Just picked up the Spider Pro Drill Holster with Drill Pins. I have already had the original holster setup for many years, so I share in this video the differences ad similarities to help you make a decision if one, both, or neither of them are a good fit for you. I also make mention of Nohlster which is the other Tool "Holster" I use often.
I have videos of How I Use the Nohlsters Here:

They also have an Option for a Pro Holster, One Pin, and One Strap that I added to the description - In case you have two tools that the Pin won't work on Both...

That's what a review and a presentation should look like. Very nice and informative. BTW, in both affiliate links I can only see this: "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock". Purchase from their homepage is ok, but again shipping to me is $30. And because I'd need 2 Pro Holsters and 10 pins, it'd be $120 total. Heck. Not now, but definitely on my wish-list.

Thank you! I had no idea they made tool holsters. They were one of my finalists when I was looking for a camera holster system (I ended up going with a strap system) for sideline photography. Really well made. I will have to try one of these now for when I don't want to wear my tool belt.

@@MORGANSMaintenance Yes, that's true. I have many years experience in the photographic industry. I used to be a Kodak photographic seminar producer/presenter for several years, have worked with National Geographic on a few joint projects, worked in advertising photography for clients such as Nike, Levi Strauss, and many others, and also had my own professional photography business for twelve years or so. I also sold many Spider Holsters (all versions) for Spider Holster at trade shows all over the world, and am confident that they are likely the most well-designed tool carrying system ever developed.

The Spider Holsters are quite handy. I have their original belt clip and the screw mounted holsters so I can store tools on my Packout stack and then transfer them to my belt when I want to. Not seen this pro version yet, thanks for sharing.

Wow thanks for the video. I’m left handed and it’s a total deal breaker working with the original. The battery pack blocks the release even after a lot of practice. Also the wider catch is a nice addition. Many times I’m trying to holster with my hands and eyes occupied and I can’t locate it
@MORGANSMaintenance

I really like these pins on my bigger tools. Personally I don’t feel like they stick out any more than the original belt clips on the tools, but are way more secure. Appreciate you watching 👍

You did it again mate you made to start Googling again where I can get it over in Europe. So far not much luck. It does seem to be a very good solution to “where do I keep my drill” prob while working on laders. So far it’s been the standerd clip that comes with the tool or my though built pouch
@robholland5925
@robholland5925 8 месяцев назад
And while those options work to some point I have dropped my drill way more times then I would like to admit. This seems like it will do better with it clipping in. My pouch has a strap over the opening but that’s not a fast thing to deploy so hardly ever use it.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 8 месяцев назад
Th spider tool also sells holsters that you can screw mount to things. They don’t have the thumb release and rely on gravity, but I have one mounted to my ladder so I can just slide tools in/out of it. Mainly bigger tools I don’t want to have on my hip. They have tape measure add ons also, but I don’t like those. It takes specific tape measures to mount them, and they are a little hard to get in/out. Hopefully you find something 👍👍

@@MORGANSMaintenance that’s an other good idea just spotted them on their own website. I can’t drill thing to my ladder as it’s supplied by our company but I’m sure a metal tyrap or something like that will do that job too. Looks like I just have to give in and fork out for shipping from the US. All I find here are resellers and alliexpress rip offs. You really do have a habit of costing me money 🤣🤣 but so far it’s been well worth it. Got a few things on your recommendation that are serving me very well at work. Yeah they are pretty small clips, that was the biggest issue I was having when I started using M12 tools over bigger tools… how to keep it on me. Some people have had issues with the Nohlster spinning on the older model M12. Mine stays on my surge great, but the rubber boot may be what is helping it.

I’m still using the regular belt clip on mine… the location of the belt clip screw for the pin or the Nohlster is not good in my opinion…. And the Pin is the same situation as I showed for the pin nailer… you would have to remove the nub. The only combo that would work decent would be the strap… but then you would have to get the pro holster to change the lever to left handed… The belt hook location is just not great on that one.

I use a Hultafors PRSS tape and it has a great clip on system. I recently bought Spider pro as I thought they would compliment each other. I find the standard clips on impacts are too small fiddly and unreliable, they also sometimes don't catch on your belt easily. I suspect that I will find the locking catch on this a nuisance and will remove or disable it.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 6 месяцев назад
On the Spider Pro you could remove the latch, on the older spider holsters you can lock them open so you don’t have to unlatch. It has become 2nd nature to graze it with my thumb. I will look at that tape 👍👍

Where did you get that cover for your m12 surge? (Brand/part#)
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 8 месяцев назад
The Milwaukee part number is 49-16-2553 It is for the 1/4 Impact but I bought one and tried it, it’s fits the surge perfectly. It is hard to find now since they have upgraded their impacts, I’m sure they quit making them. You might have to find it on eBay.

I think the Spider Pins only work with Gen 3 M12 or newer. The older M12 like my Surge have a really small screw. They changed to a bigger screw on the newer ones.

I think mine has stayed on because of the boot. My buddy had an issue with his on the same tool as me. I think that rubber grips those teeth on the Nohlster. That’s the M12 with the smaller screws. Is that what yours is?
@danielortiz7421
@danielortiz7421 8 месяцев назад
@@MORGANSMaintenance my impact is the 2nd gen surge fuel M12. The screws are these tiny M2.5 x 6mm Philips screws. Yes I think you are correct when you say your rubber boot keeps yours Nohlster on. Otherwise the Nohlster begins to spin around with use and eventually comes right off. My M12 impact still working like a champ tho even after dropping it a few times

No, unfortunately the belt clip screw on the M12 drills and impacts of that Generation is too small. They made the screw the same size as the M18 on the newer M12 tools.

What's the weigh limit?
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 2 месяца назад
Their page says “There is no recommended weight limit, the only limit is how much your belt is capable of holding” I guess if your tool has a compatible screw hole, it will hold the same or more than the standard belt clip on your tool. If the tool you are wanting to use needs more strength, its standard clip will have a bigger screw than what this pin accepts.
