Finally splitting wood with a log splitter that's been in the family a long time. Trey and I show you a hobby with wood you may have forgotten about. Created by InShot:inshotapp.page...
Hi Larry! Thanks for the kind comment. It’s nothing special performance wise, but is a family artifact. That’s worth something. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated! WST
Well, I guess we are going to find out 🤣 If you watch Firewood Midwest and Back 40 Firewood, they are pretty good at returning shots. Let’s call it playful vengeance. We are processing firewood, anything I can do to make it a little more enjoyable for the viewer, I’ll find a way. Glad you enjoyed the vid. I appreciate the support! WST
Hey Mike, hope all is well. The old one is slow, but durable. The new one is up in the air. Parts are $$$ right now and hard to get. We will see. Thanks for watching my friend.
Hey WD30!!! I’m glad you have adapted to your new name. I like giving names to people. In may personal and professional life, I bestow the names. That splitter is getting makeover as we speak. First vid out on Wednesday. Maybe by then you will have caught up 🤣 Thanks for watching! WST
Hey John! Thanks for the complement. It’s an old girl, but I’m making her work. The dump valve makes a difference for sure. Appreciate you watching. I enjoy your sawmill videos. WST
Hi Harry P! That’s the best I was going to do with zero budget. Glad you enjoyed the playful humor. Getting ready for the shot to come back now 🤣 Have a great week in Northern WI! WST
That splitter is awesome . Very nice job on the table and all the upgrades . Hope you saved the original engine . Y’all crack me up with the popsicle stick figures . Can’t wait to see the one splitter you are building !! Have a great one . Del
Hi Del! Hope all is well on the home front. Thank you for your kind words in the splitter. We absolutely saved the engine. Just not able to run it right now. The parts are ridiculously expensive. Glad you enjoyed the action figures. Just trying to have some fun over here. Again, all the best to you and the wife. Thanks for watching. WST
Hey MSOH!! Hope all is well. That’s splitter is built like a battleship!! It weighs a ton! The hobby is a joke, but I sure enjoyed it 🤣 I was a kid again! Thanks for watching! I appreciate you!
Hi Tom, miss them as much as you do. Since COVID and things opening up again, my business went nuts! Still riding that roller coaster now. Once I get things under control, I hope to make a return. Until then, one job is enough for now. Thanks for dropping a comment. It means a lot to me. WST
Hi Kevin! They didn’t make splitters back then. This splitter was made from scratch. The I-beam you see was a cut off from a beam they used to build the local hospital I was born in. The axle was from a car and shortened. The engine was a 1947 Wisconsin. I had to change it out because it was just wore out and parts are $$$. That is why I have decided to keep it. It is one of a kind and part of the family. I appreciate you watching and commenting as always! WST
Hey Hottles! I think a turtle is faster 🤣 If I wanted to spend money I could upgrade it to the hare version 🤣 Always prepared. I would be silly not to be. Thanks for watching as always!
The splitter had a 4 gallon pump before and now an 8. I am going to have to spend money to make it any better. I’m on the fence. It would definitely sell better if I did? The new splitter project is going on a year. Doing everything as methodically as possible to make it a nice machine for a lot less money than new. We will see if I can achieve that. Thanks for watching! WST
@@WSTMike, a faster pump will definitely help it sell! The motor probably can't handle much more than an 11 or 12gpm pump. The Eastonmade 5-11 uses a 6 or 6.5hp engine with an 11gpm pump with a full-cycle time of 10sec out and back. Not a hydraulic systems expert, but the size of the cylinder and pump combo determines the cycle-time.
Logan, this splitter is not the splitter. It’s just a 50 year old relic that has been in the family. I made it the best I could at no cost. I would die of old age doing campfire wood 🤣 The other splitter I’m building will be the splitter. Thanks for watching and all the best to you and your channel. You are doing great! WST
Wow for being 40 plus years old that's a nice splitters. I may have missed it but would a bigger pump make that move a little faster??. The action figures too..🤣🤣
Hi Daniel, for what I had in my supply. That is the biggest pump I had that would fit the motor bolt pattern. It would need twice the motor and twice the pump to get it up to a decent standard. I had no budget to get it up to today’s standards. I may tell a little bit of the history of the homemade splitter in future videos. The action figures were a playful attempt to take people’s minds from the turtle speed splitter. 🤣 Thanks for watching as always!
Hi Richard! Hope all is well. I appreciate the kind words. It’s not and EastonMade or a Wolfe Ridge, but it’s grandpa’s. That means something. Thanks for watching and please take care! WST
Believe it or not you're not the 1st to custom build their own Shifty action figure. LOL Here as I watched and listened to how you rebuilt that splitter I thought, jeez maybe he could use a wrench by his name. Then you put that saw as an accessory for lil Shifty....tsk, tsk, tsk. 1 step forward, 2 steps back! Hahahahahahahaha.....good stuff! 👍 😀 🍻
Well, I didn’t think you would show this early, but I’m glad you did. I have plenty of wrenches, so you can keep the blue one. That’s just Todd Lacy getting me in trouble. I thought that 592 suited you, but that was just wishful thinking. I am disappointed that I’m not the first with an action figure 😞 Thanks for watching, Shifty.
Hey Jeff! That’s pretty funny! 🤣 Maybe I will send it to Dan for his Xmas tree or maybe I will just hang it on the wall of my shop and constantly remind him? I wouldn’t want him to use any of my Husky saws to cut his tree with. I would be blamed for the needles falling off prematurely from all that power! Appreciate you watching and enjoying the video. Take care my friend! WST
Nice Job on the splitter Mike! Looks like a well built machine that has split lots of wood for the family. Just needed a little pick me up! Also nice job on the Shifty figurine! Looks just like him! Those spindly popsicle stick arms!!🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻🔧🐿
Hey Todd! That splitter doesn’t owe anyone anything. It needed a facelift and it got it with the parts I had. I think Shifty was impressed I could glue popsicle sticks together, so that’s something. Thanks for watching my friend. I have to go an start repairing another comment you left minutes ago 🤣
Awesome splitter, I'm a sucker for heirlooms! Loved it. Those action figures were something special! Looking forward to the marathon woodyard working vids! thanks for sharing! Brad
Hey Brad! Thanks for watching and loving the heirloom 🤣 Glad you are looking forward to the marathon. I can’t wait!! Best work in the world. Y’all take care now! WST
Hey Ben! Thanks for the kind complement. It’s not even close to a top notch Super Split like you have, but it will suffice for now. I love building things. Take care my friend. Hope you are staying cool. WST
@@WSTMike I’m glad you like building things not me not the builder. I think this is twice you’ve referred to my Splitters by the wrong name. I have Split-Fire log splitters just had to correct you. Take care enjoy your weekend.
Hey Cherry 🍒 Man!! Hope all is well in PA my friend. It was nice to get a few prop guests on WST. I didn’t even have to pay them, although I’m sure I will pay later. That’s how this works. Appreciate the comment on the splitter. It’s nothing special performance wise, but it will suffice for now. Thanks for watching as always. WST
Hey Aaron! She splits and will get me through…. For now. Glad you enjoyed art class 🤣 Hope you are not floating away on the east coast. Take care my friend!
Man, didn’t realize you were so talented Mike!Figured Trey got all his talent from Mrs Tears. Who knew?!😆 Didn’t realize I looked so good either!💪🏻 Only way Shifty could have looked better was if he had his adult film star cowboy hat and shades on!🤣🤣🤣 Oh, and great job on the classic Splitter!👍🏻 Are those Volvo rims? FM OUT!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have no talent. There, I said it. You should have seen the eyes roll in my house when I came out of my office with stick figures and laminated photos 🤣 I wanted to use that pic of Shifty, but I couldn’t find a good one. That would have been classic! You are way too kind on the splitter. That thing is turtle x10. As for the hub caps, I have no clue, but they add $1500 to the price of the splitter 🤣🤣 Thanks for watching and actually enjoying the video. WST OUT!
I just bought a old log splitter myself. It's got a eight horse Wisconsin motor on it. It's chain driven. The hydraulic pump only holds about 2 gallons of hydraulic fluid.
That’s a great find!! Those 8 horse Wisconsin engines are torquey motors and built very well. Very interesting that it is chain driven. Appreciate you sharing that with me. WST
Woody, glad the wife laughed. That’s a good thing where I’m from. Here are the details on my wireless mic. Keep in mind, I went bargain basement. There are much better out there. aax-us-iad.amazon.com/x/c/QloXWWsXJznl7uBCAvBRwAcAAAF81HQQswEAAAGQAVztrkg/www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B094XJ4NWS/ref=syn_sd_onsite_mobileweb_4?ie=UTF8&adId=200094645831811&qualifier=1635651948&id=4929461585070274&widget=sd_onsite_mobileweb&spPl=1&psc=1&pd_rd_plhdr=
@@WSTMike I am working on a tour of the Stihl production facility. To be fair, they make a great product but no one likes to be number 2 among professional users.
@@woodruffwoods I agree with that. Where is their closest facility? VA Beach? FYI - I will be in PA in December. Hoping to look you up on that business trip. Email me and we can chat ahead of time. woodsweattears@protonmail.com
This community is great. Looks like a thorough nut cracking going on there in the shop. Got my popcorn so I’ll wait for the return fire. Lol. Nice splitter too.
Hi Scott! Just some good natured fun and a marketing plug for popsicle sticks. The community is great and there will no doubt be return fire. It’s inevitable! Thanks for watching! WST
Hey John! I appreciate you seeing the the craftsmanship in my woodworking. That kid is going far…….. in art class. 🤣 Thanks for watching and enjoying some good natured fun. Take care my friend. WST
Hello Ralph! Hope all is well. My name is Mike or you can just call me WST. Either way gets the job done. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Take care my friend! WST
@@toddcaskey9984 Hi Todd, nice to have you aboard. We appreciate it. We are in the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan. You live in a very nice area also. I do a lot of business in western NY. I don’t travel as much since COVID. Our earlier videos were trial and error. I think we final found our groove in the last several months. We’ve been around since February this year. We love chainsaws, wood and keeping things fun. Life is stressful enough. Hope you enjoy the videos. We appreciate you. Mike @ WST
