I am shocked that you had so little ash after 6 weeks. That is obviously efficient. Your son is well informed, I loved hearing the depth of his understanding of what is going on with the move to electric vehicles. Nice video Mike!
Hi Brian! That was the idea. Wanted you to get a taste of what it’s all about over here. Working and chatting. It doesn’t feel like work. Thanks for watching and enjoying the show. WST
Love the wood racks! Thanks for sharing the video! The beautiful thing about firewood is theres always something to learn or do to make life easier! Im constantly still learning after 6 years of running my classic CB boiler!
Hi Jay! Thanks for tuning in. I appreciate the comments. Love the Classic CB boilers for sure. I have been very happy thus far. Hope to see you around again and you will be seeing me on your channel! Take care! WST
It's wild how different the weather is from one place to another. We live in the mountains of western NC and have had lows in the 20s with most nights near freezing, but it is mid 60s here today and the high Friday will be mid 70s. My dad was born and raised in Cheboygan, MI to the north of you guys. We went up there one Thanksgiving back in the early 60s when we were mom, dad, large dog and 5 kids. This was before the interstate going up that way. It snowed and snowed and we ended up living with our Uncle's family until after the New Year before the roads were clear enough to leave. He heated with wood and I still remember the stack of firewood that he said was 14 cords and that was his winter supply. It's good that you guys can get together and chat over firewood. I'm sure that means a lot to both of you.
Hi Phil! It is remarkable the differences all over the country in weather. It is a very small world. I was born and raised 45 miles south of Cheboygan right on Lake Huron. That is where I learned what I know now. Farming, firewood and snow. The winters were bad growing up. Haven’t experienced anything like that since. I appreciate you sharing the story. I absolutely love that about RU-vid. Those that comment and share. That’s what makes this so much fun for me. I love my family and firewood brings us closer together. It’s an escape for all of us. Thanks again for sharing. I appreciate you! Take care. WST
I'm glad we don't get that much snow each year. We get plenty, but not as much as you folks. Great video, I'm glad you have finally admitted you need help...
Timber Visions! Hope all is well. It has come a tad earlier this year than normal. We have had snow off and on the last 2 weeks. This last several days of snow seems to want to stay. I need help. I will always admit that. No specifics needed per say. We will just keep it broad 🤣Thanks for watching and please take care! WST
Hi Jim! Glad to hear you have made it up into this area. We love it up here and feel blessed to call it home. If you ever make it back up here, let me know. We are hospitable folk! Where do you hail from, if I may ask? Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope to see you again in the comments. WST
Hey Richard! Hope all is well. Those are words to live by. Also known as OCD. Thanks for the nice comment on the OWB. I feel the same way. Take care and stay warm my friend! WST
Hi Travis! Hope all is well. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and you were entertained. That’s what we attempt do do every time we put something on RU-vid. Take care my friend! WST
I'm in Ohio south of Cleveland 20 miles we had a little snow now it's raining and temperature about 45 degree like the chatting with your son and enjoy the video can't believe that is all the ash you got out of the stove take care
Hi Larry! Hope all is well. I know your area very well. I do a lot of business in that part of Ohio. I love chatting with Alex. I learn a lot of things I would never care to read into myself. That is what makes our relationship special. I showed the ash clean out because I thought people may be surprised how efficient this unit is. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
Hi John!! Hope all is well in SE Ohio. I agree that the old school broncos are the cool ones. We are old school and Alex is new school. Anyway, thanks for watching and supporting the channel! WST
Hey Cajun! It is a very efficient and clean burning machine. I cannot tell you how much nicer this boiler is over my last incinerator! Thanks for watching my friend! We appreciate you! WST
the amount of knowledge that alex has is amazing along with his understanding of how it is all gonna work!!!! firewood has become a passion for me and to see guys and their kids doing it together is wonderful!!! some of my friends and i (before finding this community of amazing humans) were forged thru the hard work of firewood and how awesome it was to use to heat the home with!!!!!
WD30, he thinks about things that blow my mind. He came to me the other day and said he wants to build a rotary engine powered chainsaw... where did that come from? The force is strong with this one. I am glad you found the community. It is better with you here. I am glad you have friends also that support your wood habit LOL!
Hello Mr. Lacy! It seems crazy to only get that much ash, but that is it after 6 weeks. The wood has as much to do with it, as the reburn in the reaction chamber. Snow. I know. It seems like it is hear to stay? The lake is already frozen over too. Ice fishing is not far away! Take care and thanks for watching my friend! WST
Hi Richard! You will love it, I promise. Please keep me posted when you get it installed. I love hearing about others and their boilers... no matter the brand. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
Hey Grandpa! Hope all is well my friend! If you feel like you are trying to digest the conversation Alex and I were having, trust me, you are not alone! That is how his mind works and I wouldn't change a thing! Take care and thank you for watching. We appreciate you! WST
Hi Sam! Hope all is well. I have been very happy with this boiler to this point. It was a huge improvement to the incinerator I had prior. Makes life a lot easier. Thanks for watching and commenting! WST
Hi Harry P! It has been great having Alex back on the channel! The great thing is he is doing it on his own. That is a great way to put it, "critical thinking". I can see he never takes everything at face value. He noodles it around in that brain of his. I really appreciate that about him. Tesla has always been a big subject with us and we are waiting on receiving our new internet from StarLink, which is owned by SpaceX. I'm sure you see the connection. Take care my friend and thank you for watching! WST
I also ordered Starlink, was told October and just git an email that said they don't when I will get it? I also put $100 down on a cybertruck. I'm hoping that will be free as I have been killing it with Tesla stock.
@@TheDriftlessHomestead Awesome on the Starlink. I’m being told March 2022 now. Just got the email the other day. Shortage of silicon is what they are saying. Tesla stock is hot!!!!! I have a friend also that put money down on the truck. Thanks for letting me know on Starlink. Keep me posted when you get yours.
I thought my dad patience , that way he would not kill me !!! LOL Great video , good time spent together . Very interesting info about the batteries . Have a great one , Del
Hi Del! That is funny about teaching your dad patience! LOL! I always love spending time with my boys. They sure grow up quick! Glad you enjoyed the talk between Alex and I. I thought it would be something different, but very real. This happens all the time. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
Kinda cool Alex is watching the automotive stuff.. I know when I was his age I had all kinds of stuff in my head.. No snow here for me for at least 2 more months..😁👍
Hi Daniel! Alex is taking college classes, with automotive being one of them. He is really liking it and gravitating toward it. If you need some snow, say the word. I heard we got more since I left on Sunday. Heading home tomorrow! Thanks for watching my friend! WST
@@WSTMike : if he ever wants to know more on the Dorito (rotary) engines I have all kinds of knowledge on those.. Especially if he wants a few days of hands on I can do that too.. Have a safe trip back..😊👍
Hey Cherry 🍒 Man! I guess you don’t need to know a whole lot about a wood boiler to know that , that much ash in 6 weeks isn’t bad at all! Honestly, I think it’s amazing! I’m burning all 2 years season red oak at 15% moisture. Thanks for watching brother! I appreciate you! WST
I’m a new visitor to you’re channel but I did notice that you’re American flag is on the wring side bub, it should be on you’re right side to show we are pushing forward but the way you have it on you’re jacket is you are pushing back.
Hi Justin, that’s a camera thing. The way I had the camera made everything inverted. I’ll make sure the camera is right, so nothing else is wrong. Hope to see you again and thank you for pointing that out to me. Take care. WST
@@WSTMike ahh gotcha! I’ve been watching a few of y’all’s vlogs. I’m now a subscriber and I appreciate y’all’s channel! It’s good to see good clean content! Keep it up and I wish y’all a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Hi David! Yep! Those Tesla’s have a lot of torque. Not sure they would pull a stump, but they will get you from point A to point B in a hurry! Thanks for watching and have a great week my friend! WST
Hey Mike, you got snow. 32 deg c (90 f) today here in Aus, and the aircon stopped working in the car. I went to do some splitting but it was too hot, so I did some easy tidy up jobs instead. Stay warm.
Hi Chris! We got snow alright! It has come a bit earlier this year and has been more consistent. It is crazy how different it can be on two different ends of the globe. 90 degrees! Wow! I hope you get the aircon going again. You will bake my friend. It is also not great working weather, as you have experienced. We will stay warm here and you stay cool! Thanks for watching and supporting WST!
We havnt got any snow here in Missouri yet. Its actually 60 degrees here today lol. I love the snow. Other than im in the snow pushing buisnes. Take Care Mike !!!
Hey Eskimo Don! Hope all is well in 60 degree Missouri! Geeezzzzz! I am actually in Kansas right now for work. It is very nice out and can attest to your weather now. People that push snow for a living where I'm from are making money earlier than normal. The people that have to hire them..... HATE IT! I hope you get some snow soon, so you also can make some coin. Thanks for watching as always! I appreciate you! WST
Not that my 560hdx is hard to clean out, but not having the lower refractory to mess with makes yours a lot easier to scrape out than mine. That leaf blower is a good idea though. Never thought about that. I’ll have to try it and see how I like it.
Hi JT! I have been using the backpack blower since I’ve had this boiler. It does a really nice job. The other thing it does it gets the loose stuff out of the heat exchanger in the back. Let me know how you like it. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate it! WST
Okay friend--- I am requesting a video from you regarding firewood lingo. Clarify full cord, face cord, noodling, etc and maybe tips and tricks for those of us who are ready to put in the work, but who don't have the experience. (Im not a northerner CLEARLY, but will be headed that way soon and will utilize wood for heating home/ water). I could use a crash course. Lol
Hi Christie! Happy to help. Are you subscribed to the channel? If so, I would be happy to put a video out in the upcoming weeks. What part of the north do you plan to call home? Either way, it is a satisfying way of life, despite the hard work. Thanks for watching! WST
@@WSTMike I am subscribed (just now hit the notifications button though). I will be on the lookout for the video, whenever is it that you're able to upload. And I will be headed to Vermont. So I am definitely expecting some brutal snow and cold nights. Thank you for replying and considering the response video upload. I appreciate it and look forward to more content. :)
@@christiecrawford1653 Happy to help and Thank you for considering WST to help you out. Vermont is some beautiful country and yes, you will have some chilly, blustery nights. No matter, I love the four seasons and the challenges it offers. All the best. Video will be out in the next two weeks.
Lol. If I told my girls I had them so I could learn something well. They would sarcastically say thanks and they could walk away and come back with the blocks with abc s on them. Lol. Love my kids
THE STAN! Yep! I've upgraded your name to all CAPS. That is funny what you said about your kids. Looks as if your girls have a lot of DAD in them! Sarcasm is my greatest weapon. I use it daily to keep life becoming uncontrollably serious. Thanks for watching and adding to the comments. I so look forward to it when I post a video. Take care my friend! WST
@@WSTMike if you happen to to figure out how to explain sarcasm as just a funny way to deal with things me and my girls need the info ASAP. So we can get in the good graces of my wife. She does not appreciate it from me and the kids about anything. Lol we laugh she changes the topic. Then the kids just look at me like I did it again. All in good fun.
@@stannelson2582 Mrs. Tears is no different. You saw her laugh and carryon a few videos ago. We now have that on tape. We will watch that over and over again…… because it’s not entirely like that ALL the time. When the boys and I get going, sarcasm is overflowing the dams! I can’t explain it anymore than you can. We (you included) just do it and see how many dams we can take out! LOL! Great stuff my friend!
HAY MIKE, WICKED COOL SNOWFALL, I KNOW YOU DID THAT JUST FOR ME!!! WHEN YOU WENT TO SPLIT, YOU SAID SOMETHIN' BOUT HEARIN' YOU TALK, THEN FOLLOWED UP WITH PROBABLY NOT... KINDA SOUNDED LIKE DERECK FROM VICE GRIP GARAGE... YOU EVER CHECK HIM OUT??? HE'S A BLAST... THANX FOR THE SNOW BUDDY... VERY MUCH APPRECIATED & ENJOYED... PEACE...
Gringo Pines!!!! I absolutely staged the whole snow thing just for you. It actually wasn't even snowing at all. I used the green screen technology and made it look as if I was having the time of my life...LOL! I have not seen Vice Grip Garage, but it sounds like something I should do. Thank you for the recommendation. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid. I appreciate you brother! Take care! WST
I don’t mean to brag, but my Scarlett knows a lot about batteries too. Just the other day she changed my earmuff batteries, no big deal. (JK, Alex is AWESOME!).
Interesting on the electric cars, what happens to all the old batteries, I read they are not recyclable and it’s going to take more and more space in landfill, I think where I’m at I would have to pull a generator as there a lot of territory with no power, anyway I enjoyed the video, keep em coming, Cheers
Hey Gerry! In regards to the batteries, you are right. They are not recyclable from what I’ve heard also. Even crazier, if you get in an accident with an electric car and there is battery acid flowing all over the intersection…. You get a nice bill from the hazardous chemical cleanup crew that has to be called onsite. I don’t know all the details, but I like tickling the ivory’s on all subjects. Keeps your mind exercising. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
I couldn't wait to get to your comment. It sounded better in my head 55 minutes ago 🤣 I appreciate the fact you don't miss much, you don't forget anything and you have become that person in my life to remind me of all the things I ever said. Please don't change. I'm going to give you a list of birthdays and anniversaries also, I need the most help in this area 🤣 Thanks for the support as always. Take care my friend! WST OUT!
Hi Mike! Hope all is well in the Hoosier state! Efficient is the best word to use. The wood has a lot to do with it also. All the oak I am burning is at 15% moisture right now. That is a good level and a perfect marriage for this boiler. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
Hey Whackin!!! Hope all is well my friend! I'm sure you have a lot of cookies and oddballs you would like to burn. The casualties of processing firewood. I can honestly say, I don't burn too many cookies etc. I treat this boiler better than Mrs. Tears! 🤣 It only gets the best. Thanks for watching! WST
Very timely video. I’m at 6 weeks of burning at this point as well. Loving your full woodshed. Looks like a postcard with the snow. You and your son make a great team.
Hello Mr. BuildALot! Hope all is well my friend. I wanted to clean out sooner, but just couldn't really justify it. I finally just did it... to do it! I love a full woodshed. It looks great and is satisfying to look at. Alex and I have always made a great team. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! WST
Hi Larry! With this boiler being made in your great state of Minnesota, you only expect the best from it. I'm very happy and that is an understatement. Take care my friend! WST
Mike, my company sold Central Boiler back in the day, Only have a few of the “Edge” I recommended to my customers to only burn Dry wood and keep it clean👍🏼🇺🇸
Hi Larry! That is really cool that you sold Central Boiler. It obviously did you well and that is the reason you have 10,000 attachments for your $1.2 million dollar T650 🤣🤣 I believe in keeping everything clean and operational. I appreciate the comment on "dry wood and keep it clean" That is what i do in a nutshell. Take care and we will see you on the next one! WST
Hey Heinzie! Hope all is well. Sorry to hear about the ordinance. That is not that uncommon, unfortunately. There are more populated areas in Michigan that have the same restrictions. I have no issues with you thinking I was a Yooper. I was born and raised very close to the bridge that connects to Upper and Lower peninsulas. Some of the talk and mannerisms have trickled down. I have even been told I sound like I'm from Canada! No worries. I am who I am. Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate you! WST
Pardon me sir, but is that a Husqvarna backpack blower you are wearing?( Bugle Boy Jeans)....Good one Mr. Mike...like I was spending the evening with you guys....
Hello Ax! That was a Husqvarna 580T backpack blower. The biggest they make! Bugle Boys! I may have had a pair or two as a kid 🤣 Glad you enjoyed the video. The whole idea was for you to listen what we do when we stack wood. Doesn’t feel like work that way. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
Hi Andy!! LOL!!! Man, you may have something there. I never know sometimes what is going to come out of my pie hole. Some are gems and others are better left unsaid. Anyway, I think the "Unnecessarily Normal" may resurface. Thanks for watching and picking that gem out. Take care! WST
Hi Ed! I made this cart out of an old wheelbarrow. I made it a two wheel with a wide stance for stability. I made the deck out of pressure treated wood to hold at least 15 pieces of wood to feed my boiler. You are the first to comment on it. It was a necessity to get the wood from the wood shed to the boiler. It's a lifesaver!! Thanks for watching!! WST
@@WSTMike I definitely need one like that! It looks like it works well, I don't have too far to travel from my wood storage to the wood boiler, but this could be a back saver ;-) Thanks for the vid!!

Hey Woody! Not a lot of ash for 6 weeks of burning. I am burning all 2 year seasoned red oak that is 15% moisture. That makes a difference, in correlation with the boiler technology itself. Alex is a wealth of knowledge. It boggles my mind what he reads and studies. Thanks for watching!! WST
