Love this. My friend lives in Denmark, when I visited I was surprised how people go out, to club/bar, dinner etc is super casual attire and sneakers. Definitely not the norm where I live. I did appreciate the relaxed nature, but I think it’s kinda overdone and boring, at least in Denmark. I noticed a few people here and there who were dressed in a way that stood out while still maintaining the “scandi” look. I feel like your aesthetic is truly scandi because older generations were not hopping on every trend and gobbling up every fast fashion piece as soon as it was on a rack in the stores. Simply wearing other colors can be still scandi but elevated. Instead of black I like Navy, dark and olive greens, taupe for example.

Cool that you've had a similar experience with Scandi style - I'd say the casualness that you're explaining for Denmark is the exact same as I'm explaining for Sweden: sneakers and dressed down vibes to a point of being kinda boring haha..! Interesting - I really like the comment of my style being old school Scandi - I haven't thought about it in that sense before! And sameeee I prefer all of those colors over black - with the addition of browns and cherry reds (obsessed with cherry red currently haha..!)!!

Enig. Spesielt det du sier om interiør/oppussing. Bor i leilighet midt i Oslo i en relativt liten bygning og det er konstant noen som pusser opp. Har bodd her i over ti år så ja - folk pusser opp nyoppussede leiligheter. Når der gjelder både det og folks konstante utskiftning av garderobe tenker jeg at vi har for mye penger.

Jaaaa exakt så är det - alla renoverar hela tiden, utan att det egentligen behövs och samma gäller kläder och möbler..! Det verkar helt klart som att många har för mycket pengar och för lite att göra om man renoverar och shoppar konstant... 😇

And wasn´t Jantelagen introduced by the ruling classes who wanted to keep the 'regular' folk in check and not encourage them to distinguish themselves, as that was their position to do so.

I find the modern interpretation of Jantelagen (i.e. dressing all the same) a little bit hypocritical. I mean, like wearing a flamboyant coat is going to make me richer than the all-black outfit lady? Why expressing yourself through your wardrobe should equal to feeling "more" than someone else?

I’m not sure I understand your point here but I don’t think dressing differently means someone would be feeling “more” than someone else. What I’m saying is just that the norm here is to blend in - which is probably driven by the Jantelagen concept. And all I’m saying is that if the current style that everyone else is wearing doesn’t align with what someone wants to wear, then I’m just encouraging people to wear whatever they want to regardless of trends or what’s considered “the current Scandi fashion trends”. Hope that makes sense 😇

@@SiedlerAesthetic Yes, I get your point, sorry if I didn't make myself clear, English isn't my first language. I wasn't talking about the way you presented the concept, I meant the concept in general has been misunderstood, in the sense that 'blending in' doesn't mean necessarily you actually _are_ equal than everyone else. I must admit that it rubs me the wrong way because it somehow is hiding the differences (both in the good an the bad way) under the rug instead of acknowledge them. For example, income disparity may be overlooked as long as you 'blend in', meanwhile regular good people are looked down just for standing out for an innocent way of expressing themselves. That's why I said I find the current interpretation of the concept a little bit hypocritical.
