Ferdi IV i think it was just a prank from one of nintendo’s workers iff you stay in the center you would hear them even more in the begin of the match you have enough time to walk (not swim) to the center and hear them laugh
I find it kind of interesting, since I kind of like ghosts. Not the bad kinds that kill you in your sleep, nope. I think these statues are those of ghost inklings that died, probably by an accident in the water of something since the statues are very close to the water. Maybe the staff made a statue of each of the girls as a memorial for them. Maybe they liked the statues and decided to use those statues as a vessel, but not for movement, but rather to be heard. Maybe the laughs were made as the two ghosts having a friendly conversation with each other, talking about their life when they were alive. I think that is kind of cool.
I am nobody kolotos has escaped. When Zelda defeated, he showed off the same laugh. So the boss was a ghost from ancient Greeks. That means that kolotos escaped and found a great place to attack that hasn't been attacked so inkopolis could be terrified and haunted (This happened 2 years in the inkling life.)
@Miss NotSoSweet My headcanon is that Inklings and Octolings die when they aren't linked to a spawnpoint. A lot of residents of Inkopolis have spawnpoints in their houses, and it's risky to go without one. That's why I think spawnpoints are always in battles, because you might get splatted. Maybe two Inklings forgot to link themselves to a spawnpoint before a match started, and died after falling/jumping into the water (presumably at the end of a squid party? People usually jump off the stage at the end of squid parties). Just a little addition to the theory
They actually get quiet when you’re near them usually the reason the laughing was so quiet for most of the video was you heard the one on the other side of the map laughing. You can actually hear them both quite clearly if you stand in the rotating platform

I noticed something with their personalities, the sitting down statue has more of a calm giggle while the standing one has a bubbly laugh, or in short one is calm and one is energetic. similar to Callie and Marie
Honestly looking back...the sculptures laughing is kinda cute but also creepy as hell...I honestly kinda wish they were back in splatoon 2 only not broken
No, I mean it. The easiest. Grammar rules are almost non existent compared to literally any other modern language and resources to learn it are abundant. I probably wouldn't even have the drive to learn my native language (Portuguese) if mine were English; lucky that I know both now.

The first laughing you heard was from the statue farthest from you. If you stand close to them they dont seem to speak. I know I'm like 2 years late or something but I just wanted to tell you.
both statues actually giggle, the standing one i think has a more playful giggle whilst the sitting one has more of a cunning one, there's not much to that but someone on reddit found that the giggles are the same ones from a boss from legend of zelda skyward sword, when the boss dies you can here those exact giggles in the background. i don't think there's any reason to the fact that they're the same, it wouldn't really make sense for splatoon and zelda to have some connection to each other, and even it was a connection, what do two random statues have to do with a random boss from skyward sword, what i think does mean though, is that there's some beautiful developer on the splatoon team running around putting easter eggs everywhere, it's most likely that he just plucked those two sound clips from a sound library of something. also something worth mentioning is that for some reason they only laugh during splatfest, when the map is on it's nighttime variant, which makes me also think that the developer just found the statues creepy at night and decided "oh buddy boi" aaaLSO, the you can hear the two statues laughing if you stand on the middle platform, have funs

They were once agents helping callie and marie they once died finding a zapfish so they now haunt the place also when your not in the middle of the map or close to them they say `your next your next because they know your going to die later on

This is actully fake because if you stand too close to the statue(s) they won't laugh. The only reason I know this because during the time was in splatfest witch was in 2016 I tested it out. When I stood to close it couldn't laugh the sitting statue has a bubbly and giggley laugh while the standing one has a mischievous laugh if you are in the middle of the mad then you may be able to hear both of them at the same time.
This happens in he last 45 seconds ,then the giggle ,like communication? I'm not sure it seems a dead human child has possessed these inkings made out of stone ,who knows?I might happen again in splatoon 2
