This is the update video. I sent my Ronin EMP back to Springfield Armory because I kept having repeated failure to feeds where the cartridge was getting stuck against the frame not hitting the feed ramp. This video details the work SA did and the results they found.

Same issue, sent back. Better now, but now the front fiber fell out. I am thinking of replacing with a Glock 43X

I have the 43x. Bought it when it first came out. Much more reliable than this paperweight.

What they said about the tight tolerances is 100% true, and because of this 1911s require a break in period. Unless you’re paying 5k for a custom pistol which should already broken by the manufacturer. For new 1911s I keep them well oiled and clean after every range session until I get about 1000k rounds. Then you can relax in the cleaning a little. I always keep a thin coat of oil on the entire gun and more oil in any parts that rub or touch. Seems to work for me as all of my Springfield 1911s run reliably.

I should clarify, when I say 1000k rounds I’m talking worst case scenario for a real finicky 1911. Most of my guns start to feel very smooth and I would consider reliable at around the 500 round mark. Before 500 rounds I would expect a failure here and there. At least that is my experience. Again unless you are getting into the custom 1911 world. For that kind of money it better be reliable right from the start. I love carrying 1911s but I would never carry one that has less than 500 rounds on it.

@@propblast82ndI don’t have an EMP. I was speaking more in generalities. The two primary pistols that I shoot are the Emissary 4.25” and a prodigy 4.25”. I shoot IDPA on Thursdays. 80-100 rounds a week. In the winter I shoot PPC.

Understand that when a manufacturer builds a run of guns that they know a certain percentage will be out of spec. This is usually due to tooling wear. Drill bits and machinery wear. It’s an acceptable loss to them and they will fix it.
