enemies. Call me old school but I'm always going to prefer Peter to be more grounded. You know what would have been a cool reward is another set of abilities that are completely web-based for Peter and can maybe be shared with Miles. I have four web-based abilities I thought of. First one think of Spider Barrage, but instead of using Iron Arms you use web fists and the last hit can cause a web explosion. Second is a strong web projectile. Like that one move in Shattered Dimensions where you hold square as Amazing Spidey except it can knock back/web up multiple enemies. Third would be similar to Symbiote Yank where you grab a bunch of enemies and the difference being you spin them around, knocking anyone in the way and then slam them all down at the end. And the last one I would just have it be the web dome from Spider-Man 2000/2002. What a missed opportunity. As you mentioned, there's still segments and menial stuff you have to do that doesn't involve Spider-Man. It just kills the pacing super hard and makes me dread when I have to do all of that again in NG+. I don't mind when this and other games put you in control of Peter when he's out of the suit as you can have character development and such. Except these out-of-suit segments were so uninteresting to play that I would've much rather watch a quick cutscene rather than spending 15 minutes or more walking around, looking for prompts to press triangle. Waste of development. I guess the atom/plant puzzles weren't the worst as they still kind of fit Peter. I'd be so down for other characters to be playable in Spider-Man games like Black Cat, Venom or Kraven where it would've been cool to hunt and kill the villains, but they instead come up with the most boring, mundane, non superhero things to do. The MJ levels annoy me the most. While they don't feel like they drag on like last time, they're still not fun and it looks ridiculous when they try to make her a badass. MJ in Web of Shadows was also like that except it didn't feel forced. It was a cool little moment when she stood up for herself and very awesome when she later came to help you with Symbiote Black Cat. Love her in that game. I really want to see a good version of MJ again and you know what, Insomniac do not do this character justice. Her and Peter have no chemistry whatsoever. She doesn't have the spunk or charisma like other adaptations and as such when I have to play as her, I don't want to. This is not the MJ I want to see. You can have a perspective of seeing the world in a non Spider-Man standpoint without taking control away from the main character. They did it well with Miles' game. I don't particularly care for Miles as a character but that game was straight-up Miles from beginning to end. It gets you to embody his normal/superhero life and still does a good job in getting you invested with his supporting cast.

Them getting rid of Eddie Brock entirely was a horrible move. He was an interesting character and his ascetic FIT Venoms dark tendencies. Harry is the Green Goblin Jr, I swear to God the writers were TRYING to piss fans off here. Also if they remove Peter, I'll be done with the games. No Spierman? No purchase from me. Be careful Insomniac. Go woke. Go broke.

I wish had more Peter Parker elements, like free roam. And it could work if the devs came up with something creative instead of giving us the same game over again. Like thinking of all the activities you can do in red dead, or simply stuff like buying items from a store, something you could do as Peter and use those items to craft items for your spider suit. Or go into a clothing shop for materials for a suit repair. Something like that

I had some bugs from time to time but never like what you’ve experienced so the gameplay was still pretty great, but I did miss that you can’t use focus whenever you want, no suit power ups and less gadgets. And I do agree that while Venom was good here, it was still rushed compared to how they handled Kraven. Definitely doesn’t suck like how you put it, but it wasn’t the best either so it gets an 7.5-8/10.

They should have kept Parker and Miles separate for the most part, let the cross over on a mission or two but other than that let them carry their own game. That way you don't have to worry about so many plot threads and characters that it gets bogged down like this.

Your review of it was great felt the same way while playing did you hear about how miles was gonna get the symbiote and they only used 10% of recorded tony Todd lines. I fear what insomniac will do to the wolverine game, if it’s just a walking movie simulator with occasional fights 🤢 hopefully will be on same level as x men origins wolverine game

I get harry not being much of a surprise being venom, but Eddie has not even appeared in the games before. He has had cameos through dialogue, but other than that Eddie randomly being in the game wouldn’t really make much sense.

Honestly I expected a bit more too, like why are car chases still quick time? It's been like that for years, even before this game, time to reinvent. I want to stop the car my way, as Spiderman, I want to web the tires, or send out a giant web net down the block and hope they don't turn, jump in front of it and pound the hood ...so many things. The we swinging still needs more improvement, although 0 assist was a decent direction. Stealth is still crap and Spiderman shines at that as well as direct combat (they actually took some cool gadgets away that made stealth a little more interactive) they at least made the AI a little smarter, not quite Arkham (as I hoped) but better. Overall a little more attention to detail and freedom would have been nice

As somebody who adored the first game this game disappointed me but I still found enjoyment.They removed gadgets almost entirely which was one of my favorite parts about the first game and while the abilities were cool I feel like if they were to add a gadget wheel the possibilities in combat would have been endless. The story was not as compelling as the first game and seemed rushed . If they were to spend more time with venom and give Harry a proper arc I feel like the story would have prevailed the first game in terms of story as the first half with kraven was compelling enough. Overall game was around a 8.2/10 which is good but I feel like it could have been so much more.

For me it feeles like a movie, not a game

My first playthrough of Jedi Survivor took me 40 HOURS and that games has no padding, no walking sections and is just pure gameplay with skippable cutscenes. What bothers me even more is that Spiderman might beat it for best action adventure game despite being inferior in every single way. Jedi Survivor has a really good mini games where you use enemy AI in a chess board like game, and it is OPTIONAL. That is a brutal score, it is a solid 7/10.

I've decided to pass on this one after watching gameplay of it. It seems to be heavily focused on the wingsuit, which I'm not opposed to but too much just takes away the element of swinging. The crime disappearing thing is something I know will stress my kid out because he loves it when crimes pop up.

Hey while I do disagree to some degree I overall respect your opinion! I really liked your review and critique as to why you didnt enjoy the game as much as I did or others. Another thing that is a big problem about the game is the glitches, they really got to fix those 😅

But then I realized he can't give the suit to him because it's permanently attached to his body but it could still heal hairy without leaving Peter's body

Sad we lost the character database and the gadgets we made in Spider-Man 1. We only see the web grenade in QTEs for stopping car chases. Worst thing Peter did here was not answering phone calls and getting angrier. And funny how Peter hates “gun clubs” but has a girlfriend with a suped up gun that can take out symbiotes and seasoned hunters. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 did a better Symbiote story in 2 hours while Insomniac had around 17 hours and botched it.

This is quite literally the first PS5 original game I bought. I am enjoying it so far but I completely agree with you on this. It's just an empty game as soon as you finish the main story. Not to mention, the story itself is severely hurt by insomniac's brilliant decision to make MJ (Mega Jaw) John Wick, and to significantly buff Miles while making Peter the most pathetic version ever.

Yeah I just recently started to play the remaster and despite my pc being weak and me being forced to play lower graphics for better quality this is better than what they did here honestly I have some better ideas on how they could have improved some issues that bothered me unfortunately i dunno where to express them in person or by voice messages,if only insomniac listened to fans rather than cutting off corners this game would have lived up to its name,yes they added a lot of cool stuff but considering how much they had to get rid off this is not worth it

Tbh, im just hoping people are working on some original content for spiderman remastered tbh. Modpacks w user created content from fans would be hella cool imo. Maybe the fans can get it right :,)

When you can lay the controller down and walk away from it while a single button and the joystick are taped down…..it’s a problem when Spider-Man can actually web sling the entire distance of the city….but people will eat this shit up while they listen to Spider-Man apologize to Scream, like 30 minutes straight for zero reason lol

I agree with almost everything said here, and between everyone I’ve talked to who played this game they got the platinum in 17 hours. This game was like mathematically crafted to do the least amount of things possible while seeming like it’s doing the most

In ng+ they left in the dev menu and they fucked up the amazing 2 suit and they also messed up the symbiote suit when putting it on and taking it off it now clips on every suit

I have to 100% agree with you here. The game was disappointing. - You'd expect from the 5 year wait for this game to be almost better in every way possible, especially in the story. But this game's story just feels rushed and the pacing is all over the place. Peter's arc ended way too soon, not to mentioned he was hella nerfed and not only in gameplay (cough cough, pinned down by a fridge for a solid 2-3 mins), Venom barely had any character or personality, even his goals are kinda weak. Kraven was certainly the best part of this story but should've seen more of him instead of half of it being off screen. Also him having minions hunting for him kinda defeats the whole point of him being a hunter. And to top it all off none of the story elements in this game come even close to the emotional rollercoaster that was with the Doc Ock fight or Aunt May's death. They didn't even kill off Harry in this game which just makes Norman's desires to be a villain and want revenge kinda stupid and misunderstood. (They did save him from this black goo monstrosity) and the cherry on top being Silk teased. Why do we need 3 spiders especially when they couldn't handle 2 spideys in one story properly. Overall very disappointing story that should've had a lot lot more time to build up all its plot points. Especially when you have a Web of Shadows style invasion. Instead we got MJ missions and pointless things like ridin bikes being doubled down instead of using all that time to flush out the story more. Sorry for the long wall of texts. I hold the first game near and dear to my heart and loved its story and its representation so so much. And to see the story be way inferior despite Insomniac raising the bar so high for their storytelling really made me upset. Overall not very excited for the "final chapter". 7/10

It's not uncommon for the desire to enjoy a game to overshadow objective analysis. If we scrutinize the details, considering repetitive missions, a rather generic combat system, a perceived downgrade in Spider-Man mechanics, an emphasis on flying over swinging, subpar mini-games, the absence of a new game plus feature, a lack of genuine crime dynamics in NYC, a narrative that feels overcrowded with MJ sidelining Spider-Man, a dearth of character growth, and a perceived absence of artistic vision, it becomes apparent that this game might not live up to the "masterpiece" status that some larger channels may assert. In essence, it seems that this game doesn't surpass its predecessor in any meaningful way, and the commenter raises valid points about the shortcomings that detract from its overall quality.

But the way they can make a standalone Venom game is introducing Eddie Brock as we know he exists in the universe and not all of the symbiote is gone. At the end of the game, you still fight symbiotes. There are still parts of the symbiote.

You know what could’ve worked. I know a lot won’t agree but Peter should’ve not removed the symbiote despite miles and MJ trying to convince him. He should have been corrupted further into becoming Venom and the final villain of the game. Then this could’ve been interesting, Miles would have no choice but to again fight his mentor and friend and try to separate the two even if it meant killing Peter. That would’ve surprised me greatly as it would’ve then made the Venom storyline very unique and never done before. We have not really seen Peter fully lose himself to the symbiote aside from the Spider's Shadow comic

From every problem about this game you can tell it was heavily rushed. After the success of the first game and spin off Sony being Sony definitely had not given them enough time to finish polishing this game. There’s literally the area of the Roxxon factory rhino bulldozes through In miles game that’s missing a door which allows you to go inside it the glitched building. Can’t believe the game went gold a month before release just for this to be the final product. I still like many aspects of the game but it feels very unfinished and not exactly what I expected to be. If the December update doesn’t include stuff like replayable missions, new game + and adding an option to use the black symbiote, and any dlc ,then this definitely doesn’t deserve goty nor any more of my time.

8:37 interesting note here apparently the main director mentioned he didn’t give a fuck about mj being op in game even people begged for her to be removed. Tbh i agree with every point in this video, i was so excited for this game and when it dropped i was but after the hype i cant help but notice how lack luster it felt afterwards, the open is one of the best we had in a while but even then the game still feels slow, a perfect swinging mechanic would be a mix of spider man 2 (movie game), web of shadows, with the animations of the insomniac games at least imo, And i know they didn’t but peter feels to fucking weak in this game especially during the sand man or venom fight and now we have a 3rd Spider-person which is about to make Peter feel like a background character at this rate.

One thing I dislike about the game is how the Symbiote Peter lacks a dynamic with the world. I did the Yuri mission as Anti-Venom Peter and he didn't once think about using his Symbiote abilites to lift the train off him. Cletus was about to burn him alive and Peter would sit around to let it happen if Yuri didn't push the train off him with a truck.

What is funny. Is that I'm working on my own Story of this Spider-Man 2 Game. If you guys didn't notice it I found a pacing issue after Venom Kills Kraven. It gives you two feelings. One the game is done. Or two the Game is going to continue for a bit longer. Aka 1 hour or less. But it continues on for longer than that. For mine I basically give Peter more time in the Symbiote suit, I give Miles actual interesting things, and I give Peter choices. I show him how the Symbiote suit does make things better. But do the positives outweigh the negatives? That would be the question that needs a answer. Another thing that would have been cool for Spider-Man 2 Give the player a Choice. Give them the choice to either join Venom or not. If you join Venom the game continues until you have taken over all of Manhattan and prepare to take the world. In the other choice the game continues as what it will.

Peter says he needs the suit to be a better Spider-Man ( tbh I have no idea why but let’s go with it). Anyway he says he needs it to be Spider-Man. Then he gets the anti venom suit. And retires from being spiderman. It’s bad enough they tell us Peter isn’t competent enough at being a hero but the choice to retire makes no sense unless he ended the game without a symbiot suit. Cause at that point I would understand that he doesn’t feel confident enough to continue being Spider-Man

But I agree with you with the story. Main story should have been a bit better the first game main story. And I would expect them to take some things from the first game which they did but yea I also have a problem with not being able to Change the weather not replaying missions and no new game plus. So yea because of that I gotta start a whole new save without all the suits and items I unlocked

This review is spot on and i'm concerned that this game got such stellar reviews. Fanboys just consume and like whatever they get served wihout using their brain to think about it. The game has it's moments but overall is just a huge downgrade from 2018 in so many ways...

One thing I don't understand, is why the symbioses still show up in crime fights even after you complete the game, and the symbiote was removed from the streets. That makes no sense to me.

The swinging and movement is so good in my opinion, but the story and crime system absolutely fucking sucks.

Im sorry but This video is taking things out of context. Yes the story could have been a bit less rushed at the end with venom and i agree that Kraven was really well done and would love to see more of him but it was stated that this was his last hunt he said it himself that he was looking for someone that could show him a true challenge. The whole harry being venom kinda threw me off too at the beginning but i don’t think harry was every supposed to be the main venom for this Spiderman because the venom symbiote isn’t dead OsCorp has more of the symbiote kept away. I think they made harry venom so Norman has a reason to have a grudge against Spiderman and use the g serum to cure harry and become the green goblin to be the main or one of the main antagonists for the next game

3:18 *THIS* This right here has got to be my biggest problem with Insomniac Games and Bryan Intihar Marvel's Spider-Man universe lmao... Like they created their own Marvel videogame universe where The Avengers, Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Danny Rand / Iron Fist, and Doctor Strange are all confirmed to exist and live in New York City along with Spider-Man, but they literally never show up at all lol... Like the whole city is getting overwhelmed by a Symbiote alien invasion guys!!! I think this is the time for you guys to step in and help out and not just let the two Spider-Men handle it all on their own!!!

Still can’t believe they changed MJ and Peters faces. The first game just, had them right. And apparently MJs face is based off of the head writer. What’s that supposed to mean.

You have some pretty good points but one of them I disagree with and that was Harry as venom did more harm than goodi f they had just used Eddie. The thing is Harry was teased from the beginning Eddie had one mention in Spider-Man PS4 and it was through a newspaper that you see once Peter doesn't even mention his existence. It would have been so jarring to have this character that we never knew that was never even mentioned show up and hate Peter for an undisclosed reason. Here we get development on Harry and why he's fighting Peter in fact Harry doesn't even hate Peter he's still wants him alive he wants him by his side he's trying to bring him to his side instead of trying to kill him. Harry only hated Peter when he refused to give him the suit because he was dying. Well and because the things peter said with the suit.

I fully expect Sony and PS fanboys to come raid the comment section. Good review overall. I'd also give this game a 5/10. That being said, this is a game I understand why some people would love - it's not so bad that it is impossible to see any worth in. I agree with your critique on the combat/ gameplay. For me, the two other things that really dragged this game down were the MJ sections and some very questionable narrative choices. Imo, the MJ sections were purely padding and completely necessary. I've seen so many people SPRINT around the map, tasing goons in the face thus essentially executing a 1-hit-takedown; it's quite brainless. It's crazy how you can sprint across long distances, the AI won't detect you and even if you are detected - the timing window to execute a takedown is just too big. I've seen someone take down two enemies as MJ in one go despite them having been "discovered". The AI also stops pursuing you very quickly - they don't bother to search for you for even 15 seconds after losing sight. Not only is this lazy and boring gameplay, it also undermines Peter and Miles in the sense that our two Spider-Men have to apparently execute a full combo on these goons to take them out whereas MJ can pretty much knock them out in 1 hit. It really messes with the power-scaling. Not to mention, this is such a confounding choice from a gameplay perspective - most people complained about these MJ sections and instead of removing them and focusing on further refining/expanding the Spider-Man combat, they doubled down on the MJ sections. From a narrative perspective, I felt like Venom and Pete's symbiotic arc was incredibly rushed. Pete goes 0 to 100 - in terms of the Symbiotic influence on his mind, turning into "Bully Lowenthal" in a blink of an eye (a slight exaggeration but you get what I mean). Furthermore, what irked me was the dynamic between Miles and Peter. I felt that Peter took way too many L's in this game and Miles just kept on winning - and before some fanboy misconstrues and manipulates my words, allow me to explain. Going into this game, my main concern was how Insomniac would handle the mentor-mentee dynamic. I'm not mad that Peter can't catch a break through the game, the problem is when you see all this in context of Miles' actions throughout this game. To me, it implies that Miles is just a better Spider-Man. Miles "saves" Black Cat, overcomes his trauma/need for revenge, beats and reforms Martin Li, "saves" Peter, manages to "beat" symbiote-suit Peter and "talk-no-jutsus" him into removing the suit, puts up a hell of a fight against Venom, saves Harry and gets his girl. Peter's accomplishments and victories throughout the main story feel so much more sparse and pathetic. Bro loses his job first day as a teacher, gets stabbed by Kraven without even putting a fight, goes through his "symbiote-suit arc" where he turns into a dickhead, gets saved by Miles and Li to get the Anti-Venom suit and destroys the symbiote. None of these things are "bad" per se, but when you compare them to all that Miles' accomplishes in this game, Peter is the one who looks like he's a liability and a sidekick. I would have been able to brush all this aside but the final nail in the coffin was was Peter quite literally saying to Miles that why would the city need him when it has Miles. There was no significant moment in the game that highlighted the mentor-mentee relationship between the two - if you didn't know anything about Peter or Miles - you'd swear that Peter is just the older version of Miles, but worse. I'm not saying this is the only way of looking at this, I know fans of this game will come up with a million explanations to justify this weird dynamic. between the two but it really rubbed me the wrong way. So yeah, I'd also give this a 5/10 - decently fun, but brought down by various flaws that are too big for me to ignore and bring down my enjoyment. Also speaking of review scores, it's crazy how we live in a time where 8/10 and 9/10s have become like the standard. It's like the distribution curve of scores has shifted so far to the right that people instantly assume 5/10 means crap.

I loved spider-man 1 I thought the second story was way too safe and very much belittled Peter’s character whether it be Mary man Jaw and her woke and verbally abusive ways she goes abt treating him to just take it gadgets were removed and there wasn’t much separation between the two spidermen gameplay wise what I really hated aside from how woke they had made Mary Jane is making Peter so weak like he can pick up a line of cars in spiderman one with 2 webs but can’t hold one train car with his bare hands it made no sense to me not to mention the scaling I love spiderman being a grounded hero and those spider arms just have to go in my opinion the gadgets were perfect idk I love this guys take I’m happy people are discussing this cuz the gameplay is acceptable but this story ain’t it the third act too is just too rushed I really wished we got a lot better

I decided to subsribe when I saw 90's spider-man. I was like "ok this guy knows good spider-man".

this game was hella mid. it was fun for me, minus mini "games", but the story was meh. this game had some high points but very bad low points, enough for me to not give it a high rating (edit: the miles suit towards the end was an adidas ad)

i did enjoy the game. But yeah i do agree with a lot of the points in the video and found my self looking back on my first playthrough. i experienced a bug at some point i had to fly a bee drone in those stupid bee missions in a warehouse filled with goons. for whatever reason i was stuck in that mission because i wasnt getting a prompt for me to progress and i restarted the level 3 god damn times only to find out if you had tutorials turned off in settings, then certain prompts would fail to show resulting in soft locks of you not being able to progress in missions. and i had a lot of issues with similar bugs like this that kinda threw me off the first playthrough. The story beats to me felt a bit rushed as well and pointless stuff like the mj and fucking.. miles deaf girlfriend mission were suprisingly a good majority of the game. this game couldve been so much better man and i hate that i onced trusted insomiac for so much years to see them produce a game with so little content.

1:41 false, venom was attached to Spiderman, so he knows it's Peter, he hates peter and Spiderman just as much because Peter rejected him. Thats why he bonds with Eddie so well, they both hate peter and Spiderman

I have to agree with you on this. I had extremely high hopes for this game and it came out as a mundane game that has no actually uniqueness.

I enjoyed SM1 more because I actually primarily played as Peter Parker. In SM2 it feels like they're doing everything they can for you to play anyone but Peter. The real GOAT is the SM game from 2000, or so. That shit was epic!

4:20 - Than you! MJ claims to be Peter girlfiriend and put out that slanderous article lying on him. She even acknowledged that Peter was asleep and the Symbiote was in control of him so he wasn't responsible for that night. Peter was 100% not in the wrong here he doesn't even remember what happened due to being sleep

I think you just "speedran" the game, instead of the game speedrunning the black suit plot.
