The franchise pretty much saved the face of Nintendo considering what the huge failure the WiiU's been. A lot of people pretty much only bough the WiiU for Splatoon, ZombieU and the Wind Waker remake.
This is the best game of E3 in my opinion, which is amazing since it came out of NOWHERE. It's original, looks fun as hell and has incredibly tight game design.
Yes!! Who knows if it would have been even more sucessful/popular or a total flop (because people would have thought it was weird with Mario characters or so) but I don't care, since the squids and octos are the perfect match for the Franchise! 😊❤
"It would be 10 times more successful if they had done it with Mario characters." Yeaaaahhhh....uhhh about that... That didn't age that well, it's now one of Nintendo's most popular and most successful non-Mario franchises lol, and these characters, the Inklings, in particular are super popular and were probably a major reason WHY the series has done so well. Its popularity is almost stupid lol. Also, they did experiment with having the game star Mario characters at one point, it was almost a Mario spinoff.
Crazy to think how far this IP has come. What looked like a whacky shooter game at first turned into one of Nintendo's most popular multiplayer franchises. I remember being weirded out by the Inklings the first time I saw them but now I adore their design. Oh how times have changed :)
Funniest thing is that they did try it with Mario characters with a test audience and it didn't go over well. The mechanics just don't make sense with Mario
***** I've heard in several places that these huys are the "young talent" the Miyamoto-san was always referring to. If this is true, than the future is very bright at Nintendo.
8 years later and we're all thankful that they took that risk and created new characters for this game. In less than a decade, Splatoon went from a novel concept to one of Nintendo's most popular IPs. This series has come so far and with the way things are going, we'll see Splatoon turn 10 in just a few years. I can't wait to see what they'll do to celebrate!
Splatoon is huge now. And in my opinion it is the best console shooter of all time, it matches the precision and speed of mouse and keyboard on pc. And it is the most unique and interesting shooters I've ever seen.
Finally a shooter that looks actually enjoyable to play! (Plants vs Zombies is pretty awesome too) Also this game really seems popular even without them being identical known characters...people wanted a new fresh IP with different faces to represent the IP and it looked like it went really well.
I come from the future and boy do I have some news. It's such a hit that now we're even getting Splatoon 3. But that aside, Splatoon has had my attention ever since it first came out and that's not stopping anytime soon. Considering that my interests shift around every now and then, that's saying something and to me it's a clear sign that they did something right.
Many many people say this is their most anticipated game of next year. I think people are actually happy that they are not using Mario characters. This game will sell great imo.
Dear man of the past. Its 1 of the top grossing Nintendo franchises in existence only being alove for less than 3 years and they made it into smash bros
@@mounvalley7284Dear person of the past who can call someone a man without being harassed We now have Splatoon 3 and a DLC, There are now squid rolls and Octarians are now covered in fur (Someone that’s in the Splatoon 4 Timeline respond to me)
Frasier is kind of taking wind out of how good Nintendo's presentation was. I know he may not have liked the Robot Chicken skits, but it was apart of what made it good!
If they included legalized big bag of weed, Doritos, and Mountain Dew, this would sell millions on day one lol. Seriously though I'm keeping a eye on this one as it looks interesting.
Ink ball I don't like how people call it paint yeah it doesn't matter it is paint ball but in universe the ink comes from ink sacs so it does kinda bother me when they call it paint
Is it wrong that I want to see the Splatoon characters in Smash Bros.? I mean, I could see a lot of use for them, and it would definitely promote the game.
And I am pretty sure its 10 times better without the mario characters. Finally some new nintendo characters. They look great. And I really think that its better without the mario characters. Seriously, Mario characters in a game like this? Where the characters are supposed to be squids and shoot ink and turn into a squid to hide in the ink? Yeah I just cant that happening especially someone like bowser. And I have seen some crazy shit that bowser has done. (he turns into a cat in SM3DW for those who dont know).
"From Nintendo? New IP?? _What the f***?_" I never truly realized how true this statement was until now. At least Nintendo has consistently good quality games. Well, 99% of the time.
This game looks fun, but where are all the hypocrites who complained about Titanfall being a multiplayer only game, when at least at this point, this game looks to do something at least very similar, if not the same?
I think there is enough hypocrites in this world that you don't really have to search this video for it, don't worry, the whole E3 live stream chat is full of them.
Titanfall was a $60 fucking game. We don't know about the price for Splatoon yet, but it's a different situation. Don't try to compare them like they're the same thing.
decross20 Confirmed to be a retail game (meaning price wise it'll be 50 - 60 $) and as I said above it'll be at least on the level of Mario Kart 8 gameplay and mode wise.
I dunno, this game doesn't look all that fun to me, it's like a Multiplayer Vanquish with the shoot mode and movement mode, but nowhere near as fast as Vanquish is, and most of that games fun removed as well.
