I take a little trip to the river to show the view, discuss a problem, clean up some ash logs and rant about my organization. That's it.

The Wallenstein winch would do the job. Mike Morgan with Outdoors With The Morgan's has one & he really likes it. Walk around your woodyard & you'll found ur cookies by tripping over them. If my grandson would of heard you say anything about duck hunting he would have been wanting to go!!!! Lol WST, have a great rest of the day!!!!

Hi John! I agree that Wallenstein would do the job. I have seen Mike Morgan use his also. As for the cookies, maybe I need to tell your grandson that he can come duck hunting up here if he wouldn't mind strolling through my woodyard and trip over some cookies? I think that would be fair 😂😂 Thank you for taking the time to watch! Take care my friend. WST

Hi Mike!!😀😀 Nice pieces of ash!! Your idea of using a winch to get those trees over to the high ground is probably the only way you are going to get it out. Unless you can make a trail with the 4 wheeler and freeze it down. Then use a small trailer behind it to haul it out. Unless you really need that wood it might be more work than it's worth. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al

Hi Mike. If you can get a 4 wheeler trail to the trees that your tractor can maneuver down. Keeping the snow packed on it with the wheeler will get frost into the ground if we get some cold weather like the west is getting. Your tractor could then go down the frozen trail. The boat pulling logs in the summer is interesting too. As others have said it might just not be worth it either. Take care.
@WSTMike
@WSTMike 2 года назад
Hi Dave! I am leaning toward your idea the more I think about it. The super hero in me would like to make this some sort of grand extraction, but the value of the wood and the expense wouldn’t be worth it. I’m going to let it keep freezing and take a shot very soon. There are laws around rivers and lakes that may not allow me to drag wood through the river. I have to check on that also. To your last point, this whole idea may not have any value other than entertainment. Thanks for watching and for the awesome comment. WST

If the river freezes couldn't you cut them down let them fall down onto the ice or even not on the ice to break it and then use a children's toboggan or an engine hold off of a car and a four-wheeler or something and take them across the ice or even when there where your lowland is if you don't want to build a pass because it'd be too expensive for to build it big enough for the tractor or truck you could probably put some Bank gravel in it and make yourself a roadway for a four wheeler if you have one
@WSTMike
@WSTMike 2 года назад
Hi Kent! The river unfortunately never freezes over thick enough to put any measurable weight on it. We have had deer cross from time to time, but that is rare. With the deep freeze hitting Michigan and other parts of the country, there is a good chance it will freeze over. The other thing is there is a decent current in this river. Just too risky. The plan right now is to use the 4 wheeler and beat down a path. I'm hoping it will freeze enough to use the tractor eventually. We will see! Thank you for watching and commenting. We appreciate it!
